Fun instant print camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always been interested in the so called “polaroid” instant-print cameras since childhood. I finally got my hands on the modern version of those magic machines through the Canon IVY Cliq+ Instant Film Camera. The camera is surprisingly light and thin considering it has its own printer inside, thought its wider and taller than some mirrorless cameras I have used. The body is plasticy, but quite sturdy - it fell off my hands to the ground a couple of times and the only damage done was some dirt marks (it was not very hard ground though). The most important thing about this camera is the simplicity, which is quite polarising. There is NO display - only an optical viewfinder to frame your shot. There’s no way to preview the picture you have taken - the whole thing is (sometimes annoyingly) surprisingly straight-forward. You frame whatever you want to take a picture of, focus, shoot, and the photo pops out in 2”x3” sized supposedly water-proof paper. You don’t necessarily need a memory card, but still you can get multiple copies of the just-taken photo by pressing a dedicated button. The only other function button (apart from the power and shutter buttons along which a slider for flash settings) is the one which lets you choose the print-out size: 2x2 or 2x3. The front has a big mirror that lets you take selfies though I haven’t used it. There’s ring-type lights that helps for that too. The print quality is quite nice for such a fast and small printer, but outdoor picture looks washed out, with not much details. Indoor pictures are decent. The camera is particularly aimed for taking fun pictures for friends and family, and those pictures look quite good. It’s a really good camera to take some pictures when you’re having fun at family vacation or some activities. The added benefit of this camera is the smartphone app. Not only you can remotely control the camera, but also you can use the camera as a printer for your smartphone camera. That is what I have been using it for mostly. Again, don’t expect very high quality print, but for the 2-inch sized paper, they are decent. All is all, I’m very happy with using the Ivy Cliq+. The only cons I can think of the lack of previewing photos (even when using the app as remote), the washed out look of landscapes, and finally Canon only bundling 10 photo paper with the camera - they should’ve packed more for the starter kit.

Instant Camera with print option!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using full frame DSLRs and full frame mirrorless cameras more than a decade now. I never used "Polaroid" type cameras with instant print. I got the opportunity to use Canon IVY Cliq+ Instant Film Camera. I was surprised by size and design this camera. It is very lightweight with built-in printer. It came with Canon IVY Cliq+ Instant Film Camera, ZINK photo paper pack (10 sheets and one Smart Sheet), Micro-USB Cable, Wrist Strap, warranty sheet and quick start guide. There are multiple color options available with Sapphire Blue, Rose Gold, Ruby Red and Pearl White. It will take 8MP photo. It has large circular 2" selfie mirror with eight-LED ring light which is great for taking selfies. It has microSD slot which can be used to store photos. There is no display and only option is to use optical viewfinder to take photos. I don't see this as an issue as i never use display monitor to take photos in DSLRs. However, without display there is no option to preview the photos. I have taken few photos with the camera and photos came out with the size of 2"x3". There are only two size options to print either 2x2 or 2x3. The photo quality is not best. But, it should be fine for 2x2 size of print. I have installed the app my iPhone and able to control the camera to take pictures using Bluetooth. The nice feature is to print the photos taken from the phone. Canon IVY Cliq+ Instant Film Camera is definitely a fun camera and bringing the Polaroid type feature with additional capabilities. Now everyone is using phones to take photos and videos, i am not sure the need of instant film camera with printing option considering the cost of photo paper will be higher to get average print quality. I would rather take the photos either with mirrorless or phone and print it with high quality.

Polaroid Like For Today's Times
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, the Canon Ivy Cliq+ is a sleek, easily-held in one hand, camera. I got it in the pearl white and it is very pretty. There is not much in the original package-the camera, a wrist strap that needs to be threaded through either one of the top right or left sides, making it comfortable for either the right or left handed user, a 10 pack of the zinc photo paper, the charging cord, and pictorial-type user guide, which is very rudimentary. Step 1 is to charge the camera, easy. Step 2, put the pack of film in the compartment on the back that has a slide door, blue bar code paper down and the film side up, no problem. Threading the wrist-let strap through its intended area was a feat. You need to press the print button so that it feeds out the blue paper and then connect your mobile device, most likely your smartphone, by Blue tooth to the camera where the Canon mini printer app also needs to be downloaded to. This app is found under M for Mini with a Canon logo across it- dumb me I kept looking in the C's for Canon. At any rate, it got done. No problem connecting camera by Blue tooth, and will, through the app apply all the design to your camera's galley of pictures that it does to the pics taken by this camera. I must admit, that even though I am a 60 year old, playing with all the design features is very fun, nothing is impossible to doctor up. The bad- getting that wrist let strap through and I am not ham handed either, but someone with good dexterity and fine motor skills. The ugly- I took several pics, inadvertently printing them, thereby wasting good money on very expensive paper stock. I looked up that a 50 count paper stack is $25-WOW! I fear that this cost will take all the fun and novelty away from this device. So, my recommendation is tempered by the fact that the user has full knowledge about the costly expenses involved with this camera. This is a novelty for parties or other special occasions, not the day to day, or even the bulk of pics taken on vacation.

It's cute and it works
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera is small and cute and I figured my wife would love it. She downloaded the app and took selfies and was able to add graphics to the photos when she printed the photos. No issues with focus on the camera and the picture quality is pretty good. Nitpicks: 1) a small sheet with diagrams showing how to work the camera. Nothing in detail. 2) refilling the paper is expensive. It basically 50 cents a sheet. For the right person that loves that selfies and printed them out automatically, this would be the perfect camera.

Interesting idea, not for all, fun for parties
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Canon IVY Cliq+ is an interesting product, something of a hybrid between an instant camera and a photo printer. The Cliq+ has bluetooth so you can install the Canon Mini Print software, iOS version here https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/canon-mini-print/id1335828771?mt=8 the phone software means you don't have to take photos with the IVY Cliq+, but can import and print photos from your phone. This is my preferred approach, as the IVY Cliq+ has no screen and it's hard to get comfortable with the old way of taking photos, printing, and hoping you took a good photo. The big thing you need to know with the IVY Cliq+ is what is the photo quality like. If you keep in mind, it's printing photos in something about the size of 2 decks of cards side by side, the quality is good. That said, the photos do look very much like the old school polaroid style even though they print borderless and come out ready to view (no need to wave the photo paper about). The photos are small, roughly a little bigger than a business card and are OK for fun prints but not great for keeping forever. That's the thing about the IVY Cliq+ it feels like a lot of compromises, so it's not a replacement for your phone, or a decent photo printer, or printing photos professionally. It's more a fun camera. We used it over the weekend at a birthday party and everyone enjoyed using it and loved printing photos (and the lens has a great selfie mirror built in). It's just not a camera you would use every day, more something you would pull out for a special occasion. I think the perfect place to use the IVY Cliq+ is for weddings, graduation, or birthday parties. Putting it somewhere that all guests can pick it up, take a photo and post it on a wall during the day/night would make for a cool and different experience. 10x better than buying and having half a dozen disposable cameras (can you even still by them) and then having to develop film. In summary, fun, love that you can connect the IVY Cliq+ to use as a photo printer for your phone, just don't expect it to print great photos.

Not impressed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a Canon camera lover, I have always had one & currently have 2. So I thought this might be a fun camera to have since I had a Polaroid instant camera as a child. I have to say I was disappointed though. For the price I was not impressed with the results , the camera is suppose to be 8mp but the quality just isn’t there, the pictures look faded when they are printed, the paper is ink less & develops instantly but it’s expensive & the pictures are only 2x2 or 2x3 with a sticky back. There is a blue sheet that must always be in the paper compartment or the color is even worse. I also printed a picture from my phone that I had taken with my good Canon camera & it was also very faded. The camera itself seems cheap, the paper cover keeps coming off & is very flimsy plastic. Camera can only be charged by usb & the charge didn’t last very long . Operation is easy with only power button, flash button which must be in the fill position to activate the led selfie ring. There is a large selfie mirror where the lens is & you must look through the viewfinder to take pictures , there is no screen on the back. You can add stickers & text to pictures through the app where you’ll also find the complete owners manual. This comes in a lot of colors too, but I believe there’s only 3 colors that are Cliq+. I’m not into selfies so I would say this would be a great camera for a teen/tween or someone who just wants fun pics without quality. I’ll stick to my digital.

Disappointed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really looking forward to seeing what this camera/printer could do. I'm disappointed. First, there is no explanation of features. Unless you can figure it out yourself, you wouldn't know that you can use a microSD card to save photos. There's no indication of where you can buy more photo paper either or whether there is photo paper available for it that isn't sticker type paper. It's as if they've made this only for people who are knowledgable about technology, not the 80 year old grandmother who wants an upgrade from her old Polaroid camera. Then again, that same grandma probably doesn't care about saving the photos but also wouldn't know how to go on-line to order the paper. This has the same problem of the Polaroid in that you cannot preview before printing so there's a good chance you've wasted a picture and the paper isn't cheap. If you want to preview the pictures before printing, use your phone then print. Regardless of the above, there is some good. First, it is a much better picture than the Polaroid and you don't have those awful chemicals to deal with. Loading the paper into the camera is easy. It's a good camera for parties so you can send home something fun with the kids to remember the day by. Also, have your child hold up your cell phone number, take the picture and stick that on them in case you get separated. I can think of a number of uses for it particularly for those who have younger children or perhaps people playing party games. Having the sticky back may make it a good option for those who do scrapbooking. Overall, if you are looking to print photos, a regular photo printer would work just as well. If you are looking to upgrade your old Polaroid, this is definitely a consideration. As far as recommendation, that's a tough one. It would definitely depend on who was asking as for some, this would work well while for others, not so much.

Prints my phone pics!!!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this camera for giving me an up to date feeling that I used to get waiting for my pics to color to come thru as a kid. I was expecting a screen or something to look at besides guessing what my angle looks like but the selfie mirror is just fine and will take a little getting used to. My second option is to just pull out my phone and take my thousand pics to find the right one I love and print directly from the camera. They're small pics but so cute! I used it with my daughter for school field day to give friends pics of each other. It prints quick & the app required to download for prints from the phone has its little emojis and filters to add more to the picture. It was easy to use instructions in the app and within 3mins I printed my first pic! Great camera and super fun!!!

I think its cute...for a kid
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I already had the expectation that this would of been a good first camera for my 6 year old, if it didn't work for my needs, and I couldn't have been more right. The quality of the prints are not as good as I thought it would've been. I wasn't thinking that it was going to be DSLR quality but I saw a couple reviews for Canons original Ivy, and the prints looked good, real good. I used the camera, as well as, printed off some photos that I already have on my phone. Each print has a pink cast to it, and the photos aren't as bright as they are on my computer, phone, or larger print. I professionally take, and edit photos, so to see the color not print the same as my photos are, was a bit disappointing. I will say that the sharpness of the photos that I already had, did translate to the final print, I just mainly have an issue with the change of color, tint, and darkened exposure. Obviously, the camera itself isn't going to deliver sharp photos, but it does take decent photos. I was off on two of the photos with getting three of us in frame. I cut off my daughters head twice. So that will take some getting use to, as it does offer in-frame guides on the selfie mirror part. I didn't notice them until after I had already taken the two pictures. I do not like the long "shutter" button on the top as it is way too sensitive and sometimes when I clicked it, I didn't get any sign that the photo was taken and gave up at that point. I put the camera/printer down and was about to walk away, when all of a sudden it started printing. I didn't know what it was going to print as I had pressed it several times before giving up. Thank goodness it was a good pic or else the paper would have been wasted. Also when I was out of paper, if my finger swiped, not pressed, on the button it began making beeping noises and blinking red. I'm assuming it was to remind me not to press the button, but that would detail how sensitive the button really is. Its also in an awkward place because you tend to grab the printer in that very spot while its on could cause photos you didn't intend to take to be printed. Ok so the added feature of the selfie mirror on front is great because you can see yourself and so can your friends. Just make sure you're in-between the frame guides. It also has lights, Unfortunately, I ran out of paper before I could test the flash. Sorry. But you are able to adjust the light settings from medium light to full light. since I didn't get to test it, I can't expand on that. Let's talk about the paper. Thank goodness they supply a 10 sheet pack in the box, but that was used up so quickly. It is EXPENSIVE. I mean if I let my 6 year old use this as his camera to take epic instant photos of him and his friends, then I am in a heap of financial trouble, because he will blow through those photo papers in no time. The photo paper is also a sticker, so if you want to stick the photos on any surface you can do so. I haven't tested the stickiness of the paper by adhering it to a surface, but I did feel it and yup, it sticks, its not tacky to where it would be incredibly difficult to remove. Visually, it's cute. But it wouldn't be something I take on any trips with friends to capture instant printable moments. Which is what I was hoping to do. I will however, pass this on to my son and let him have a ball with it. Him and his sister thinks that the IVY Cliq+ is amazing. So if you are shopping for a younger kid, tween, or teen, this may be the perfect gift for them. They would get a gag out of this with their friends. If you are looking to have quality wasted girls or guys night out photos for instant laughs this isn't for you.

Canon Ivy Cliq+ Camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a cool little camera. I've been testing it out for the last few days and its a pretty fun camera. Kinda like the old Polaroid cameras from back in the day (without the shaking of pic after it pops out). Canon has done a great job with this camera. It packs an 8 MP camera and printer all together in a nice colorful package. This camera comes in a variety of colors. This model also features a selfie mirror on the front, for those that must catch that perfect shot of themselves. On the side is a slot for a micro-USB port for charging as well as a micro-SD card slot. The micro-SD slot is great as it allows you to save your photos to a card. To load you simply slide off the back-plate and load the Zink paper as instructed along with the SmartSheet and start snapping away. Something that definitely appeal to the younger crowd is that the photo paper is actually a sticker. So this camera would be great for a teen.

entry level instant camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm old enough to have used Polaroids before they were hipster-instagram-cool. Even compared to the original Polaroid film, the Zink printing quality leaves a ton to be desired. Think, VGA, old-school quality. The size of the photos are small enough to be considered wallet-size, but then the question remains, who even needs wallet photos any more? My iphone takes photos with infinitely better image quality, and I can view them in much higher resolution in a similar size as the Zink pics. I think Canon was trying to jump into the instant film fad... except about 5 years too late. I really wanted to love this camera because I was really nostalgic about my old Polaroid hand-me-down from my dad, but after several days of use, I just can't find a good enough use case scenario where I grab this over my iphone. Camera is well thought out, the app is easy to learn, on-board flash is there. All the basic necessities are checked off, but there's just no special factor that leads me to pick the Cliq+ up over my cell phone, a Sony a-6000, or even my Canon AE-1.

Fun camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very nice point and shoot, instant camera or a camera-printer. It stores images on an HD, comes with a neat useful app and takes very good pictures under most lighting conditions. My only complaint is that the printed pictures are too small for real life, practical purposes... they’re wallet size. So it makes nice momentos for any vacation trip or sharing with friends and family.

Ok for the first new product
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera using it for the instant picture feature is a nice idea but need some fine tuning. The colors from the pictures ar off even in good natural light. If you want to make instant memories then this may be a camera to look at. The picture has a sticky back so you. An attach it to a photo album. If you are looking for a camera to replace a regular point and shot this is not it. This is more for the individuals who want to share the experience and pictures to a collection. Like a wedding photo booth of candid pictures. Also good for parties. If makin instant memories are your thing this is one to look at. But if great quality photos are your primary use then this may not be for you.

Fun instant camera for the parties
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is Canon's version of instant print camera. It takes pictures and prints them right away. It is very portable, lightweight, and can fit in your pocket. The camera has a resolution of 8MP. It also has 8 LED ring light as well as auto flash. It uses Zink photo paper made by Canon. The print size of the photos can be 2" x 3" or 2" x 2". These photo prints are sticky backed, which means you can peel and stick them on anything. The best part about this camera is that you can use a MicroSD card which will save these instant pictures to the card. The camera can be connected to your phone via the Canon Mini Print App using Bluetooth connection. The app helps in remote shooting, adding frames, filters, stickers, etc. Another great feature of the app is printing photos from your phone using this camera. The camera has a 2" selfie mirror that can be used to take selfies. This camera comes with built-in battery which can be charged via the Micro USB cable and lasts upto 25 photos. I wish it had either fast charging or came with a replaceable battery since it takes 2 hours to fully charge the camera. One drawback is that if you run out of the paper, you cannot take any pictures, even on the MicroSD card. But this is an instant camera, not a digital camera. Overall, this is a handy fun camera for parties and would recommend for anyone looking to upgrade their polariod or wanting to try this type of camera.

Cute fun “toy” camera to use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty cute fun “toy” camera to use, specially for kids that are getting into taking pictures… Small and easy to carry. Great features and connectivity to phone. Ring light, Bluetooth printing from your phone, micro SD card slot… You do need to test it out with different lighting conditions to get a good one. The sticky paper makes them great for placing them on a notebook, scrapbooks, wall, hang them to a lighted string... This camera would be also fun to use at parties instead of a photo booth. But don’t expect DSLR quality, or even phone quality photos though.
