Good Quality Printing, Long Lasting Low Cost Ink

Easy set up, simple to follow directions within the app which you download. I like that I did not have to provide an email or register for anything--this was a much, much better experience over the HP printer setups I have done in the past few years. Canon wins hands down; I'm a believer for sure...no more HP printers for this household!
Filling the ink tanks was not messy at all (the directions say to squeeze the bottles but they are rigid and don't need squeezing; the inks drain down pretty fast anyway). I did some scanning and copying of documents--worked perfectly, fast and easy. I really like the no-hassle automatic double-sided printing (no having to reinsert pages and figure out the correct sides and orientations). The printer maintains a good internet connection as well--I wirelessly printed from a Windows/PC laptop, a MacBook, an iMac, an iPad, and an iPhone and it was seamless and effortless.
I also compared the prices of buying ink cartridges for my HP printers versus buying the ink bottles for this Canon printer. For the same price, the HP cartridge yields around 240 pages while the ink bottle yields...wait for it...6,000 pages! What a huge difference. This Canon printer is worth the initial investment because it will more than pay for itself in money saved when purchasing printer ink.
After years of buying HP printers, I will never buy one again after this much better Canon experience. For one, as I stated above, when utilizing the Canon app I was never forced to give out my email address or any type of identifying information whatsoever. With two HP printers that I set up last year, the HP app makes you register your information which includes a valid email address. And while HP touts their "automatic ink cartridge" reorder program and how it will save you money, blah blah blah, the ink cartridge refills are still much more expensive than Canon's ink bottle refills. Also, the WiFi connection of HP printers are unreliable--they lose the connections all the time, and many of our computers/tablets/smartphones have trouble connecting to the HP printers (and it is NOT our WiFi that's the problem, because with the Canon printer, it just works--no fussing with connections, works every time).
One last thing, this Canon printer, for all its capabilities, has a small footprint and is not clunky and heavy at all. It would work well in a small office or home study. My husband has to print a lot for his work, and he is looking forward to not constantly replacing ink cartridges all the time. I print out a lot of pictures and other documents in color, and this printer's colors are great--not over saturated looking, not pale or grainy looking either; they turn out nice and sharp with good detail.

Mega tank printers are where it is at nowadays. The GX3020 gives a three-year or 80,000 copy warranty and claims up to 6,000 B/W 14,000 Color copies with full ink tanks. Replacement bottles are inexpensive, especially with the aftermarket options that are out there.
The GX3020 took longer to set up than most printers I’ve set up in the past. Some setup had to be done on the interface screen itself, and the rest on the smartphone app. One thing I did like is there was no need to set up an account with Canon in order to do the set up. The calibration process took over 10 minutes, which was the majority of the set up time.
In use, the 3020 printed B/W copies at a rate of 18 per minute. Color was only slightly slower at 13 copies per minute. Two sided copies weren’t an issue. However, print quality was less than I expected. When compared to another well-known name brand printer with large ink tanks, I found the Canon to put out slight faded color copies. Considering the prices are the same, this was slightly disappointing.
I was also disappointed that the GX3020 did not come with a USB port of a thumb drive. It made scanning and sharing files more difficult. Again, I have another major name brand All-In-One with this function, and seeing as how it cost the same, I feel like there is no reason that the Canon could not have had one.
So for me, I like where Canon has headed with the MegaTank style printers, but I feel like this unit missed the boat on a couple of key points. It is decently fast but print quality is just okay, and the inability to save scanned docs to a thumb drive can limit its scanning ability.

Good Tank Printer!

This is a very well made canon printer which uses ink tanks instead of cartridges for printing.
The 250 sheet drawer, a 100 sheet tray at the rear top of the printer makes this a clean paper storage type of printer. You don’t need to worry about loading paper everytime you print.
It’s a bit pricey but will make up for the price over a period of time since it is a tank based printer, the link will be cheaper
Pros
• Prints, scans, and copies, basically an all in one printer with low running costs.
• 250 paper drawer
• Supports 2 sided printing
• Wifi enabled and you can print from anywhere using your computer or mobile.
• Since it is a tank based printer, you can just buy some generic ink when it gets exhausted.
Cons
------
• Price & i miss the document feeder
Build Quality & Setup
-------------------------------
It weights about 19 lbs so its not that light but it is also not that heavy. The printer itself is very well made has a flatbet scanner.
The printer has a small display which you can use for setting up the printer for wifi access. I just connected my laptop through the USB cable you can also use wifi to download the latest driver.
Once you pour the inks into the tank you are good to go.
The ink that comes with it provides for 5000 black and 5000 color printing.
Printing, scanning , copying and quality
-------------------------
This is a all in one flat bed printer. So you can just put a document on the flat bed to scan computer or you can scan documents through the cellphone using the canon app.
The scanned copies can be uploaded to your cloud or emailed or saved to local.
The printer payload is 33k paper copies.
The printer prints actually came out pretty well and I am very impressed with the quality of the prints.
Copying is straight forward, place it in flat bed and you can copy it.
Here is where I miss the document feeder to scan or copy multiple copies.
Overall , this is a great printer to have at home or office.

This is a heavy duty printer that really surprised me by its features and printing quality. If you want a printer that will last for a long time and print lots and lots of documents - get this Canon Maxify MegaTank All-in-One printer. With its Integrated Ink Tanks, you can easily print up to 6,000 pages Black and White and 14,000 pages Color using new set of inks! That is unheard of! As we all know printing ink costs a ton of money and tends to run out when you most need it, you won't be facing situations like that with this Canon Maxify MegaTank printer.
I like its compact but productive design, all controls are accessible on the front panel. You can easily set it up with an app called Canon PRINT and can print away in minutes. Printed documents come out very sharp text and color looks crisp and vibrant, all thanks to its 4-Color Pigment Ink system. Since it is a wireless printer you can send your stuff to be printed from any mobile phone or your computer, it also supports Apple AirPrint feature.
All in all, it is a great printer, that will last for a while has an amazing 3 year warranty, will print great posters, business cards, labels and photos. Money well spent.

High Quality Printer!

This Canon printer is high quality and does ALL the things! It prints, it copies, it scans! The set up was super easy only taking me 10 minutes. WiFi connectivity also was super easy & quick following guided instructions. The printer has a 3 way feed and adapts to different paper types. I love to print my photos at home and this printers has a photo paper option and prints photos clear and nice quality. The text is only nice and crisp-easy to read. This printer offers tons of features yet its footprint is small-taking up minimal space in my office. The ink cartridges are also easy to replace and are long lasting. The control buttons are simple and large-easy to press the correct control without being touchy. When printing lengthy documents I found the printer to be quiet and super quick!
The printer is white in color and comes with a 3 year manufacturer warranty. A great bonus when you spend a little more to get a quality printer.
I’m very happy with my upgrade to this Canon printer and highly recommend!

Finally, a Fuss Free Printing Experience

The Canon MAXIFY GX3020 is my new go-to in printing. When I’m looking for a printer, I want something that is easy to use and produces quality prints, two requirements that seem simple but are often difficult to find. The setup process was flawless. Following the included instructions, I could connect to Wi-Fi quickly, and I was printing in a matter of minutes. I cannot stress enough how important it is to follow the directions. The keyed nozzles on the printer are a nice touch when filling the ink system. I couldn’t imagine what you’d have to do if ink was placed in the wrong tank. Luckily, Canon eliminates any of that anxiety with the “keyed nozzle” system. Overall, my experience has been outstanding. The Canon PRINT app compliments the printer's features and adds versatility I didn't know I wanted. I love the ability to print from anywhere by simply using my phone. Gone are the days of being tethered by a cable. 10/10 would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an inkjet that is easy to use, produces high-quality prints, and is effortless to maintain.

Great printer with a few small setup hurdles

Starting with the setup. Included legalize and safety paperwork is nearly useless. One card with setup QR and URL that takes you to website for downloading platform appropriate app is the only useful item. Was impressed by the fact there was absolutely no Styrofoam, and minimal plastic wrap in the packaging.
I setup the printer with a Windows PC and connected via USB cable (not included). I Followed the link on web page for First-Time Setup (Windows) and downloaded the Canon Inkjet Smart Connect app from Microsoft Store.
Strangely the setup wizard of the smart connect app would not detect the printer connected via USB even though the home page of the app detected it and showed a “Complete Setup” notification status for the printer. I completed the initial setup on the printer itself via the front panel buttons (language, date, etc.). Also, clicking troubleshoot in the app took me to an online manual where I looked up how to load ink, which is easy and straightforward by the way. The smart design of the bottles also prevents you from putting the wrong color ink into the CMYK color reservoirs. There is A LOT of ink included so you will be set for quite some time before having to refill.
I then discovered the Wi-Fi Connection Assistant under the “Recommended Apps” option from the smart connect main menu. It asked me for a password, and I did have to do an internet search to determine that the password is the device serial number. Interestingly the connection assistant also had no problems communicating with the printer via USB. It detected my Wi-Fi networks and was able to connect without any issues. Also, once the printer was connected to the network the setup notification on the home page of the app went away.
I tested printing from apps and browser on the PC and from iOS mobile device. Print speed is very fast at standard quality and slower but still quick on high quality. Print quality for documents is very good while photo print quality on glossy paper is pretty average. When trying to print on 4x6 paper loaded into the rear feeder it kept telling me that 4x6 paper was not loaded and took a couple of tries before it would recognize and print without complaining. Was not that intuitive but discovered how to set the paper type via the front panel controls. There is also a 2nd rear feeder that I have not used yet that is for thicker paper and hard to use if the printer is near a wall.
Scanning on the flat bed scanner produced reasonably good scans and worked first time from my PC. I did initially encounter a problem trying to scan directly from the printer as it showed a “Processing please wait…” but nothing ever showed up on the computer. Found out this was due to a hidden popup on the computer asking which program to use since I had other scan software installed.
Making copies also worked well after figuring out how to change the default paper source to the cassette paper feed. It annoyingly kept asking me to load the rear feeder when I had just put paper into the tray.
Anyway, after overcoming a few initial minor hurdles that might have befuddled someone not very experienced with computers and technology the it has proven to be very capable and nice quality all-in-one printer.

MegaTank, Mega Quality

The Canon Maxify MegaTank GX3020 printer is a definite "recommend" in my opinion. Overall, my experience in setup and testing of the printer has been very positive. I'll highlight some of my key take-aways here.
Unboxing: The printer and starter ink is packaged well, with all accessories neatly organized and safely tucked away. Everything is laid out inside the box in a way that makes unpacking nice and easy.
Setup: The setup process is fairly straightforward, with one caveat that I will explain further here. The printer comes with quick start guide and a step by step walkthrough of the entire setup process is provided by scanning a QR code with your mobile device. Filling the ink tanks with the bottles provided, though somewhat intimidating at first, was very simple and mess free with the provided bottles.. just be sure to follow the instructions and this process will be trouble free for you! I ran into a little trouble when attempting to connect to cloud printing. During this step, the printer display screen asked for the administrator password. This password was not readily available in the paperwork nor in the step by step guide online. In order to finish this step correctly, I had to search Canon's online help center. It took me approximately an extra 10 minutes to complete this step and overall was not a huge ordeal.
Use: This printer is FAST, and it produces crystal clear prints. I have printed high resolution pictures on both plain paper as well as semi-gloss photo paper and the quality is fantastic. These prints were done with the printer on a standard quality setting, yet the quality was impeccable, in my humble opinion.
Overall, this printer has changed my mind about ink-jet printing. I had become accustomed to using high quality laser printers both in my work office and my home office. Even then, I'm still very impressed and thoroughly happy with the efficiency, performance and quality of this printer.

Absolutely great Printer

One of the first printers I ever owned was a Canon printer many many moons ago. LOL. Back then Canon was known for such products but my experience wasn't the greatest. At that time, I noticed that the quality of the printers and especially longevity of the ink was not good. I turned to Brothers and HP printers for my home and office use. After using this Gx3020 for a few awhile now, I've changed my mind. This printer is awesome.
Set-up is pretty much like any other printer and the options in print is quite numerous. This all-in-one can do everything but fax and to be perfectly honest, I can't remember the last time I faxed anything. LOL. So, I'm pretty sure not many people will really need that option. They have an app that will help the set up process and will let you print from your phone or tablet as well. Filling the ink was a little scary at first, but once you figure it out, it was actually quite simple. Now, what's really important to me was the print quality and ink depletion. After many prints, I found this printer to be very fast with great quality prints. All my prints was quick and images was clean and crisp with no runs. I noticed very little depletion in ink quantity and that really makes me happy. Gonna save a lot of money in the future. Speaking of that, I saw in the literature that this printer is backed by Canon for 3 years. That was really surprising, I don't know of any manufacturer that has that long of a warranty on a printer. That in itself should get anyone to purchase this unit. Shows me that Canon is really confident in their products. The only complaint for me, and it's real minor, is on this particular model the screen is a little small. For my old eyes, this can be hard. Other than that, I love this printer.

I am going to base this review on features and functionality of printers I’ve had in the past, especially our most recent one that this Canon replaced. The print quality of this printer is great - text and photos look perfect. I must say though, I feel this is a basic expectation of printers these days, especially ones in this price range. The print quality is the reason for 3 stars of my review.
The reason for deducting 2 stars are glaring issues, for me, and the reasons why I cannot recommend this printer. First of all, when trying to print when the printer is in “sleep mode”, it consistently takes about 2 minutes for the printer to receive the data and begin printing. I actually started the stopwatch on my phone to time it and it took exactly 1 min and 57 sec. I am wirelessly printing from a Mac desktop, which is the same setup as our previous printer. That printer took closer to 30 seconds to begin printing from sleep mode. I must say though, that printer had a light on the panel that stayed on, but the display was off. With this Canon printer, the display is off and there are no lights on. It looks as if it’s completely off. Maybe the other printer wasn’t actually in sleep mode, but it looked like it was.
The other HUGE issue relates to printing photos. I tested this a couple times, because I couldn’t believe my eyes. The first time I printed a photo, it took so long that I had to leave the house before it was done printing. The next time I printed a photo, I made sure I could wait around until it was done. I printed a photo directly from the Preview app on the Mac. The photo was only 1950 x 2600 pixels (1.3 MB). It printed as a 5x7 photo. I started the stopwatch on my phone, when the printer grabbed the paper to start printing. It took exactly 11 min and 34 sec. I know this sounds unbelievable, or like it’s a typo, but it is true. I have no idea why it would take that long to print, what I consider, a fairly low resolution photo. It’s insane and makes me wonder how long the first photo actually took because it was a much higher resolution photo. I’ll mention again, I have the same computer-to-printer wireless setup as I did with our previous printer… which took no more than 3 minutes to print a high resolution photo. This is the main reason why I cannot recommend this printer.
Another feature that’s an issue for me, but may not be for others, is the fact that you MUST use the rear top feeder to print a photo. If your print settings are to print a photo on photo paper, you have to have photo paper ready to go in the rear top feeder. I was actually surprised by this because, with our previous printer, I could put photo paper in the main paper tray and it would print the photo as expected. That’s how I tried to initially print a photo with this Canon printer and it gave me a paper error message. This is actually an inconvenience for us because we keep our printer in a cabinet that does not have enough clearance for using the rear top feeder. I had to pull the printer out of the cabinet in order to print photos. I looked in the manual to see if there was a way I could print photos on photo paper from the main tray. It only instructed to place the photo paper in rear top tray. Luckily we don’t print photos that often.
All other basic features of the printer seemed to work as expected. Printing a 2-sided text document was very quick and clear. Scanning a full-page document, from the built-in printer/scanner app on the Mac, was also quick and very clear. This printer is also wirelessly connected to 2 Windows computers, which was very easy to set up.
I’m not sure if there is a technical issue with this printer, but 11.5 minutes to print a photo is insane, and makes me regret getting rid of our old printer.

Solid Printer With Sharp, Detailed, Quick Printing

The Canon MAXIFY MegaTank GX3020 (referred to as Canon GX3020 for the remainder of this review) is bigger than I’d thought it would be, but it’s a great printer. The setup doesn’t take much time at all, and the instructions are clear. The app used to set up the printer is not great, and never found my printer; I performed the setup on the printer itself just fine.
The control panel is set up fine, but it would be great if it were back-lit; in some situations, the thin white lettering against the black background can be hard to see. Perhaps the ability to adjust the angle would help.
I’ve successfully used it with my iMac, iPad 11 PRO, and iPhone 14PRO; communication is quick. When printing in Black & White, the printing is very fast, and the paper output is extremely clear. When printing in color on photo paper, the picture prints a bit slower than the B&W, which is expected, and is very crisp with nicely saturated color and detail; the ink dries fairly quickly. The amount of ink that comes with the printer is kinda amazing too.
Other notable features: The paper tray has a high capacity, so it holds a great deal of paper. The scanning function is quiet, efficient, resulting in a very sharp picture.
PROS:
• Fast B&W printing
• Color pictures are relatively quick to print
• Quick communication with devices
• Large amount of ink
• Scanning is quiet and fast
CONS:
• It’s a bulky printer
• The Canon app isn’t needed, and does not work that great
• Control panel is hard to see

Mega Printer

I have had printer's from every possible manufacturer over the years, and Canon has always been among the best. Printers don't always have a long shelf life for me, I tend to get a new one every 18 months or so, but this one looks like it could last a lot longer.
The printer was incredibly easy to set up. Remove all the the tape and then start filling the ink tanks. This printer comes with A LOT of ink, it's not called Mega Tank for nothing. There was zero mess pouring the ink, which was impressive. Once that's done, power the printer on then follow the on screen instructions. The Canon app makes the setup of the printer really easy. I've had some real issues in the past with the setup, but this one was headache free. I was able to add to my PC quickly and was off and running.
Printing does take a bit to get started, but once it gets going, pages come out quickly and are high quality. Colors are bright and the black looks fantastic. I printed some marketing materials and forms for work and they look much crisper than my previous printer.
It comes with a flat bed scanner which I often need for work and then the feed scanner which works quite well.
I've printed at least 50 pages and the ink tanks levels haven't budged. This one is a keeper.
