Good, cheap, reliable

Since I don't print high-quality documents using this printer, the ink lasts a fair amount of time using the Draft quality setting. For a cartridge that's about $17-18 at Best Buy, it does the job for b&w text printing on your average white paper at about 90 brightness rating.

A genuine Canon ink cartridge means high quality

Recently I tried the refillable ink cartridges from an online company, they arrived with ink spilled all through the package. I will never try that again! I will always use the Canon ink cartridges that I can depend on for quality and performance!
