Cost Efficient Color Printer + Setup Tips
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I give the Canon Pixma G4210 4/5 based on print quality and AFTER you set it up, it's great. Positives. Print quality is great. The separate ink tanks for black and color mean you don't end up wasting mone throwing away an ink cartridge that's full of one color but empty of another. Size wise, the G420 is compact print speed is relatively quick for an inkjet. Canon also ship the printer with A LOT of ink. 3 bottles of black ink mean you would probably get at least a year or more for an average user and not need to buy replacement ink. Canon also ship the G4210 with 3 full color ink bottles. The ink system is all bottle/chamber based. So you're pouring ink into the "Megatank" chambers (Canon's words, not mine). It's anxiety inducing loading in the ink. I was a little worried that I would end up leaking or spilling ink onto my hardwood floors. But the process was easier than expected. If you have ever reloaded an ink jet printer cartridge before, the process will be familiar to you. Scan quality is super impressive. Infinitely better than an old Dell All in One laser printer that I am replacing. Once you are setup on WiFi, printing directly via your phone is straight forward. I haven't setup Google cloud print yet, but the G4210 does support google cloud print. Challenges - Installation Advice Bookmark this review, it will save you some of the frustrations I experienced. 1. There's no USB cable included in the box, a USB cable is mandatory if you want to setup the printer to work on WiFi. I don't understand why Canon include a telephone cable (if you want to use it as a fax) but not a printer cable. So budget an extra $10-$20 for that. 2. WiFi Setup. The default password for the Canon G4210 is the serial number of your printer (see sticker on the back). You think Canon would document that somewhere easy to find in the manual, but it's apparently a secret. 3. The Canon G4210 ships with a CD with software you need for setup (seriously, who owns a computer with a CD). You can download the software you need from here: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/megatank-inkjet-printers/all-megatank-inkjet-printers/pixma-g4210?cm_sp=CSO-_-PFListing-_-G4210 4. For WiFi Setup, you need to download. IJ Network Device Setup Utility Ver.1.8.1 (Windows) Also, make sure your computer is connected to a non 5G WiFi network. Otherwise WiFi setup won't work, as the printer detects via USB and connects to whatever WiFi your computer is connected to. 5. Once you are setup on WiFi, the printer actually has an HTTP interface, just connect to the IP address of the printer. To login to the UI you will need the serial number again. 6. If you're a Windows user, go to the Windows Store and install the Canon software from there. It's much better than the experience you get from the downloads available on Canon's website. Hope all of the above helps someone else. NEGATIVES The "info" screen is not backlit. So good luck reading that in anything other than direct light or daylight. The lack of backlit and absence of a printer cable is really Canon saving a few dollars and resulting in a bad user experience which is frustrating. Wireless setup and Canon software could be better, but now you have my tips above you should be 100x better off than me. Verdict. I haven't used an inkjet printer in a while, but the need for color printer weighed high with my kids in middle/high school. The Canon G4210 is much more cost effective than a color laser. Print quality is really good and we printed all weekend for a science project and barely made a dent in the ink chambers. Reminder/Tip the default password that you need to login to the Canon G4210 network settings is the printer serial number.

Great Quality for Solid Price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer fits the bill if you are looking for a solidly built unit that provides good quality printing. I haven't had it for long so I cant speak to the toner use but the print quality is very good and it does an adequate job of printing pictures. It's easy to set up and easy to print from your phone or tablet. Great for printing pics from your phone. I would recommend this printer.

Excellent Printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer, once you get it going is excellent. It will take you a bit of time on setup. Connecting to wifi is a bit of a chore, but once you get this printer up and running it prints and prints and prints. Appx 18,000 pages of black ink are possible with the ink provided in the box. That is amazing. It does print very SLOWLY. Why this is true is a head scratcher. Come on Cannon, why so slow? Also a bit odd is that the paper tray only holds 100 sheets of paper. A high volume printer should have a high paper capacity. The page ink quality is exceptional. Printing quality of photos is excellent, but I don't use my printer for that. Others may and the results will be very good. In the past I have heard of Cannon Mega Tank printers shutting down and effectively ending their life with an error code. I hope Cannon has addressed this problem in this 4200 series. This printer is pretty sturdy too. The associated app works well and the capabilities to my phone are very good. This printer is a winner. Cannon has made a good product here. I am keeping my fingers crossed on the longevity part.

Small foot print multifunction
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Canon - PIXMA G4210 caught my eye, after looking at competitors with similar printers that did not use cartridges. I was looking to upgrade my previous printer with something that wont hit the bank when you need to purchase more ink. The Megatanks system is quite nice, and I like that on empty, one bottle of ink will fill the tank for that color. Just be sure to pay attention when filling the tanks up because you could easily put the wrong color ink in the wrong slot. The printer has a small footprint and easily fit on my desk compared to my previous printer, with the paper being loaded through the back and doesn't sit in a tray on the front. Set up was fairly simple, the printer did not want to join my wifi from the config, I tried to joining manually but wasn't 100% on how to put the numbers in using the fax dial pad, so I just used the WPS to join to wifi. Once added, I have not had any issues communicating to the printer when I needed to print anything. Once I had everything set up, I ran a few prints, and the blacks would looks a little dull. I ran through all of the Print Head Calibration and other built in calibration tools. Once I did all of this it was slightly better, I did change the settings to best on print config and saw an improvement. My favorite thing about this has to be Ink Tanks, the cost of the ink and being able to visually see my ink levels is amazing! It's never really a surprise when I go to print and find that I am low on a color and need to install another cartridge just to print my black and white document. I am not sure if this printer does not allow you to print if you have no color, as I have yet to run my ink down yet, but I at least know where I am and not relying on software to tell me what my ink levels are. All and all, this printer is really nice, with a larger display and a slightly better setup, most of my complaints will go away.

Such capacity!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Review for Canon - PIXMA G4210 Wireless MegaTank All-In-One Printer - Black I’m happy to review this printer as I needed to replace a ten year old inkjet that was beginning to have problems. The Good: - Volume printing! Yes, this printer is all about capacity. Giant bottles of ink that should last more than a year. And extra black bottles too! - Affordable ink. The bottles are large and reasonably priced. Because you fill only the low color or B&W tank, you save money by not throwing away cartridges that may be out of only one color. - Easy setup on the Mac and with IOS devices. I’ve read elsewhere that Windows is not so kind, but I’m not sure that is Canon’s fault. - Lots of on-line tweakability. The Bad: - Ok, the little screen display on the printer is crazy tiny and not backlit. This printer is in a dark corner of the office and I need a flashlight in daylight to read the display! - On-line only user doc. The unboxing and setup doc is printed and works SO well. But I have to go online (or use a downloaded copy) of the manual to look up specific features. Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I do appreciate a decent user manual. In fairness, the documentation is well done, although as pointed out elsewhere, not complete when it comes to adjusting settings, etc. - Uncertainty about this technology: the tanks channel ink to the print heads through a series of tubes. (It’s really cool to look at the setup!) But I wonder what happens in a year, do the tubes clog? What if I don’t print for week? Do I get ink jams? Overall, reasonable printing speed, ease of use, capacity — all big wins! I took off one star for the tiny un-lit display.

Stunningly Vivid Images
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Canon - PIXMA G4210 Wireless MegaTank All-In-One Printer produces amazing, colorful, vibrant picture printouts with impressive speed. Images look absolutely beautiful. The large-capacity-ink reservoirs ensure you can use the printer for extended durations without the need to replace the ink cartridges as often. The design is very nice. Featuring a solid chassis, with a smooth finish and an easy-to-use control panel. It’s very easy to connect to a wireless network, and print directly from mobile devices. Very convenient when needing to print images from a phone instead of importing them to a computer. You can also print standard documents with ease. Documents without color print very fast. I would highly recommend this printer.

Not the easiest to set up
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A good effort to help save $ on toner. Took a bit of time to get set up. Must squeeze toner out of each bottle. Able to print once from Pixel 3XL phone and Windows 10 laptop but not Chromebox. Too bad because my Chromebox is a home business machine. Chromebox also on a wired connection and not excited about switching to Wi-Fi. Chromebox also not Android compatible. Google Assistant supported on this model. Kudos to Canon. Also supports Google Cloud Print too. Didn’t think a Gmail printout looked very good. Still for the right supported devices/OS and skillset, I would recommend trying this printer.

Just about can't miss
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Every time I think that we may no longer need printers, a scenario presents itself requiring production of physical representation of documentation or media. Printers still have a place in this nearly fully digital age. Canon has given me some great printer experiences in the past, and I expected nothing less from the PIXMA G4210. Of course, this thing was well packaged, and fits the standard bill of compact form as with most all-in-ones. During setup, you immediately notice the ink reservoirs. To be honest, the Mega Tank reference is real and evident. Why no one else has seen the light and just increased the tank size is beyond comprehension. Everything else is standard fare: ethernet and wireless connection, small LCD screen, phone jack, etc. Setup is fairly straightforward. Using the LCD screen, you can guide your way through connection to your wireless router (or connect an ethernet cable). If you navigate to the printer name or IP address using your browser, there is a nice web UI allowing printer management. Canon has utility apps in iOS and Android as well. This is all standard stuff at this point, and really, it comes down to performance. With the ability to print from mobile devices (iOS and Android), cloud printing, and standard network printing, it’s difficult to find a more versatile printer on the market. Canon executes these all very well. Print quality is not the best I’ve experienced, not even from Canon, but it’s still good – and will meet the needs of most photographers. Where this thing really shines, in my opinion, is in ink longevity. Man, this thing can really churn out some docs and pics. Those ink tanks are second to none in endurance. This alone affords the PIXMA G4210 a look. Throw in there edge to edge printing and printing from all of your mobile devices, and you have a hard one to beat. In the market for a printer? Even as an all-in-one, this should be on your list. All-in-one shoppers need not hesitate. If you have anything resembling an office setting where you print quite a bit, the Mega Tank G4210 is made for you.

Nope. Nope. Nope
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy set up. I was quite excited for this product. I liked that the ink was cheaper, and easier to insert. I didnt want to have to change cartridges all the time. I was hesitant between this one and the epson. This product toted about the same quality pictures as the espon ecotank i was looking at. While the epson was visually nicer and smaller, and you can fill the paper tray in the front instead of feeding through the back, but with the significant price difference the more clunky canon won out. That was until i took it home and tried it out. Had i known i would feel like im back in the 90's i never would have bought it. A printer that is bigger and toughts a nex gen technology can even do a simple double sidded paper. That is a definite must have in this day and age. Sorry but i never would have expected a double sided printing ability would be a game changer in todays society.

Going back to EPSON
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The whole feel of this printer is cheap compared to my previous Epson printer. I must admit, I am not a technical person. This has been by far the worst experience trying to set up a printer. I have set up epson printers before with little to no frustration. .Of like to go full on OFFICE SPACE on this printer. The screen is too little to read, and the directions brought me to so many dead ends that I finally GAVE UP after 3 hours!! It wouldn't allow me to make a copy of a photo because there was "no PC connected". . Why would it need to be connected to a PC to make a simple photo copy? Any way. . Save yourself the time and get the USER FRIENDLY EPSON

10% Successful Printing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to love this printer, I have spent hundreds of hours troubleshooting and using forums online to try to solve problems and 9 times out of 10 there is some issue when I go to print. First- despite having a perfect WiFi connection, it never connects to my PC or Macbook. We have moved locations, bought a new router, spent countless hours on the phone with ITs- the connection is always a gamble, you never know when it will work Second- For 4 months it printed as if it were out of ink despite being full. We spent about 30+ hours troubleshooting that issue over several months (had to buy a new printer in the meantime), and eventually it just started working again. Third- really no customer support to speak of. I regret buying this. I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours running to Staples to print things because this printer always fails at the wrong time. I wish it worked, sorry.

Terrible Printer and a waste of money!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you own a Mac forget this printer. It works reasonably well on my windows computers but refuses to print both sides with Mac and wants to print a cover page for everything even after telling it not to. Set up is terrible and that little view screen is awful. Don't expect much help from online manual either it's terrible. Spent hours with canon tech and they blame Apple. Apple blames canon and microsoft was no help. Wanted one with tanks but this thing is not what I hoped for. I wouldn't recommend it and wish I had my money back. I figure 300.00 down the tubes.
