Store clerk thought this might be a comparable replacement for the discontinued Epson Artisan. This Canon Pixma is HORRIBLE! The colors are all off, it prints way too dark, it prints white lines through the image, the black areas are not a nice, dense black like the Epson Artisan was. All installation instructions were followed meticulously to the letter. Print settings are correct. This a VERY LOW QUALITY printer. DO NOT PURCHASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This printer does not have a USB to connect to an older computer. It is supposed to be able to be used wirelessly even when it is off. It does not. It automatically turns off within a few minutes after use. It takes a long time to be ready to print after turning it on. I am very sorry that I spent extra money to get better photo prints and end up with this machine. By the time I learned all that was wrong with it. It was too late to return it.

I am unable to scan using this printer because it is not compatible with my laptop. It is a brand new Dell laptop so I'm not trying to use an outdated computer with a new printer. Also, it does not have paper feed capabilities. It has six ink cartridges which consume the ink quickly. Not worth the price.

This printer was recommended by the Canon rep as their best midline product. I set it up and can't get it to work. None of my devices can find it on the home network. I even tried to hook up by USB and still no luck. Oh. And it isn't supported!

Long story short, great connectivity features, but poor print quality on glossy photo paper. The ink stays wet for hours and smudges when trying to pick the photo up from the printer.. Returned and bought an Epson, which did not have this issue.

I bought this printer as a gift for my daughter. She used it on a very limited basis and it is broken already. I am disapponted that it had such a short usable life.

I returned 2 of these... one printed in nothing but red tones and the other would not print all. Picked up a Canon MX922, which worked right away.

    Excellent print quality, fast printing

I love this printer. It is fast and easy to use, and the setup was simple. When I had problems (paper jam) I referenced the online manual (a weighty tome!) and found out how to deal with the problem and the solution. I haven't printed a lot of color, but the clarity and color of the prints were terrific on quality glossy picture paper. On matte finished card stock it wasn't as good - the blacks didn't pop out quite as well but other colors were still excellent. The ink seems to be reasonably priced for the the amount of printing I can do with it. Get the XL size ones. one weird thing (maybe a setup issue on my part) is that black copies used up color ink. It should only use black. Pros - speed, quality, easy setup. Cons - no rear tray for heavy paper.

After much research, I decided to go with this Canon printer. It prints photos and documents beautifully and does not use as much ink as my previous Epson printer. The set up was easy and the printer is simple to use. Love it!

Great replacement for an older HP all-in-one

I was not looking forward to buying a new printer. If you've read many printer reviews, you've seen that in general, they are rated much lower than other tech devices. But I had an HP all-in-one that was quite old and barely working, so I had to get something. I looked at HPs, Canons, and Epsons, and while I wasn't excited about any of them, this one looked as if it would be the best of the ones I saw. I have been quite pleased with it. I know some people have written that they had trouble setting up the WiFi, and I agree that the documentation for setup is a little less direct than it could be, but if you go step-by-step you shouldn't have any trouble. It connected to my network with no problems and is still working fine (it's been over a month). The touchscreen control panel is relatively intuitive and easy to use, and also easy to read. There are brief directions for the various activities on the screen itself, which makes it easier to do whatever you need to do. So far I have printed text, copied, and scanned, and all three have been easy and have worked well. I have not used it as a photo printer so I can't report about that. The printer is quiet and works faster than my old HP. I also like its lower profile, and I liked the color choices. Based on owning it for over a month, with moderate use, I would recommend it. The only thing it doesn't do that my old HP did is to fax, but since you can scan a document and email it as a PDF, that hasn't been a problem for me.
