I am now using my new printer for 6 weeks. My prior printer was a Canon MX922. worked well and was very pleased with it and it died suddenly after 2 1/2 years. Was told by tech support it was not worth repairing it. This new printer has same functionality however it is much smaller and seems flimsier. The old one fit nicely on my desk so there was no pressing need to make it smaller. I had a supply of Canon 250 series ink cartridges which are now no good because this printer takes 280 series cartridges. Don't understand the reason for changing, vary annoying. also the old cartridges had 7 and 11ml of ink in standard and XL sizes. The new printer has THREE sizes 5.6, 11 and 18.5ml. that is standard, XL and XXL. (Canon please stop playing games with your ink cartridges!). the most annoying thing about the new printer is the cover. the old printer cover would stay up part way to replace a page for the next scan. the new one does not do that and has to go completely vertical to replace a scan page. also old printer scanned duplex through the feeder; new one only scans simplex. unfortunately I don't expect this printer to last. sorry state of printers today. they have us captive to buy their expensive ink and we have not much recourse. sad. One new thing that is an improvement, this printer goes into sleep mode to save power and "wakes up" automatically when something is sent to print or scan. old one was left on all the time. as I do for my PC.

Printer works great & prints clear documents. The only set back is having to purchase ink cartridges more often than one would think thus costing more money in the long run.

It prints excellent photos. Only complaint is that the Wi-Fi signal on it frequently fails to connect when turning on the PC. Windows 10 troubleshooter does always seem to get it to reconnect so it's not a huge drawback.

This is the best printer i have brought till date. I was tired of buying some junk in last 7 years and had to replace my printers multiple times but this one works like a charm. Sweet and has multiple options of cassette and rear tray. Scanning and printing is as close to being real. i would definitely recommend it to everyone who are looking to buy printers.

I have had canons for the last 10 years. The quality of print for both text and pictures is great. Still do not understand why the front flap has to be raised for printing. Can see this as a future issue about wear and tear on the unit

Decent replacement for my Pixma MG7720. I miss the 2 tray cassettes on the bottom of the 7720 rather than only one plus the rear paper tray on the TR8520, and some of the parts feel flimsy, but I like the ADF for scanning/copying multiple pages, and the duplex feature. I’m not thrilled about having to keep the front control panel raised in order for a print job to automatically turn on the printer and process, but that’s what I do to keep from having to go to the other side of the house to turn it on every time I want to print something from my laptop or tablet. All in all, I find it a pretty good replacement for my Canon Pixma MG7720 printer which lasted a good many years.
