This PIXMA TR 8520 all-in-one printer is aptly named. It fits on the end table along with room for a lamp and space for some extra paperwork. We have used it wirelessly with our smartphones as well as laptops. The double-sided printing has come in very handy also. After extensive use during the Christmas season, it shows us that it is miserly on the ink as well. If you are shopping for a compact unit that performs well I would recommend it.

This is my very first printer purchase for my newly established home office.
I wanted something easy to install (check), fast print time (check) and above average quality of the printed material (check).
Also, the price point is very reasonable. The only downside might be the cost of the Canon ink, however I was willing to accept this higher cost as part of the overall cost/benefit analysis.

This printer replaced another Canon printer. This one prints much faster. You can also buy larger capacity ink tanks which is very useful since as we all know, inkjet printers can go through ink quickly when the tank capacity is small. Another feature that I like is the ability for automatic double sided printing. The other printer would do double sided printing but you had to manually turn the sheets over and reinsert them into the rear paper slot. This one prints the first side and then pulls the sheet back in and prints the second side. Works great. There is also an automatic document feeder for copying several sheets at a time. Wi-fi set up was super simple. Only took a couple of minutes and I was up and running. All in all I'm very happy with this prjnter.

I really like this printer, but only gave it 4 stars because the first one I got did not print properly and I had to exchange it . I exchanged it for the exact same model and it is perfect. It was easy to set up and I think has a lot of capability for a very reasonable price.

My second Canon

My first Canon was a MG6220 so I have something to compare the TR8520 to. My MG6220 quit after 8 years and was very 3rd party ink friendly.
THE BAD: My NEW TR8520 feels very cheaply built compared to my 8 year old Canon. I would think after 8 years things would have been improved, but yet it seems they tried to cut corners to build this one cheaper. The TR8520 has a really flimsy output paper holder. It makes all kinds of wind-up noises when you start a print job. My wife asked me, what is wrong with your printer? The auto document feeder pulls some of the sheets through crooked. The display panel MUST be lifted up before it will print; 'way up' and this gets in my way all of the time. The flap is always 'sticking out' the front of your printer. Very odd design. Ink cost is high as I use original Canon ink during the warranty period. I hope after the warranty is over I can find reasonably priced 3rd party ink. This one lacks the option to print directly to a CD / DVD.
The GOOD: Setup was easy. Print quality is very good. The scanner / copy feature does a good job. I like a printer with two paper input options; this has a rear tray as well as a front cassette. I can leave legal size paper or envelopes in the rear tray while leaving my letter sized paper in the front loading cassette.
OVERALL: Not real happy with this purchase. I hated to spend a lot more on a printer, but now I wish I had bit the bullet and purchased something of better build quality than what I received here. Although my first Canon was so well built, I was certainly expecting the same on even better than my 8 year old Canon.

Great printer and very easy to use. There’s an option to print via cell phone which is wonderful. The color is crisp and the speed of printing isn’t bad at all. Cartridges are pretty affordable and the photo quality comes out very nice.

leave it to any manufacturer to keep changing the products instead of standing behind the older ones. I had to buy a new printer as the older one of two years began acting up. I bought the new printer and, of course, it needed new ink cartridges. the 251 and 271 inks I used, which look exactly the same, are not usable from one to the next printer.... and now I have to buy 281 inks, which still look exactly the same as the older 251 and 271 inks.... and of course, you cant yet buy these in generic form but are required to pay 50-60 dollars for all new inks... printing is ok, but still not as good as the older printers I owned from hp. while I would still recommend the printer for its feed ability from the top and the scanning capability, I would not recommend due to the fact you have to waste all the previously owned inks and buy new

I bought this printer in order to replace a cheaper one. This one happened to be on sale though the original price was much higher. I am happy I purchased this computer. It was easy to set up. As well as connect all of the computers, laptops, and phones to it. Fantastic print quality is as I could expect from canon. The overall quality of this product is a 10/10. Oh did I mention it’s touch screen as well?

I gave 4 stars bc I haven't used the scanner or fax yet but it prints well . I like tht it's not big an clunky and the fact tht if one of the 5 inks goes out u can still print unlike my previous printer. Overall the price was good an it meets my needs.

Way better than the Pixma Pro 9000. A lot faster. Easy to install. Set it up wired to 2 laptops and wirelessly to one android tablet and one ipad with no problems. Colors are great. Like it much better than the Canon photo printer. Less ink to buy. Only been a little over a month but its doing great. Prints very fast. Used the scanner to scan photos to my laptop. Great quality.

Been using it for about a month. Works exactly as described. Great printer for price. Have had great experiences with Canon printers.
Only complaint would be that if it is in another room, you have to open it to use it. Is not automatic.

I got this to replace a 7-year-old Canon that finally quit. I like the smaller footprint, and it was incredibly easy to install. The print quality is excellent, both color and B&W. Remember to completely pull out the paper holder in front before printing, otherwise the paper will FLY across the room! I've only had this for a few weeks, but I'm very pleased with the purchase.

The Canon TR8520 is a great printer. The quality of the prints and copies is superb (equal or better than the quality of the much more expensive printer I used at work).
Single page prints are fast and the ink consumption is very reasonable. Right out of the box I printed and copied around 70 black and white pages (around half in duplex mode) and the ink levels have gone down just a bit. The scanner resolution is fantastic.
I have not used the Fax yet. Set up was easy - just follow the instructions. I connected the printer to my laptop via a USB cable and the process was very easy. If you use a USB cable remember to purchase a male A to male B 2.0 cable as I instructed by Canon support.
Speaking of, great customer support from Canon as I was able to talk to a person right away.
In addition to being packed with features and options it has a small footprint so it can fit anywhere, and is lightweight so you can move it around easily if needed. I love the touch screen - much larger that what the other printers offer that need effort to read it. I only wish it came in white color.
In summary, this printer has exceeded my expectations and I am very happy with my purchase.
Very happy with BestBuy too. The printer shipped quickly, I was provided with a tracking number and timely updates, and it arrived ahead of time!

I needed a printer for a home office and was able to snag this one on sale for an excellent price. The printing both on regular paper and photo paper is amazing! You can’t tell I “developed” my photos at home and the ink is dry instantly so no waiting. Setup was easy with step by step instructions, and this supports printing from my iPhone 7+. I did have to install the Canon app to do so, however it works on an iPhone 6s without.

I started working from home and this was a great addition. Scans, prints, copies and faxes (I don't fax). Easy setup for devices, the scan feature took a while to setup (different process). Can be a bit confusing when setting up the scan. Great quality prints with documents and photos. Easy cartridge load and allows your computer to monitor ink levels. Great value!!

This is the first time I did not buy a HP printer. Took it home hooked it up in less than 10 mins. Wireless was a dream compared to many HP printers I have purchased in the past. I was actually able to connect to our phones (Android), iPads, laptop; (Samsung); and our desktop computer with no problems. It also prints much faster than our comparable HP. I was also able to scan a document from any device I choose.

With this printer it puts its self to sleep after awhile. According to the instructions it will turn itself back on if you print but this has not been the case. When I try to print it comes up on my computer that the printer is offline. So before I print I have to turn the printer on and then wait a few seconds to allow it to connect to wifi before printing. So I can't just print from another floor, I have to make sure the printer is on and connected to wifi. Its a nuisance.

I finally switched from HP and I am glad I did. This printer is fast and the quality is excellent. You can use it wired or wifi. Has touchscreen controls and can print on CD's as well. Photo quality is good but not as good as dedicated photoprinters. Has paper feed and scanner too. Bought another for home when I saw how good this printer is.
