Canon Should Have Stuck With Cameras

Horrible design! Control panel is hinged & has to be opened perpendicular to printer in order to use. Hinge will never last. Paper tray has to be pulled out too. Canon service could not connect with my printer for peripherals. So only bare minimum works. Print quality is nothing to write home about either. And claims that regular ink cartridges were included with unit ARE NOT TRUE. Only "starter" cartridges were included. So after about 30 pages printed it's already showing low ink levels. Another classic example of poor quality consumer products & false advertising typical of BB, and a large corporation expanding into areas they don't belong. Canon cameras are outstanding. Their printers STINK. DO NOT BUY.

I’m an engineer and I needed a printer that prints 11x17 prints along with regular paper size for my home office. I know that this printer is intended for scrapbooking and crafts but it’s the only one that could meet my needs. Easy install and works great!

This all in one printer was everything we needed and more. It was an upgrade from an old Canon we had and I like the fact that is a "transformer" because you need to open the panel and the feeder when you are going to use it but it becomes compact enough that fits our small home computer desk. I am really enjoying the ability to print directly from my phone and the prints are a decent quality.

This printer had such great reviews and it was on sale, I decided to snag one. BIG mistake. From connection issues, to setting up, to a repeatable circle on their "set-up" screen, this has been one of the worst printers I've bought. HP is still #1 on the bottom but this was close. You have to follow their stupid set up book to guide you thru...you can't make the printer discoverable from the home screen so that airprint will work from an iphone or ipad, their whole connection process is jumbled and an absolute mess. I sat for over an hour and didn't get anywhere. I'm techy and have no issues setting stuff up, but this was absolutely ridiculous.

Lasted 16 months of minimal use, then the printing became so light as to be worthless. There's no diagnostic to address the problem. It was inexpensive, but overall not worth the cost.

Overall, I really like this printer. A couple of things my old Canon had that this doesn’t do well are staying connected to Wi-Fi, and having to load photo paper one at a time through the back feeder. I love the scan/copy feeder.

Printer is Offline has become my nightmare message

Bulky printer with terrible ability to stay connected to wifi and my laptop. Continuosly have to reset the wifi connection to the printer and restart computer before it will let me print. I get "printer is offline" message every single time I want to print. Did all the trouble shooting and the issue is NOT my wifi or laptop. I will be returning it to the store ASAP. After 2 weeks of sporadic use, it's not worth my irritation over using it.

Bought one and had to return it 2 days later. No driver. They wanted to charge me $99 to fix it. Returned to store and replaced with a new one. Im computer savvy nut could not get wifi to connect. Finally did and all worked beautifully for two weeks. Now can't connect again. Airplay doesn't work and tried bluetooth. Decided to return again because I like the features, but found out model was discontinued and no help is available for trouble shooting.

Had this for just under two years. It has not been easy to deal with. Uses ALOT of ink. I cannot seem to get it to print clearly even after all the updates, ink changes and cleaning. It may print good for a day and goes back to not clear. I would not buy another one and not recommend to anyone. I will be buying another printer even though this one is not that old. It is just constant work to get it to function properly.

Great for non-standard printing, e.g., unusual sizes, stock, fabrics. However, if your primary purpose is a good all-in-one printer, there many much better.

The frustration is real!!!! The software to print is horrible!!!! Can’t change many of the settings. The flap has to open in order to print! It keeps wanting to feed from the back. And if it’s a photo, IT KEEPS ASKING FOR PHOTO PAPER…. It is super finicky in reading the WiFi. Not user friendly…. I could go on and on … I hate this printer with a deep passion.

    Rear Tray or nothing!

I have the VERY COMMON issue that the printer will not print from the cassette and defaults to rear tray every time. I have tried all of the suggestions online (and there are MANY because it is a very common problem with this model). None have worked. Canon is aware of the problem but does nothing to fix the issue (they have had a few YEARS to handle it). Stay away from this Canon printer unless you are prepared for total frustration. Best Buy purchase experience was great.
