    Excellent Overall Vacation Camera

I have used SLR's for the past 37 years. My wife and I have done a lot of snorkeling, and I didn't want to spend $1500 for an underwater case for my Canon EOS. This is a great option for an all around vacation camera. Small, light compact and versatile. Equally at home on land, water, sand or snow. As with any underwater camera, somewhat difficult to precisely frame/focus a shot, but automatic features do an excellent job. Very simple aim and shoot camera. Underwater mode filters out much of the blue tint giving more realistic colors. I am happier with the videos than with the still shots, but I think this will get better as I get more familiar with the camera. There are some cautions. First, be aware that this camera does not come with a memory card, and is unusable without one. Buy the largest SDHC you can get, and then get a second one for backup. HD video will suck up memory. Second, although the camera comes with a rechargeable battery, get a second one. Always have the spare, fully charged battery, as a back up. The battery and memory card are easily changed out, but it is highly advisable to rinse the camera with fresh water, and dry it thoroughly before opening the battery/card compartment.

I already love this camera, and it withstands my clumsy hands. I'm excited to test it out at the beach, and so far it takes great pictures!

    Great Little Underwater Camera

I bought this for a recent trip to the Galapagos Islands. I needed something small and not too expensive for snorkeling. I am so pleased I had it as I saw so much underwater life - sharks, rays, turtles... The photos weren't the best but that was more the fault of the photographer than the camera. It's hard to take photos when you are bobbing around in the water. But I got some great shots and videos and found it easy to use underwater. Just be sure your finger doesn't obscure the lens. I'm taking it to Fiji next.

Camera is great, but you lose some features when you opt for a waterproof and drop proof camera. Focusing takes a bit and there's no panoramic. We took this camera to Germany and it did a lovely job. It was great not worrying about it in the rain. The battery life isn't great, so we brought the charger with us.

This camera does everything well. I really like the separate buttons for stills and video. No menus to navigate anymore when you want to switch to video. It being waterproof and impact resistant is huge too since my last camera died from a water bottle leaking on it. The pictures and videos look really great when compared to other cameras in this price range. I would definitely recommend.

I used this camera for snorkeling in Guam and regular shots on the beach, it is amazing how it picks up every detail of what I am trying to shoot, the colors are also amazing. handling is great (for right handers) and for selfies just turn it upside down, it switches quickly to video mode as there is TWO buttons for it next to each other, (if some one is taking a picture of you with it make sure you tell them which button to push ! they tend to go for the red button! ) I ended up buying an extra battery in Tokyo because after 8 hours of constant shooting it will of course die.... so I recommend you buy extras! there is nothing worse than running out of batt. Important....always carry a soft cloth to clean the lens as it is very accurate and sensitive dust particles will show up on your pics....if playing on water just blow hard on the lens to get the water off (nice trick I learned ) Night shots at the city come out extremely sharp and it has a few settings to play with the formats. and the shutter is fast even in low light unlike the sony cameras. I think I got most of it here.... enjoy the camera, it rocks .

    A "must have" for a beach/boating vacation

We took this camera on our bareboat sailing vacation in the British Virgin Islands. Our group relied on us for all the pictures as this was the one camera that we could use on the beach, in the dinghy boat and underwater. Very easy to operate, great results and no worries with the weather/outdoor elements of rain, sand and salt water.

I originally bought this camera for the GPS geo tagging capability to compete in a drone search and rescue competition. It worked great for that purpose but a few weeks later I took it to Kaua'i for a honeymoon trip. This is where it really shined with its underwater features as well as the GPS geo tagging. The only complaint I have is the focusing is sometimes flaky and there were a few shots of wildlife that I missed because the focusing didn't function properly. Now, admittedly this may have been due to external factors like water on the lens or lighting conditions but I can't be sure. I am looking forward to loading a Canon Hacker's Development Kit (CHDK) version for this camera to enhance certain features including remote triggering, focusing and time lapse.

Got my Canon PowerShot D-30 as a complement to my Canon EOS 70D for my vacation to the Caribbean. The PowerShot D-30 serves well for both photography and recording when on the beach or hiking. Video recording is easy through a one touch button. The camera takes great shots in good light, but could work better in low lighting. As for many other modern cameras, you should get a spare battery as there is no viewfinder except from the energy-consuming digital screen. I have used waterproofed cameras from Pentax and Samsung in the past and this is by far the best.

So far so good. Its a bit bigger and more cumbersome than the camera it replaces but being durable and waterproof is a nice feature. It takes photos fast and they look great. A little pricey but so far it is worth it.

I wanted to take some underwater pictures on a trip to the Virgin Islands so I purchased the Canon D30. It worked great underwater and was able to get some great photos of the reef and it focused quickly on the fish and wildlife. Highly recommend!

My husband and I purchased the Nikon version of this camera. Took it to Jamaica and our first day the camera stopped working. Extremely upset it stopped working after an hour in the ocean. Took it to Geek Squad and they were unable to repair it. We ended up getting the Canon and it's so much better! Haven't had any issues sine we purchase it.

    NOT WATERPROOF

This camera is not waterproof. After being underwater 3 times, it filled with water and is now dead. I got about 30 pictures before it died. For $300, it is a very expensive disposable camera.

I wanted a camera for my 9-year old granddaughter who is interested in taking pictures and wanted a "real camera". This one takes great pictures, is simple to operate, water resistant, and DURABLE--a great choice for a responsible young person who wants to learn about photography. I decided on this camera at the recommendation of a friend who is a professional photographer. She said her family has several cameras, but this kind is what they carry on their trips. It offers great photo results and durability that allows them to let their daughter use it!

I owned the D10 and was in Best Buy one day and this newer version was on sale. Canon had made some improvements so I upgraded. I have only used it a few times but am happy with some of the changes. I like not having to toggle between video and stills, having the buttons at your finger tips. The one thing I wish I had more control over was the flash. Sometimes the camera doesn't think I need the flash when I do. So far, so good. I am happy with the newer version. Nothing beats having a smaller camera that can take the elements to through in a pocket some days!
