Very basic point & shoot w/ matching performance

We bought this camera for my 10 year old son to take with him to a sleep away camp. We have owned Cannon Elph products in the past and found them to be excellent cameras. This camera has a body that feels more flimsy and less sturdy than previous cameras. Additionally, the wait time on taking a photo (especially compared to my iPhone) seems excessive. I am not sure why this is. But the outcome is that rather than taking 2, 3, 5 photos in rapid succession, each photo takes 2-3 seconds to snap. My guess is that the processor and internal components are simply very low cost compared to the build of an iPhone and that they just don't have comparable performance. I would be curious to compare to more expensive point and shoot cameras because there are some features (such as zoom) that could potentially be nice to have versus a phone camera. One other thing that concerns me about this is that the battery life seems somewhat limited. It wouldn't be bad if I could charge it via a USB connection battery, but the only way to charge it is via A/C adapter. This means either buying an extra battery to carry or waiting until I find an outlet. Perhaps my expectations are too high for a camera with a $100 price point.

Pictures this camera takes are OK, I guess. You can get some good shots, but the image quality is nothing to write home about. I'm usually participating in the group activities I'm photographing, so the size and functionality of this camera works well for what I'm doing. However, some images seem undersaturated to me, and things can go south if lighting conditions are less than ideal. Using a photo editing program can help with the shortcomings. I bought this camera to replace an ELPH 300HS that was maybe 5 years old that quit working. Not that much has changed (the old one was 12.1 megapixels with a 5x zoom). And I thought the old one took better pictures and video. By the way, a friend has an iPhone that takes better pictures than this camera.

Cheap point-and-shoot gets the job done

I bought this as a present for my girlfriend and she likes how it's cheap so she can just stuff it in her bag and not worry about scratching it. The pictures it takes are definitely much better than cell phone quality. I was hoping we could shoot some decent videos with it, but the video feature is absolutely terrible! It loses focus for no reason, and has no way to trigger the autofocus during filming! You have to stop recording, refocus in still camera mode, and then start recording again. It's sad that my phone takes much much better videos than this does.

Based on the positive reviews I'm expecting good auto focus and video out the gate but my Nexus 5x has better auto focus and sometimes takes better picture due to this. As far as video it's good quality but in mov (QuickTime format) this is format from back in 90' 2000 era's, mp4 is pretty much the standard format, so I have to convert all of recorded videos which is an inconvenience. I wish I researched this product a bit more because definitely wanted a camera that took better shoots than my current phone and some things that I assumed would be standard like having Wifi, so pictures automatically go to your phone are not on this model :( Still a good basic camera but if you have phone with a good camera then I would avoid this one.

I bought this camera for a gift. The pictures are clear and you are able to zero in really well. There is one draw back, you have to buy a USB plug to download any pictures. I did purchase this on line for a $6.00 fee. Also the camera comes with a battery charger that you have to plug in the wall. This means you have to remove the battery to charge it and put it in the wall charger every time you want to charge the camera. I did call the manufacture and ask if you could charge it off your computer and they said "no this model is only made to use the wall charger that comes with it".

Flash is not sufficient to light up subjects 3 feet away. Photos are a little blurry and very dark, even in daylight. I was a professional photographer in my younger years and I’ve seen better photos for less. We bought for our 8 year old granddaughter, it’s her first camera, so it will do. Just not great quality. I’m used to the canon rebel which is much better but the cost is five times the amount of this camera.

I love how easy it is to use. I love it's small size and features. What I don't like is that some of my pictures aren't always in focus. Most of them are, but 1 out of 10 or so I get an out of focus pic. I'm not sure if there Is something I could be doing better, but I have it set to auto focus and I get a few fore blurries then I'd care to.

I purchased this camera for students to use for a film project . It wasn’t a bad camera for students to shoot short film clips but Films that ran over two minutes it wasn’t such a great product to do this with. For pictures for one night on the town it’s well worth it but don’t shoot your brothers wedding with it

Needed a small point and shoot camera for some family pictures. This was the least expensive camera that BB had. Didn't want to spend this much for a point and shoot but there was no choice at the time. Overall the camera did what it was supposed to do. It takes good pictures and is simple to use. That is what it is made for. Best Buy needs to run this on sale all the time for 25% off (it's not worth $119)

takes good photos fairly easy to use. Do not like the fact that it does not have a paper manual. I tried to download one with no luck doing so. I like the auto focus and it takes much clearer close up photos than my old camera. Has .lots of settings that I don't know how to use or what they are for

This camera is small and simple to use. However, on a daily basis the battery fully charged was not sufficient to take the number of photos I wanted to take. Battery needs to have better capacity. It was very frustrating to have to switch to the phone to complete the photos for the day.

I bought this camera for my grandma however the buttons are so small and it’s very small in her hand as well so she had a very hard time using it. I would not recommend this for people that have bad vision or shaky hands; Great for kiddos though

Great images can be taken at daytime or in bright ambient. But disappoints in poorly illuminated surroundings and at night. Blurriness is the most common and annoying problem. Dependable battery life. Very convenient for travel because of its compact design. Poor image stabilization.

I got this camera as a Christmas gift for my grand daughter because I have one like it and it seems easy to point and shoot. I am hoping my grand daughter can teach me more about operating it.

Newer model. Pictures similar to the last version. Wish they looked better on the digital screen. Hard to tell if they will come out good when printed.

Cons: camera is really small for man hands. You must have a memory card to get pictures so purchase one or no pictures. Pros: better focus than my phone. Will show date and time of pictures if you want. Has rechargeable batteries

Bought this because my phone camera was broken and my kids' birthday was coming up. Was going to keep it, but looking at the picture quality it wasn't better than any phone camera I've had.

Display is too dark to view in bright sunlight. Hard to review photos that you just captured. Needs a photo density that is up one step like 150Kb. Also it isn't always obvious when you have taken a photo.

Bought this for my Mother who isn't very tech savvy. It does all the basics, (and has a pretty impressive zoom) Not for you if you're a diehard photographer but you can definitely get some cool shots!
