This camera was actually my third choice! The Sony a5100 was first cause you have the option to change the lense and it's cheaper, the quality of the Canon g5x is better! My second choice the Canon g7x was also sold out like the Sony. Needless to say I'm happy I ended up with the Canon g5x.

Bought this camera for a trip with the family. The camera provided all the features that I wanted in travel camera - lots of control of the exposure plus being able to save both a jpg and raw file for each image.
As others who have reviewed the camera, have pointed out, the camera is slow. The time between taking an image and when the camera is ready to take the next image is frustrating - literally you miss some action.

I have had this camera a couple weeks now. I normally use my Canon 60D but I wanted something more compact that offered some of the same features. The manual mode is simple and effective. I love the different filters. It lacks umph in low light settings but I knew that going in so it wasn’t a shocker. It’s great to have on the go. I wish the shutter speed was a little faster. I’ll use my dslr for basketball games.

Macro capability was surprisingly terrible. I was unable to get reliable close up shots. The camera was nearly unusable in the sunlight despite the handy viewfinder. I’ve have great success with a 12 year old Canon, but it simply can’t do macro close ups so I figured this camera would be a major upgrade. It turned out to be a $700 failure for me. I was very disappointed in the stability and anti-shake features since the camera was hypersensitive to every breath I took and every hand movement I made. I consulted with Geek Squad to make I was simply not following directions correctly, but even the sure handed 28 year old Geek Squad supervisor encountered similar problems. On the other hand, kudos to Best Buy for great customer service.

I picked this camera mainly because it had a viewfinder, but the diopter doesn’t operate very well; at least I can’t tell any difference in adjustment. The camera is very versatile and I am still learning all that it can do. I do wish it had a stronger zoom.

I purchased this for myself so I could take low light videos. It works pretty good for this. Sometimes I seem to have issues with focusing with pictures, but I am sure it is just user error. lol

A great little camera with a ton of features.. you'll need the manual with you for a couple days just so you know where to look for functions.

I enjoy this point and shoot camera. I really like the articulating screen. I can take it places where a DSLR is not permitted.

It's a bit bigger than expected but still fits in a Lowepro case for your waist.
