This is a great camera that fits in any pocket. It has advanced features like shutter and aperture priority. The 1" sensor is a plus for quality. I just wish the range was a bit longer for when your feet can't get you there. Better than your phone and lighter than your DSLR. Thumbs up!

Great camera if you are not interested in shooting RAW or getting dirty with your photos. JPEG's come out looking crisp and clear. Very small form factor for a one inch sensor. If you have bigger hands you may have trouble handling the camera as all shots must be framed using the touchscreen LCD (which can be inadvertently touched and focus readjusted). Touch screen focus is extremely handy as it is able to follow your subject, something pricier DSLRs fail at. Overall handling is akin to a smart phone making this a great companion when paired with a phone for convenient shooting and posting on the go.

I bought it bc my phone is always dead by the time I want to take photos. The pictures are crisp and clear. Easy to use even without ready the directions. Can basically fumble your way through pretty easily. Love the video mode where it makes a short slides how of all the photos u took that day. Makes Facebook posts so much easier for events like Christmas. Takes a 3 second video before showing the photo itself. Love that feature!

a real camera indeed, smartphone is not enough

When I first got my new Nexus 6P smartphone, I wavered between getting a real camera to take real pictures with, thinking that today's smartphone cameras are enough. However, once I got the Canon G9X, I realized that a real camera is still necessary. The quality of pictures and videos taken with the G9X far exceed anything taken with the Nexus 6P, and I realized that smartphone camera photos only seem better when viewed on the phone screen. Once transferred to a larger computer screen, the quality differences are apparent. I have no buyer's remorse and am so glad I didn't miss out getting this real camera.

Just got a replacement for my Canon G9X, a Canon G9X MarkII. I haven't had a chance to take it out for an outing yet, but already the interconnection with CameraConnect works better and it seems more responsive. I'm looking forward to seeing what this sucker can do! I loved the previous camera because it's compact, quick and easy to use with a ton of features and shooting modes. This seems like a more refined version of that camera.

Bought this camera before my trip to Poland. I have a SLR but wanted a camera that was easier to carry but still took great pictures. The G9 x was exactly that. Yes, not as versitile as an SLR but still was perfect for easy carrying and takes great pictures. I was especially happy with how well it did in low light night shots.

Perfect companion for my dslr camera. Being an annual pass holder at Disneyland I needed something light and takes comparable pictures to my dslr without having to lug around lenses and the heavy camera. Now I won't miss any shots of my daughter enjoying herself.

The photos are really sharp. Mostly easy to use. It takes just a bit to figure out how to blue-tooth enable the camera to your phone or computer. A few minutes of time. Instructions are easy to follow. Really a nice camera!

Don't even listen to anyone who says you no longer need a real camera, and that smart phone cameras even come close. They're too blind to see the difference in photo quality difference. That being said, this camera is a great point and shoot to have allows adjustments and user control over photo settings. If you'd rather leave everything on automatic this works great too. I am glad I didn't waste my photo opportunities just relying on a smartphone camera (i.e. Nexus 6P or iPhone), as this camera takes superior quality photos.

This is a great camera for the size. It has a fairly large sensor, but lacks in the zoom area. Touch screen capabilities are good, fast shutter speed and does well In low light conditions.
