I have a Nikon DSLR. Purchased the Canon just for ease of carrying. I hand held the camera while taking photos of a full moon. I used the zoom and got perfect sharp photos.

This is a great camera for any level of photography. It has an excellent zoom range, easy to use, and a superb image quality.

Great camera for beginner, a great tool to learn from. My wife bought this camera without asking me, asked my opinion after purchase. I consider my level to be pro in photography. I was pretty happy with what this camera can do, I have added 2 pictures I took, unedited jpeg file. The one with colored leaf and one green leaf with blurred background (Bouquet shot). It can take good day light pictures with good sharpness and color saturation at low ISO. The only thing I din't like was: There is no viewfinder, we need to use the LCD screen to view and take pictures, this drains the battery soon, the other gripe I have is, no raw file, it just takes jpeg, which leaves us with narrow dynamic range for editing (post production). Beside that, WiFi is a bonus. we got camera at a discounted price for black Friday, so It was a good deal, we are happy with the purchase. Camera is good for a beginners and a great tool to learn from, I spend some good dollars to learn photography with old film cameras where you develop the role to find out how you did, expensive trial and error method.

Nice camera, wish it had a view finder, a little difficult to see screen in sun light. Still learning all it can do.

This was the first camera I've purchased in years. I have to say, it's simple and straightforward to use and understand. It has just a bit more ability than I have know-how, but that makes me feel like I got the right amount of bang for my buck. It takes wonderful pictures in any light. It has a 50x zoom which is wonderful. I'm taking pictures I never would have imagined I could have with a point and shoot. Then, when you factor in its' 200x optical zoom, you're really getting something special. Granted, the clarity at that level is not great, and you need very steady hands or a secure surface, but the fact that you have that tool at your disposal is shocking. An example; my wife and I recently drove to the top of Mt Washington in NH (elevation 6,288 ft.). From the summit I was able to zoom in and photograph the lodge at the base. The additional pictures we were able to take with 100 miles of visibility were also great. Similarly, camping in the Adirondacks; I was able to take basic shots of camp, stunning shots of smoke on the water in the early morning, and beautiful, vibrant shots of sunrises and sunsets over the lake. I'm not a photographer, but this camera sure makes me feel like one.

Your Sterling store was the only one with this in stock. Excellent experience with your staff....the extra goodies included made it competitive with Amazon...the WiFi and 50x telescopic are fantastic...it's light, and it's feature rich.

We recently took a trip to Europe, so we purchased this camera beforehand. Easily chargeable and the battery lasted all day. We took loads of pictures and they all came out great! I downloaded the app required to view the pictures over wifi after connecting with my iPad, and it was fairly easy despite the bad reviews the app received. I would recommend this camera to people wanting a simple camera that takes quality pictures.

I'm not an expert on photography, but love to keep important moments in my live. This as an affordable item for this purpose, It takes great pictures, and with great quality. Battery last good enough, good zoom and kept good quality on the pictures taken zoomed in. Cons, I expected to be more automated than manual, the flash has to be manually raised to work, sometimes I forgot so I missed that momentum or not missed, but kept it dark. Not too friendly to configure so I'm still figuring out how to, sometimes it takes high resolution pictures and some others in standard, as I said, I'm a simple mortal and it's not that friendly if you aren't an expert or knowledgeable enough to set it up properly.

The canon power shot sx530 is a neat little “point and shoot” camera. Great focal length (see chameleon and fork pictures) good zoom that stays clear and doesn’t get grainy. This was a gift for some one who thought they might like to get into photography but doesn’t understand terms like iso. I think this will be a good camera for a beginner as it allows you to change picture resolution, light and focus while looking, but has a feature where it tells you the photos info so you can understand. Usually a Nikon fan but same price range you can’t get wifi enabled- this has WiFi - and it works well! You need to dig a bit to find the camera functions and not everything is as intuitive as I’d like, but I would say overall very good. Compact size makes a big difference for this camera. It’s very light and handles well. Night mode is fairly good- husky photo was low light. You need to figure out the settings with in the mode- but it’s doable. I took away one star because with everything it DOES do, you should be able to do more outside of the “auto” mode. Will update review once present is assessed by giftee-
