Love the zoom
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera based on recommendations I read online. I was going to Costa Rica and wanted to be able to really zoom in on the wildlife. I was able to do that! It takes a quality picture thanks to the digital zoom. One thing to note is that it can be hard to hold the camera steady when you are zoomed way out. It can sometimes be a bit difficult to get the focus on the subject from far away. All of this can be resolved with a bit of practice using the camera.

Excellent Camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a super zoom camera for bird and wildlife photography. I looked at panasonic, Nikon, Fuji, and i chose the Canon SX60 because it had the best features for the money. The photo quality and image stabilization are excellent. Camera is small and lightweight. Battery life is excellent. I shot 482 photos and 8 minutes of video on a fully charged battery. I shoot in the PROGRAM mode because i like to set my own parameters. I like vivid colors so i set the "My Colors" feature to VIVID, +1 Contrast, +1 Saturation and +2 Sharpness and my JPEG photos look great. I do not shoot RAW. The 1080P videos look great. LCD screen is bright and sharp. The viewfinder is OK, i mainly use the LCD. Noise is low up to ISO800. See my photo samples.

Big disappointment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Waited for this camera to come out for awhile because I liked the sx50 hs but hated the slow processor and small viewing screen. Wi fi works but extremely hard to set up. No apps for my windows 8.1 phone even thought it has NFC. Takes clear pictures in bright outdoor light no problem. Cannot focus in indoor lighting. Especially low light. Pixels every where past ISO 800. It needs a flash for every shot indoors unless it is bright as day. Shot night scene handheld it takes 4-5 shoots and combines for one picture nice trick put it is still grainy even at no zoom. I am impressed with bootup speed and rapid shot in bright light that works great. So 550.00 dollar 65 zoom outdoor daytime camera. Cannon needs to fix issues. Do like and appreciate the 21mm wide angle start of zoom range always never wide enough shot. Need to develop point and shoot super zoom with aps-c sensor and touch screen for this price. Part of problem with wi fi is cannon did not want to include a 16.00 solar USB cable so computer can recognize proper software for camera and you cannot do any firmware updates on camera without it. Way to go cannon. $300.00-$ 550.00 camera with no USB included. By the way why are we still using usb 2.0 when usb 3.1 with c onnector is coming out at least use usb 3.0 a connector.

Great camera so far
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have only had the camera for a few weeks so I have not done extensive testing. We have taken pictures in daylight and they are quite good - sharp and bright. I have also taken long distance pictures. Even at 65x the pictures are bright, clear, and sharp if I hold the camera steady. Image stabilization works well if the camera is moving a little bit. If the camera is moving too much I get a fuzzy picture as I would with any camera at a long zoom like 65x. At 65x I need a monopod or something solid to lean against. I was pleased with 65x zoom pictures taken using a monopod. I have also set up and used the WiFi feature. Transferring pictures to my phone via wifi works very well. As expected, transferring pictures to a computer is much faster by putting the SD card into a card reader on the computer. I have not yet tried taking pictures indoors in low light. I don't expect the low light pictures to be as good because of the camera's high resolution and relatively small sensor necessitated by the long zoom and relatively small camera. The camera is larger and heavier than a standard point&shoot camera but this is to be expected for a bridge camera with such a long zoom. Overall at this time I am pleased with the camera and would recommend it to a friend.

Somewhat Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I got this camera in April 2015, I was so excited as this would be the best camera I have ever owned. I have owned several previous Canon digital cameras and after using the camera since I got it I can honestly say that I'm somewhat disappointed. The camera performs well in most daylight outdoor applications and the 65X zoom in incredible. That's where this camera shines......until you get into low light situations, that when this camera is less than I expected. When in low light this camera searches and has great difficulty getting focused properly and when altering the ISO the pictures have a significant amount of noise. In these situations I set the camera to Manual focus and have better results. Overall I like the feel on the camera and it's terrific grip especilly for me since I have very large hands. The build quality is great and was as good as I had expected from Canon. I hope potential buyers take what I posted to heart and choose consider choosing another Canon model to meet your needs.

Perfect for my needs.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera for the zoom feature. I wanted a camera to get close up picture of the birds that come to my feeders. It does an awesome job that will only get better as I become more familiar with my camera. This camera offers a lot of features! The wifi function is great for sending pictures to your smartphone, computer, etc.

Great Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Switched from Nikon to Canon and am much happier. Auto focus is faster and the Wifi feature works great - unlike the Nikon that didn't work at all. It's also smaller, lighter and has a longer zoom than the Nikon 60x. Disadvantage - must be plugged in to outlet to charge - would love to be able to charge via USB cable.

Great camera to take photos, macro- telephoto
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want a digital point-and-shoot camera that is excellent for macro to telephoto shots, plus lots of family shots in between. I really enjoyed a Canon PowerShot S5is, but desired a bit more megapixels and reach in the telephoto. The Canon PowerShotSX60 HS 16.1MP seems to satisfy my needs (it seems like my CanonS5is on steroids). I can go from exquisite macro shots, to fast moving animals or children, to more distant birds, using one lightweight camera and no need to change a lens. I do not mind carrying the camera for long periods. I know the video is excellent, however I do not anticipate using that feature very much as I take mostly still shots.

Mine's bigger: 65X
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the zoom alone, this gets 5 stars. Essentially, this is a point and shoot with a gignormous zoom lens. I have seen other criticism of the camera's low-light video performance, but I have not found the quality to be lacking. The SX-60 is just what I was looking for to replace my Nikon 510 with what, at the time of purchase, was the zoom winner at 42X. Civilization has advanced on many fronts since then, so built-in WiFi is standard on the Canon. I also like the external mic input, something lacking on the Nikon. I've had DSLR cameras, and before that, a Leica 35mm and before that, a 4X5 Speed Graphic. Yeah, just like Weegee. Only it was my dad's, who was a press and police photographer from the 1940s through the 1970s. Having pupated in the basement darkroom under the influence of Dektol and DK-76, I greatly appreciate the finesse of a talented hand in the shooting and printing process. That's not for me, nor is the associated necessity of lugging around lenses, tripods, reflectors and various accoutrements in Pelican cases just to take a picture of a waitress pouring tequila down Lisa's friend Mike's throat at Carlos & Charlie's in Cancun, which is fine, I'm OK with that. He's the college football star and it's cool that we can hang with him. I get that a xylophone player in the marching band is not on the A-list, but fame is fleeting, is all I'm saying.

Fabulous Camera, easy to use.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally started with a Nikon P530 and returned it the next day and purchased the Canon SX 60. What a difference. The colors are more vibrant and the picture is sharper. I upgraded from a Canon SX260 HS, which I loved but I killed it. I cannot live without a camera and needed a replacement. I am not ready for a DSLR yet but I wanted something that would hold me over till then. Well I love this camera. It is easy to use. I cannot wait to explore it some more. I have had it for 3 days now.

Forget DSLRs, this is the one for you!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My hobby with photography and cameras extends back almost 40 years. My first SLR was a Yashica when I was 10 years old; I don't know many people who can remember this camera brand. Although my interest in photography eventually waned during early adulthood, I was an early adopter of digital photography, albeit with point and shoot cameras only. Now that I'm in my 40's I decided it was time for something better. I researched DSLR and long zoom or bridge cameras for many months, going back and forth between the two designs from week to week. I ultimately decided upon the convenience of an integrated long zoom lens over having to carry the 2 lenses that come in the typical new camera package. I know I can accomplish the same with an 18-300 zoom lens with a DSLR, but that's an extra $700-1,000, destroying my budget. The SX60 has a smaller sensor, but it's not the sensor that makes for great pictures, but the photographer's ability to compose a great shot. Sure if I was a pro or serious enthusiast, I would opt for the DSLR, but as a minor hobbyist, the SX60 still provides very high quality photos. With it's built-in WiFi, sharing photos is much easier and can be done soon after taking the pictures. The simplicity and convenience of having an integrated zoom lens makes the camera easy to operate by all members of my family. Canon has done a great job in offering a quality camera, with so many features in a sub-$500 price, it's hard to justify going to a DSLR.

Awesome zoom
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this camera and an extra battery for wildlife photos for a trip to Yellowstone national park. I am super pleased with this camera since it was so easy to operate and took fantastic photos. Think the negatives have been posted - low light conditions aren't great for this camera. And super zoom may necessitate a tripod for most.

Camera is easy to use - best zoom range
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera has many features, but can be used in a simple point and shoot (auto) mode that takes great pictures. It has built in motorized zoom with 60X range (you don't have to change lenses, less to carry). A friend had recommended this camera, but I took a long time with my Best Buy associate and we came to the same conclusion. If you want great vacation pictures without carrying a professional setup, and without having to learn a lot - this is it. Battery life is excellent.

LOVE THIS POINT-N-SHOOT
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this camera for over a year now and I still love it. I've had several other brands and this is the best quality by far. Lots of adjustments and options. Very good auto focus, but just turn off the digital focus entirely. I don't know why manufacturers even include it any more as it's so unsatisfactory. Love the video quality and doing a still in the midst of a video has resulted in some wonderful, high quality surprises. Be sure to purchase two extra batteries so you can keep one charging and still have a spare in your bag. And buy lots of extra SD cards. LOVE the easy on camera review and delete. HATE the website software, though. Really slow and cumbersome although there are some really nice edit options hidden amongst all the dross.

Just got the camera.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm am NOT a photographer but want to learn. I did a LOT of research and developed a list of requirements after that research. I then did more research. Suffice it to say, I picked the Canon SX60 but it was a difficult choice as there is a lot of competition for a non-DSLR, super-zoom camera. The first thing I did was to photograph my BMW 328i GT down in the parking lot from my office window at default opening and full zoom. WOW!! Even through a double pane window and not stabilized (just holding it my hands) I was able to get a pretty crisp shot of the BMW logo on the hood. I'll try to post the pics later. I took a bit more time than I anticipated connecting my Samsung Note 3 to it but once I downloaded the new software (Canon Camera Connect NOT Canon Camera Window) it connected right up. I played with the remote control and I can see a need for it possibly for staging a dynamic subject (like animals or people) but not so much for a static subject (like a car). I’ll try to provide periodic updates as I learn and gain some experience.

Great Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this camera. I don't have much experience with cameras, have owned 1 cannon sure shot but didn't have much luck with photos. Got lots of blurry pics. But the Cannon Powershot sx60 is very user friendly and takes beautiful photos. I've taken over 2000 photos so far and have some very good quality shots so far. The zoom is quite powerful. I've taken to several baseball games and am able to zoom across the field to get great pics of the players. Both of my sons play baseball so I've been able to get some great action shots of them as well. The battery life is very long and I love the wifi feature to easily transfer photos to my computer. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this camera.

Couldn't be more pleased with this camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We were headed to Yellowstone and I wanted more zoom, while keeping to an easy point and shoot. I decided to upgrade from my Canon Powershot SX40 (35x zoom) to this Powershot SX60 HS with 65x zoom. I was able to get pictures of far away wildlife, that I would have never been able to take with the 35x. Bald eagle in a tree....grizzly bear out in a meadow...just fantastic zoom ability...I also used the "vivid" setting for some of the best pictures I have ever taken!

Good point and shoot camera.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good camera, have it for two weeks now, an so far: Some good things are: -Very long zoom, able to see craters in the moon (see picture). -Many manual controls. -Ability to shoot from phone, or send images to wifi enable devices (phone or tablet). -Good quality pictures. -Nice hand grip. -Mic input Some not so good things are: -No ISO button, and can't assign it to the programmable button, have to dive into the menu options. -Poor low light video performance, too much noise at high ISO settings. -If your shooting video and press the shutter button to take a still, the video will stop recording, and you have to press the shutter again to take the photo. If you own a SX50, right now I think there's no need to upgrade, even the SX40 had a ISO dedicated button and a better lens aperture (2.7 vs. 3.4), but then again this is a longer lens. If you're looking for a little more zoom, wifi features (remote shooting and photo transfer), and the new DIGIC 6 processor, and/or want the latest, then go ahead this is the camera for you. This is just the humble opinion of a casual shooter. I'll try to post some updates when I get to use it more.
