    Disappointed

I bought this camera as an upgrade to my Canon SX 40 35X Zoom. I thought it would give me new bells and whisles and it does. But I mainly got it for the 65X Zoom range, I can do without the other upgrades. I'm sad to report that this camera didn't perform as well as my older camera. The pictures, especially at it's furthest zoom range, were not as sharp, kinda soft in comparison. I like good color saturation in my pics and this camera seems to favor neutral colors. That's not a negative for those who like that. I'm sure one can use the manual settings and compensate for these negatives, but I want to use it in auto settings only. I got this camera to compliment my Canon T3i DSLR and I do use the manual settings with it, when doing serious photographt. But I wanted this camera for those times when I'm just out somewhere, maybe travalling, and just want to take good pictures. I don't want a point and shoot that I have to fool with manual settings. The buttons are arraigned different from from my older model and I like the other postions better. The menu was a snap to understand, only a small learning curve from my older model. That's one thing about Canon I like, if you have any canon model the menu's are similar to navigate. It is a nice camera and those who are new to point and shoot super zooms, or it's their 1st camera....they probably will be happy with this camera. The problem here I think, is that zoom technology cannot expand zoom range this much, without also upgrading the lens and sensors. If manufactuers continue to expand the zoom range on these point and shoot cameras, they are going to have to upgrade the lens and sensors also. I suppose Canon was trying to keep the price down with this camera to be competitive with other manufactuer's cameras. I am a loyal Canon Customer and will remain so. I'm sure they will be back on top of their game on the next upgrade or next model. I'm going to return it for the Canon SX 50, 50X Zoom that I like better, at a cheaper price.

I thought this to upgrade from the sx50 and it was incredibly dark. I was not happy, as a professional photographer I know my settings and went back and forth and everything was crap. It went back

Can't figure of some of the features that come with the camera. The booklet is somewhat useless... Had to take a break from it, gave me a headache! Still learning. Do your researcher before you purchase a camera.

I researched quite a few cameras before purchasing the Canon Powershot SX60. I had considered a DSLR but decided against it for now because I just wanted a great camera that was easy to use and fairly portable. I've had it just a little over a week and have not done much with any manual features yet. I've mostly shot on auto and sport modes. The features I was looking for were: ability to add an external mic, great optical zoom, macro feature, wifi, choice of shooting RAW or Jpg and a flexible display. This has it all. It has amazing optical zoom. With a tripod and on "auto" I was able to take pictures of the moon so detailed you could see the craters. And it's macro ability is great as well. The sports setting lets me take clear and continuous shots of moving wildlife. It also takes advantage of wifi so you can use your smart phone as a remote or send the photos to your phone for quick sharing via the app.. I had read some people were not happy that the flash did not automatically pop up but I actually like that it does not. Best Buy was offering the same price as the reputable online sites. I liked Best Buy's protection package so I purchased at my local store. I'm really happy with this purchase.

It's affordable and takes great photos/videos! I have 2 kids ages 1 and 3 so they are constantly on the move and I rarely take a blurry photo! The zoom is incredible. I'm excited to test that out on our next vacation. It has a rechargeable battery which is a huge plus! No need to buy a fortune on AA batteries. You really get a lot more than what you pay for. I'm extremely satisfied.

    Incredible Zoom

These point & shoot cameras with this level of optical zoom are incredible. I have been using a less expensive brand and lower zoom 46x for a year or more Fujii and use it a lot. I wanted to upgrade to a Canon when they came out with a higher zoom. I really like this camera it is amazing how often the range is a great value. I am still learning about all the features but my shots are improving and the additional zoom as opposed to my older one is worth the extra cost. It is not quite as easy to use as other one but quality of shots will be better as I learn.

Purchased for my wife who absolutely loves it. She is getting into wildlife photography and needed something with a good zoom without breaking the bank. This camera exceeded my expectations and recommend to anyone who wants the capabilities of a DSLR without the weight and $$$.

Great camera, bag supplied is way too small

I have not used much yet. I have a SX10 which I like very much. The SX60 has 65X, and 16.1 mg, and does a lot more than the SX10. So I will greatly enjoy using. One problem, the camera bag that came as part of the package deal is way too small. You can barely squeeze the SX60 inside, and the bag deforms, and no room for batteries or anything else. Then it is very hard to pull out.

If you're reading other reviews and expect to make money for life or time this is not your camera..... But this a superb non-professional point and shoot.

The camera will not fit in the bag in this bundle.

It is a good camera, but the store would not upgrade the bundle to a bag that would fit the camera. They would not discount the camera because of the useless bag in the bundle. It was frustrating.

My of got a bad unit

I bought the SX60 after reading all the good reviews, but I my of got a defective unit. When it worked it would take really great pics. The biggest issue was the auto/manual focus. It would only work about 50% of the time and would search for ever to focus, even worse in sports mode it would not work at all. The manual focus would not change the image at all. I looked through the real manual like 3 times and it just would not get better This is really a point and shoot and it should not be that mush of a struggle to take decent pics 90% of the time. Doing a google search I did find another person that was having the same problem and canon told the to return it. After 1 week I ended up taking it back and exchanging it for the Nikon p610 which also had good reviews from buyers but some online photo web sites hit it kid of hard can't wait forever for the p900. A few other things the system setting even with the help info was somewhat not user friendly compared to the p610 See my review of the nikon p610

    Focusing

In the beginning it seemed good

We purchased this camera over a year ago. We love to take wildlife pics. We had owned the sx30 the sx40. When the sx60 came out, based on our experience with the other two cameras, we want with the sx60. For awhile, we was very satisfied. Then we began to experience focusing problems. Focusing in at 15 feet, it's almost impossible to do. In the sports setting you can just about forget a good pic. By the time you zoom in an out 3-4 times your subject is long gone. We sent the camera in twice and it was sent back telling us nothing was wrong with it. Unfortunately for us it does not work properly. I would highly suggest looking at a different camera. Maybe we just got a lemon.

    Problem with Display

I bought this for the Display and the laser which you see in dim lighting. Unfortunately I encountered a problem when changing from shooting to viewing and then trying to return to using the external display to shoot my pictures. I had to go to settings and return the camera to default to be able to see through the hinged display. I have seen where this has been a problem. I have not contacted Canon about this problem yet

I was drawn to the huge zoom on this camera but it just didn't deliver the results that I was looking for. The viewfinder is very small. The screen is nice though.
