Although I haven't had the opportunity to a shoot a variety of subjects in differing conditions and places, I was able to take some quality photos right away since the placement of various controls are similar enough to my old Canon. But, this camera has so many more features! I have plenty more to learn and need to keep the manual available in order to find and use the best mode for the subject. What's even more helpful are the online tips and suggestions for making full use of this complex camera rather than just using the few easy auto features which might be satisfactory for many people.

If you are unsure about getting a DSLR, this is probably the next best thing, but get it on discount. The CanonUSA forums have lots of info and there's a review on CNET, investigate before you buy. Does NOT come with cables or a memory card, but does have a battery. Autofocus has trouble locking on to what you want at times, especially in dimmer lighting conditions. Sport mode seems to really have this issue. 65x Zoom is great, recommend using a tripod for long-distance shooting at full zoom (which is not surprising for ultrazoom cameras). Nothing exceptional about shooting quality in poor light. LCD screen blacked out for no reason a day after purchase (EVF was fine) -- corrected this by hitting the down-arrow a bunch of times. Battery life OK, much worse if you shoot video or use the LCD alot. Wifi mode allows taking simple pictures in P mode only and can't shoot advanced settings or video. A remote trigger would probably be better, but even that can't start video capture. Did not try to download pictures via wifi since I'm happy just swapping memory cards. Tripod mount is off-axis (only minor effects on stability in my use) but you can't access the battery/memory port when on a tripod.
The autofocus issues keep this from being a great camera, but it's otherwise very good at what it does.

I shoot mostly on manual settings. I don't beyond the 500mm setting and I usually get decent to pretty good image quality. Fairly decent at high ISO settings, though not spectacular. For eagles and owls, I get better images at the lowest available f-stop, usually 5.7 to 6.3 depending on zoom. Definitely lower f-stop for smaller birds. Still testing macro abilities. Have gotten some decent landscapes. Have to tweak the color a fair bit once I download to the computer.

perfect to take on a kayak. can get great video and wonderful wide angles and incredible telephotos...some loss of crispness at the ultra long range but gives pictures an impressionistic quality. wildlife and still life shots are exceptional. one camera, easy to pack with all the functions you can need without carrying numerous heavy, bulky and expensive lenses. Great job!

I bought this Canon SX60 HS camera for replacement of my old long use Canon A620 camera which I bought it in 2006 and had been used almost 9 year. everything is great especially it has such long zoom so I can take the picture of the object even a mile away although I might not need to use it often, The most favorite and useful for me in this camera is its Vari-angle LCD so I can take the pictures and videos in any angle that my old A620 also has and with its larger 3 inches screen even large and clear enough to view the pictures and menus. Thanks again to Canon to bring us such state-of-the-art powerful camera and I'm assure you will feel it's worth and love to own this camera!

My neighbor is a prosessional photographer I asked his advice for a camera to replace my cannon point and shoot that was 10 years old. He suggested this one easy to use, one lens that would meet my needs, good quality, I'm very happy with it.

I had to replace my SX50 after dropping it. This model was the replacement. I'm still getting used to the small differences, but overall I like it. At max zoom it's very shaky and the pics are usually blurry. I recommend a tripod if you plan on using full zoom. The continuous shooting mode is super fast and I get great action shots. Indoor shots in low light are not so great but outside is sweet. There are several preset modes and a manual mode. Lots of control over settings. I returned a DSLR because I didn't want to deal with all the different lenses I would need on any given day. This camera fits all my needs at a great price.

I always have loved Canon cameras. When I decided to upgrade, I went directly to a newer Canon Power Shot camera. I wanted a more powerful zoom and this was definitely it! All the important features are on this camera and the camera is very easy to use. I believe it's User Friendly! I'm sure you won't be disappointed with this camera. Also, the battery is the same as my previous camera SX50 so that's definitely a plus. My accessories fit as well. ie, camera case, lens filters, etc.

I was looking at digital slr's, but decided against the hassle of interchangeable lenses. The PoerShotSX60 HS was a great choice. Resolution, light sensitivity and mega zoom are great features! It is also easy to use.

This camera has the auto features needed to make beautiful photos no matter how little you know about taking pictures. It has enough extra features to give you room for creativity if you have experience with SLR's or if you want to take the time to learn. I had trouble getting the camera to focus on what I chose and found limitations when I wanted to change the aperture and/or shutter speed, but I believe with a little more reading of the extensive manual, I'll be able to take photos the way I want to.

I had been looking for a point and shoot camera that had features as close to my DSLR as possible. The reality is this camera has features that beat my DSLR. 1) higher megapixel 2) better video 3) wi-fi capabilities
a nice feature I like is the zoom. it has a flash port on top where my Canon flash I bought for my DSLR can be used. i also love the options of either taking a picture via view finder or LCD screen.
the quality of pictures have come out great.
you pay a bit more than you would on average for a point and camera but you get more out of it. camera is well worth its price.

This camera takes very high quality photos. The zoom is absolutely amazing, and allows me to take professional quality photos of birds and other wildlife from a distance. Its got a bunch of great settings and features too! It also has great timer settings so you can include everyone in the family photos, and it takes HD video!

My prior camera was a PowerShot also. This one is a step up with some additional features and additional zoom. Operation is the same so that was a plus. I take thousands of pics - many active shots - so I love the repeating pic feature. This PS allows each shot in a group to display separately so that is a plus from my prior camera. I have vision trouble so the LED screen is a must for me and I love being able to take pics with the camera above all the other people in my way. The screen even flips to take selfies! I haven't tried the wifi yet but am anxious to be able to send pics to family directly from my camera soon.

I have owned Canon cameras for ages. 10 years ago I bought my first digital cam Canon Powershot Ps2s and absolutely loved it!! Only thing it didn't do well was low light flash photos, but any natural light pics STILL are fantastic. So this year, it was time to upgrade. Wife gave me this for Father's Day and it is INCREDIBLE!! The zoom is off the charts. Autofocus works really well on standard shots....sometimes a little challenging on heavily zoomed shots if your in a hurry. Low light pics? Not perfect but MUCH improved over my old cam. Love this camera!! ONLY thing it needs is ability to have a "AA" battery tray so if your rechargeable goes out, you can always fall back to "AA" in a pinch (or any readily available store bought battery that's not rechargeable). I bought an extra rechargeable just in case, and if you know you are going to do some important shooting, you have to have the awareness of having the batt's charged up which I never had to do before. Small adjustment, but probably save money in long run.

Bought this for my wife to take pictures of birds in the backyard. So far, the camera has been great and the pictures have been exceptional. The wifi option is very helpful.
