Very good camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this camera. It’s a perfect size and you can carry it wherever you go. The zoom is perfect as well. You can take pictures from far away and they still look good and not blurry.

Nice but wasn't what I was looking for
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned this camera not because it was bad but because there were things about it that did not suit my needs. So I gave it a high mark of 4 stars based on its performance in my opinion. It is a basic point and shoot like a pocket digital camera but it is larger and heavier than what I am used to as most pocket point and shooters. Despite its weight it felt fragile to me like I was often concerned about messing up the lens, the way it opens and closes, it just felt fragile to me. The pictures were stunning, even zoomed in, the zoom of course is a one of the main selling points for this camera. For going to its full zoom ability (40x but then the digital zoom takes you beyond that), the image was still pretty good but at that point you really need to be using a tripod as the more zoomed in you are the more camera shake from your hands will appear. I just loved the customizability of the self timer, and that is always an important feature to me. It was highly customizable, from 2 second out to 30 second. A neat trick to illiminate camera shake on zoomed in shots is to set the self timer to 2 seconds so you can zoom in, press the shutter button then focus on steadying the camera, rather than having the camera move when you press the shutter button and mess up the photo. The video quality was crisp and the sound was good but I'm not an avid videoagrapher so I couldn't compare this to whatever is considered poor to average to great. I'd say the main disappointment for me despite the weight and feel of the camera was the price point. It appear on deal of the day a few times which I missed and if I had gotten it at that price point I may have kept the camera but for $300+ I wasn't happy enough with it to keep it.

Overall Good Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was backed into a corner when my Sony HX50V Camera died and I needed a new long zoom compact camera for birding photography. Id been a long time Panasonic user so was hesitant to switch brands again but doing research as well as struggling with muscle wasting and weakness in my hands due to disability I needed super compact but wished for a little extra zoom and shutter speed that the Sony didn't offer and even the newest Panasonic didnt. While this shutter speed is excellent and this offers 10X more zoom over the sony. I look at my photos and feel some disappointment in the overall quality and that its not quite doing justice to the effort it takes to get good images. Its hard to explain the photos seem grainier and not as crisp as I feel they should be. Hazy might be a better word. Overall its a good Camera for a compact long zoom, but it still makes me wish for better. For what is out there right now this is the best option that I could find. I should also mention the buttons and menu system on Canon is terrible, the thumb rest is blocked by the options wheel, I actually prefer that on top of the camera. I guess if you are used to Canon this all would be fine. The best menu system was Panasonic. I did as much research as possible though and new cameras by Sony are for Selfies. I needed a birding camera and for what it is this was the best I could find.

Great camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is amazing the zoom on the camera. Originally wanted a big digital camera, but decided to go with this so I could fit in in a pocket. It is very difficult to steady, however. You really need a tripod to get clear distance photos.

Great concert camera!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never had issues with Canon products. This camera does great zoom photos, so it takes excellent shots during concerts. Just came back from seeing the Scorpions in concert and loved the outcome of my photos.

Not for me.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a camera to keep in my purse to avoid those "i wish i had my camera with me" moments. I'm used to a canon t5i, a dslr with a 100-400mm lens, which is a huge heavy beast of a camera that you can only carry in a backpack. Because I've always liked that camera, I decided to give Canon another shot. However, I was overall disappointed with this camera. I didn't expect the image quality to be the same as my nice camera, however every single picture I took was soft. Indoor pictures of my cat were awful, with no individual fur distinguishable - just a wash of gray color. When I took pictures outside the color balance seemed off. The sky turned a much more deep blue than in reality and made all my outdoor shots need post processing in photoshop afterwards. I ended up spending a hundred dollars more for the panasonic lumix dmc-fz300 and was blown away by that camera. The panasonic even has better than HD quality video, my videos look like a professional movie, and my nature photography came out sharp and color correct. If you have a little extra money to spend, and camera size isnt an issue (the panasonic is about 3 times as thick, still fits in my purse but is insanely better quality) I'd go with the panasonic lumix cameras. If you want a pocket camera, this possibly would be a good buy as long as you don't require your photos to look good when viewed large. I can't see this being great for anything but internet pictures like posting on Facebook size.

Great camera for anyone. Easy Ouse.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great all around camera. Easy to use and quality is as good as my other (more expensive) cameras. Love the size, fits into your pocket or purse with ease. Took several photos of the "POPE" while in Rome and they came out fantastic. It put my expensive older Cannon camera to shame. Great battery life. It is the perfect small hand held camera! I tried several other camera which did not come close to this one.

Love the 40x Optical Zoom
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third Canon PowerShot over the past decade. It is a little disappointing that features like on-board GPS went away (probably to save battery life) at least one model ago. On the other hand, the improved optical zoom is outstanding. The camera takes great photos by day and is pretty reliable on manual settings for hand-held night shots (and it does outstanding on 15 second exposure nighttime shots when resting on a solid surface). Like the 710 which this replaced for me, the fine-tuning of the manual focus could be better (because auto-focus is fairly unreliable in lower light) - the camera sometimes seems to decide that I really didn't mean infinity when I set it to infinity and I have to keep going back to reset it. In fact, I had to replace my 710 (after about 3 years and tens of thousands of photos) because the lens would no longer retract after it fought me for hours during an evening of taking lots of photos and I hope this does not happen quickly with this model. Also, the iPhone App is really quite mediocre and hasn't improved in years. I use it to transfer photos on the go and it often just decides to disconnect; it only has very limited controls for the camera if I want to use the App's remote shooting option; and its GPS logging often loses track of where I am to the point that I usually no longer use it because it just burns my iPhone's battery for limited Geotagging success.

Excellent pictures from a compact camera
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took this camera on a trip on the DanubeRiver along with a larger camera. The canon camera took wonderfully sharp photos and because it is more compact was much easier and convenient to carry on excursions. The 20.1 megs provided extremely detailed pictures and was very easy to use. This camera duplicates one that I got for my wife earlier.

A portable and handy camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did not want to have a very small camera, with small elements difficult to find and touch. This very model is quite comfortable to use in this respect, and still portable. Good quality of fotos, quick and easy in use. What I miss in the camera is a panorama mode as some times I shoot landscapes (panorama can reflect the landscape more impressively than just a 'normal' landscape photo).

A big Camera in a small package
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this camera for a vacation out west. I wanted something that would fit in my purse. This camera is amazing. The picture quality is outstanding and there are multiple options for taking pictures. It is easy to use too. I was also able to enlarge pictures with no quality change. A friend is a professional photographer, and he recommended this camera to me.

Very happy with this camera
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 3rd Canon Powershot. Very easy to use and takes really nice pictures in both auto and manual modes. I only wish it had a panoramic setting. I wasn’t sure how the rechargeable battery would work out, but it turned out very well. I didn’t have to carry spare batteries.
