I wanted to step up my game of picture and video taking so I chose move to a Camera instead of the typical smart phone. I remembered the quality of Canon products so I chose this camera from past experience with their products.
That being said, I was not disappointed when started using this camera. The build quality of this camera is top notch. The feel of the material used to give a proper grip and thumb rest at the best position. The finger rest allows for a perfect holding position.
The screen folds out and rotates but also can be folded back in facing out. Does not have a built in flash, you will need to add one to the existing Canon Connection. SD card not included. I installed one (Fast SD card) and formatted in seconds. BlueTooth set of ok, WiFi was a little more difficult. After set up I took and transferred several pics to my phone with the Canon software. You can also set up to transfer automatically.
There are tons of customizations. >See attached screen shots< Several options for resolution including 4K30 or 1080P60. I found video stabilization worked pretty well. I have uploded some pics to show how well and accurate to colors are.
This camera has a cooling system with 2 exhaust vents and 1 intake. You could comfortably make a 2 hour pod cast video with this system and have great audio and imagery. The Speed of this camera is great as well.
There are many functions for this camera in this range and would definitely recommend.

Great point and shoot camera

The Canon PowerShot V1 is a great point and shoot camera that’s great for content creating but also delivers beautiful pics. When setting the camera up the Cannon app adds that extra bit of versatility for content creation and control of the camera. It allows you to use your phone as a Bluetooth remote, auto transfer, remote live streaming and more. The nice thing is actually how well the app works when using it to do these things. The smooth skin mode allows you to get those perfect beauty shots or wipe away those wrinkles while live streaming. It really does make significant difference in the wrinkles if you have any!
I like the fact the camera has a dedicated selection for black and white photos for the dial selector instead of having go thru the menu settings to get it. Even though you don’t have a viewfinder the screen still makes it easy to get the perfect shot. This is my first Canon camera and I must say the eye tracking is top notch. With all the different movie shooting modes the software helps you dial in the perfect content when creating your videos. If you’re a person who needs a flash, you’ll have to buy that separately. The camera charges with USB-C but there’s no cable included, not that big of a deal as I’m sure most people already have one.
The PowerShot V1 is a versatile point and shoot camera for someone who wants to create content but doesn’t want to use their cell phone.

The Canon PowerShot V1 4K is a compact camera that delivers impressive image and video quality. Its 4K video capability captures sharp, detailed footage, while the photo performance is excellent even in challenging lighting. The camera is lightweight and easy to carry, making it ideal for travel or everyday use. With intuitive controls and reliable autofocus, it’s a great option for both beginners and hobbyist photographers looking for high-quality results in a portable package. Was a bit too small for my hand and had a bit issue with that but its okay

Perfect "Grab and Go" Camera

This is a GREAT little camera! I have a Canon R5 and I wanted something I could grab and go for vlogging and general photography and videography without having to grab my entire full frame kit and lenses. I have played with it for the past week, and I love it more each day. I throw it in my pocket with an extra battery and I find myself filming more because I had it with me. It works for photography as well but you need to realize what this is. Its not a full frame powerhouse but a grab and go alternative. Love the control ring on the front lens and I can connect my Rode mic on the shoe on the top and it feels good in the hand. For the price point, I don't think you can go wrong! Especially if you wanted a vacation camera that doesn't take up a bunch of space.

My selling point for this camera was one of Peter McKinnon’s videos where he showcased this camera and could see a real world test and I’m very pleased to say it did go beyond expectations. The internal ND filter, the 17mm equivalent lens and CLOG3 10bit recording made this a standout and clear winner among compact point and shoot style cameras. Also the included dead cat that covers the internal mic is a very simple but effective feature towards getting clear and crisp audio. Go ahead and buy this mightly little camera perfect for vlogging, traveling and capturing family moments, you won’t be dissapointed!

Its a great all around camera for home video. Better then my cellphone quality. It has a built in fan to keep it cool. It feels good in the hands with its semi rubberized grip. It doest feel cheap. The video quality looks good not over sharpened, and it has the canon warm color look. The lens stabilization is good for standing. I pair it with my Zhiung crane m3s for walking around to get that buttery smooth footage. It connects flawlessly with the Bluetooth for the trigger “record button” it has digital stabilization if you want to use that for walking but it does a minor crop. The sound quality is great it has mic and headphone imput for montering your audio. Ive also tried it with the DJI mic and if you set the input level to 14 it works great! It shoots canon log “10-bit” in manually mode if you want to fine tune your color. I think all other modes are 8-bit. Over all a nice camera that turns on fast. The only downside is the batter life seems to be 45-90 min so you will need a extra battery. It

I used to be a much more avid armature photographer than I am today. When I have shot recently, I’ve enjoyed instant cameras for a nostalgia around them that I enjoy. That said, with the Canon Powershot V1 I was excited to try something more akin to a point and shoot camera, albeit with a heightened focus on vlogging and 4K video recording than the point and shoot cameras of yester-year. Here’s my thoughts after a week of playing with my new toy:
Pros:
• The camera feels substantial and incredibly well built for such a relatively small device. The grip is well texturized and gives you confidence the camera wont slip out of your hand, and there’s even a space to comfortably rest your thumb while clutching it. It’s also larger than some of the old pocketable point-and-shoot cameras from 15 years ago, so don’t expect the compactness of a 2000’s era Powershot camera.
• There’s an automatic photo/video mode that also provides on-screen tips to help familiarize you with the camera’s features. I used that setting for the first day just to see if there was anything useful I may have otherwise overlooked.
• This camera is designed to capture 4K video, and capturing high-quality 4K video in real time requires some power and in turn the camera can start to run hot. But luckily the V1 comes with a built-in fan cooling system so you can have longer film sessions. With that said, make sure you pick up a memory card that’s capable of taking advantage of what this camera’s abilities offer in terms of video quality, and read & write speeds.
• The Cannon Connect smartphone app pairs with your camera so that you can easily transfer photos to your mobile device, making it easy to start sharing your photos. The pairing process is quick and easy, and the camera walks you through it during its initial setup. You can even choose to transfer full resolution copies or reduced file size copies.
• The display flips out and swivels a full 180*, and it’s touch sensitive for easy input.
• I really like the quick Still Camera/Video toggle switch that makes it easy to go back and forth between shooting modes.
• The autofocus on the V1 is very good. Canon has a feature called Dual Pixel autofocus which features face and eye detection. There’s also a feature I have yet to experiment with where it will easily shift focuses to whatever is placed in front of the camera, which would be perfect for those who film product reviews and want to maybe switch from a view of themselves to the product they’re highlighting.
Cons:
• There’s no flash included with the camera. You can buy one separately, but you don’t get one out of the box. Canon’s own flash options also don’t come cheap.
• There’s also no USB cable in the box, which is fine by me because I have so many from just about every other device that ships with one, but may be a downside to some especially at this price.
• At $900, this camera is definitely not the cheapest option for vlogging cameras on the market, with Sony having a few competitors to this camera.
• Battery life could be better, so plan on buying a backup battery if you are going to be filming for extended periods as the battery life while filming in 4K is only about an hour.
• There’s no optical viewfinder, though that isn’t that big of a deal in my personal opinion.
Overall, I have been very impressed with both the camera’s photo and video quality. If you’re looking for something that will run laps around your phone camera, something that’s not a massive rig, and a camera that provides you with both fantastic 4K video recording and amazing still shots, then definitely consider the V1.
