Great lens but don’t buy it from Best Buy. Go to B&H. They shipped in a bubble mailer and it arrived broken. Very hard to start a rerun and only have bots to talk to. Very frustrating.

The Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L is, without question, the best lens I’ve ever used. Yes, it’s heavy, but that’s the trade-off for a lens that delivers such exceptional image quality and versatility. From edge-to-edge sharpness to beautiful bokeh, this lens performs like a set of primes packed into one. The constant f/2 aperture across the entire zoom range is a game-changer. Color rendition, contrast, and clarity are all outstanding, and the autofocus is fast and reliable. It’s not a casual walkaround lens due to its size and weight, but if image quality is your top priority, the RF 28-70 doesn’t just meet expectations, it redefines them. A true workhorse for professionals who demand the best.

I was a little worried getting this Lense because everyone kept saying how heavy it is. When I first held it, it was indeed heavy, it is big. But when I actually go out and shot I don’t feel it’s weight weighing down on my arm at all. I was debating between the Rf 85mm 1.2 L but I wanted to be able to use it in tight space as well, I was torn between the two but all the experts are saying this is just was good as a prime Len . I love this lens and absolutely no regret, if I had to start over and choose between the 85 and this zoom Len I’d choose this one again.

    Best Photo Zoom Lens Ever?

This is probably the best photo zoom lens ever produced! It's as sharp as a razor, no perceivable distortion, and it's a zoom lens that opens up to an incredible f2! The only real con of this lens is the weight. It is definitely heavy! I believe it weighs more than my 70-200mm f2.8, making it the heaviest lens I currently own. However, I will say that without a doubt, this lens, the image, and the feel give you a sense of completeness as it washes away any sense of imposter syndrome. You get paid well for your job because the average person will not go buy this lens. This lens lacks the IS of the smaller, less capable, and lesser image the 24-70mm has. For most cameras, this will not be an issue, as cameras like the R6 mark II and R5 do great with IBIS with this lens. The weight helps a great deal, as most cinematographers know, but for everything else there's always a tripod or monopod. If you were on the fence about this lens, do yourself a favorite and click the buy now button. You will be too happy about the image quality and capability to worry about "shoulda", "woulda", "coulda" to care. This is now my favorite photography zoom lens of all time.

I am using this with a Canon R3. Being able to zoom in from 28-70mm while maintaining a F2 aperture gives you a freedom you didn’t know was available as a beginner-mid level photographer. To be able to go from semi-landscape distance(24mm) to portrait distance 70mm in seconds and be at F:2 the whole time w/ L-series glass level of clarity is nothing short of amazing. This lens is fast when it comes to autofocus and with Canon R3’s eye tracking feature it’s very hard miss a shot. I recommend for anyone who is ready to bring their photos to a whole new level. Yes it’s expensive but Best Buy makes it possible with 12-24 months no interest plus with Best Buy membership you get 24 months warranty included. Sorry I don’t have any pics to show you that are not of my family right now. I will see if i can come to this review later and add some of my clients. See you out there. -Vantage Photography

It’s a beast: big and heavy, but it delivers F2 throughout its range and the images are wonderfully sharp. The new enhanced coatings significantly reduce flare. I couldn’t be happier.

Seriously the best lens ever! Going from an f stop of 2.8 to 2.0 changes the game! Lens is heavy so a long day of photos will make your wrist ache a bit but it is worth it!

This lense is amazing! The quality of photos i take with it leave me in aw. Works great with all kinds of lighting and the zoom is very handy. The only thing which most should be aware of is that its a very heavy lense so if yiur holiding it up for some time your hands will get tired.

Debated on this lens for quite a long time. Watched every video/read every review. Ordered it. The order was canceled because it was on back order. I had every opportunity to say no to this lens. What I'm getting at is if you are on the edge, buy this. Paired with my EOS R6. This lens delivers terrific results. The sharpness is pristine. The subject separation is great, in my opinion the difference between F2 and F2.8 is worth the extra cost. A few times I've wished the lens was wider, but I also pair this with the RF 15-35 so I have all the focal range I need. I have not shot much with primes so I cannot tell you my experience with this lens versus primes, but while shooting I hate changing lenses. The rear lens cap on these RF lenses have to be lined up just right to be placed correctly, this while this seems small, it does slow you down. I do not shoot video professionally so I cannot give you my opinion on the video side; however, Monkeypixels has a good review on Youtube for video. That being said the autofocus is much louder when compared to my 15-35. Everyone is going to tell you that this lens is BIG and HEAVY, and it is. But, it is not unbearable. I'd rather carry a heavier lens than worry about changing lens. The weight is not an issue to me. I shouldered this lens on a hike the other day with not much issue. The cons of this lens are its filter size, zoom lock, and build finish. The filters for this lens are VERY expensive and in short supply. Square filters are the best bet for this lens, but come with their own drawbacks. Also, while minor, the zoom lock only locks the lens at 28mm. It would be nice to be able to lock the lens at a certain focal range. The matte black finish is aesthetically pleasing, but feels kind of cheap and is prone to scuffs and scratches. This is a fantastic lens, and it will deliver you quality results. It is not by any means perfect, but it is worth it. I am satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it. If you are on the edge, jump. Or, go rent it from a camera store and test it out.

Sure, it is bigger (and heavier) than the typical 24-70 2 f2.8 lens offering from manufacturers. And, for most folks, this probably isn't a lens you'd want to take on vacation. Unless you've got a particular need, there are lenses better suited for vacation shooting. But...for event/portrait/wedding shooting, or any other time where you need (or want) f2 while maintaining the convenience of a zoom, the 28-70 is hard to beat.

This lens is like the Thor’s hammer of lenses. I purchased it to shoot events and to harness the full strength and might of f/2.0 and I wasn’t disappointed. Due to the thickness of the barrel the lens is able to allow more light into the lens at lower iso wide open and faster shutter speed. I shoot Mainly nightclub events so the lens was a dream to use. No image stabilization? Whatever... I can shoot at 1/60 shutter speed at 320+ easy and still Capture ambient light in the background at certain venues on my brand new r6 which has ibis with no motion blur. I have zero regrets about the price because now I have about 5 primes lenses in the form of one zoom lens. The only trade off is the weight which is around 3lbs but it’s ok. I haven’t been to the gym in a while so this is my new fitness regimen and will get lighter for me as I get used to it. After the first night I used it my pectoralis majors are sore AF from lifting up my camera for crowd shots paired with a custom bracket rotating camera bracket and a 600rt which puts my rig at around a whopping 5-7lbs with my adapted ef70-200 strapped to my waist. I shot the event for 3 hrs and I’ve done at least 60 reps of overhead lifts, around 80 squats to shoot certain people at eye level due to me being 6’2”. A few women who I photographed were twerking dropping down low to the ground caused me to have to shoot at that vantage point causing me to have to execute maneuvers that would equate to about 30 upright burpees and I loved every single minute of it. My glutes really took a beating as well. Overall I’m impressed with the cameras ability to pull off 90% accuracy at f/2 in low to almost no light. It would’ve been 100%if I didn’t use eye af due to it sometimes locking onto faces and more contrasty areas in the background but that’s a user error and something I will be able to improve as I use the camera more using expanded cross points af. The Focus motors seem pretty fast as well and have never been able to capture so efficiently in my 12 years of shooting. This lens body combo is by far the greatest rig I’ve used to date. Mirrorless technology is the future of the photography industry and it’s still at the beginning stages. I can’t imagine it getting any better after a another generation of R bodies and RF lenses but it will and I’m excited and scared at the same time. If you can afford it... buy it. You will not regret

First, this is a big lens and a little on the heavy side, but it is soooo good. Fast, crisp throughout, can focus at close range, and fantastic bokeh. I hesitated on the cost difference vs. the 2.8 (especially without IS on this one) but am glad I spent the extra.

Last year I picked up the rf 24-70 2.8 and was not happy with it. The image quality wasn’t what I expected ,and I wasn’t happy with the subject separation. I felt like the 70-200 rf 2.8 and even my F2 85 macro was giving out better images on my R5. So I got rid of it for the rf 50 1.2. The image quality, sharpness, and colors were quite frankly 2nd to none in any lens I’ve ever owned. The 50 mm 1.2 bokeh was great as well. The only problem is the 50 mm was limiting me on what I could shoot. It was hard to use for indoor events where I needed to get all the subjects in frame . So I hardly used the 50 mm 1.2. I finally decided to get rid of it for the 28-70. I do not regret buying the 28-70. It is very versatile for what I photograph which is events, and family photography . It is heavy but after two weeks you will get used to it. Now as far as sharpness, and image quality goes this trails a bit from the 50 1.2 rf. That 50 almost had the quality of a medium format image. This lenses iq and sharpness is better than 24-70 rf 2.8, 15-35 rf 2.8, 70-200 rf2.8, and any other EF lens I have owned.

All of the hype is REAL. I do not take this lens off my camera body. Like ever. I actually sold some of my tried & fire lenses because they were getting dusty from my lack of use. This lens is perfect for just about every style of photography. I will admit, the size and weight of it is extreme, but worth it.

It is best zoom len ever!!! This len is heavy and expensive, but its quality is the best. If I compare the quality between this len with my old Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8, I would think this len is much better. In addition, this len can focus very quickly.
