Great upgrade from basic DSLR flash!

This unit is an good upgrade from the basic flash included on most DSLRs. However it may leave you wanting a better flash when you see what some of the very nice units out there can do for only $100 more.
It includes nice features such as being able to use bounce flash (limited to only vertical 45, 60, or 75 degrees) and act as a wireless remote. It can also be used to provide wireless flash as a slave unit.
Overall if you are an amateur photographer with a Cannon DSLR and just want a little nicer flash than the camera has built in, this flash is perfect for you. But if you need to use more advanced features such as horizontal bounce flash, and IR focus adjustment, then I recommend moving one step up to the Cannon SpeedLite 430 EX II.

This small and compact speedlite is the perfect complement for the Canon T6i camera. It more than compensates for the built-in flash and provides more than enough light to illuminate the subject.

Completely satisfied with this flash unit. Compact, light weight, and works as specified with no problems. Like battery function that turns off flash when not using, but automatically turns back on and is ready when needed.

Its is a wonderful piece for those who are beginning in photography or those who are doing as a hobby! The directions are very simple and helpful. It has different degrees of angles that you can shoot with. The only downside I've found on this piece is that it goes through batteries quite fast. But all and all Canon made a very good project that works well and is reliable.

The flash works perfectly with my Canon camera. All I had to do was add the batteries, slide the flash onto the hot shoe connection, turn on the flash and camera and I was ready to start photographing. I took sample shots without the flash and then using the flash and there was a noticeable improvement. The flash is capable of much more and I cannot wait to begin experimenting and exploring all possibilities.

Great starter flash. Can be used as a slave flash. Only thing that would make it better is if it came with a rechargeable battery.

I needed a flash to take photos at a night wedding. Researched flashes and this one was compatible with my camera, seemed easy to understand and use since there was no extra time for "learning". Bought the Flash with help from a Best Buy associate. Returned home, read the small amount of instructions, slid the flash on the camera, used the AUTO settings, and all worked perfectly. The Flash was a big assist and improvement over the Pop-up flash I was used to using. The flash was not heavy and did not add extra bulk to the camera assembly. It was a definite "best buy"---glad I took the chance. I am completely happy with my purchase.

There isn't any pop up flash for the 6d. The 270ex is small and easily carried for occasions that a flash may be needed in a low light situation or as a fill in contrasty day light situations. For these situations it's a great problem solver. Perfect for these intended purposes and packs a lot more power than the pop up.

We bought this as an extra flash to use with a yearbook staff, and it is a great flash that is small enough to carry in your pocket when you are going to am event. It is a flash that allows you the option of tilting the head to bounce the light off the ceiling for a more natural looking effect.
