It's a slave light so which make this light even cooler because once you buy the master light it than triggers thru waves and allows this one to flash without a use a of camera. AWESOME! Thx BBY!

I bought this Flash because I want to get into photography (weddings, photoshoots, etc.) So I knew I needed somthing powerful enough to work with my 18-135mm lens, but I couldn't spend $500-$600. (i'm just starting out) With the Speedlite 430 EX II being $260 at the time. I had to jump on this. Love this flash. The only thing i didn't like about it (like all flashes) is the interface. Its so...dated. I mean its 2013 already and no has step up to the plate and designed an easier interface? i mean i know it runs on 4 AA batterys so they want to save battery life, but come on Canon. Take the lead on this. Don't wait for another company to do it so you can then follow. *Cough-CompactSystemCamera-Cough*

I wanted this flash for my 60D, I have it now. Watched it on Canon.com, saw it at Best Buy 50.00 cheaper. I am extremely happy with my purchase, I also purchased my camera through BB as well.

Great Speedlight (flash) for a Beginner

This flash was exactly what i was looking for. This was the first flash I had ever purchased and I didn't want to spend much but I was still looking for the great quality. This flash is great I can use it as an on camera flash, an off camera flash or even as a main light in a portable studio. I was really surprised by the amount of light the flash gave at full power. It also has a very fast recycle time. The price was great and it has everything a photographer could be looking for. I've been taking awesome pictures. I made a full review of this Speedlight here: http://diminophotography.blogspot.com/2015/02/canon-430ex-speedlight-review.html

A great external flash for the DSLR hobbyist

I am not a professional photographer. If I was, I would probably get the Speedlite 580ex II instead. That said, this a great external flash for the aspiring photographer or hobbyist. Sure, you can spend less and get the Speedlite 270ex II instead, but that flash is less powerful, and so you might as well stick with the on-board flash on the camera. The pictures taken with this flash are much clearer compared to pictures taken using the on-board flash. I use this flash when taking pictures indoors (by bouncing the light off the ceiling and walls) and at night. The pictures come out much better. Plus, if you have a young child or an infant and don't want to risk damaging their eyesight temporarily, you can bounce the light off the ceiling instead of flashing them face-on. Kids get annoyed when they're being constantly blinded by camera flash. By bouncing the light off the wall or the ceiling, you'll get a much more cooperative subject when you're trying to capture those special moments. Botton line, this is a great flash. Definitely recommended.

Get 2 and a trigger for pro level lighting

For the money you can't beat the 430EX II. The recycle time on this flash is incredible. Even at full power you can get about 3 shots off before it takes a second or two to recycle. At 1/2 or 1/4 power you can fire away and this flash will pop every time. Add a second 430EX II and a trigger that supports E-TTL and ratios and you have a field lighting setup that will take your photography to the next level. Key light + fill flash, no problem. Key light + back light, no problem (depending on trigger and position of the back light). This flash will satisfy all your lighting needs and won't burn through the batteries (or your wallet), either. As an added bonus, the 430EX II doesn't have the wireless trigger interference issues that the more expensive 580 EX II does. You absolutely can't go wrong with this flash.

Phenomenal product from Canon. Relatively inexpensive in comparison to the other Canon models. Yet, provides similar function. Linked three of these right out of the box with a 7D and used the in camera flash control with no issues. Upgraded to radio triggers and still perform with no problems.

This flash has all the basic features and more to bring out the good picture taken skills you may have, solving poor lighting problems even during outdoors sessions. Some high-end photographers still relies on this basic model, its big brother Speedlite 580EX II... is just too much for a beginner.

    Great flash for difficult situations

As a real estate agent, I need to take outstanding pictures of homes that I list. That's not always easy due to less-than-desirable light conditions, furniture and accessory placement, wall colors, and room shapes. This flash allows me to bounce from literally any angle and capture the best each room has to offer. Best yet, it recharges before I'm ready to take that next picture. On a scale of 1 to 5, this flash is a 6!

Flash is easy to attach to the camera with very little effort. Once on the camera is is very east to work. I have used it a ton already and pictures are so much better in poor light.

I'm so happy with this flash. It did great as a back flash; I wasn't sure if it would have enough power, but it did! At night and outdoors, it lit my subjects just fine. The remote function works great as well. It's really easy to use and I love using it as an off camera flash. For a first flash purchase, I'm satisfied with it.

great flash ! even if you have a built in flash this flash is great to redirect light in any direction, makes drastic changes in picture quality, only slow down I had was programming the stand to flash when not attached to the camera.

I can tell the difference right away when using this flash. I am not much of a flash photographer, but there are times I felt having extra light would be better. I bought this flash a day before leaving to Puerto Rico. Even though there is plenty of sun on the beach, too much sun in wrong direction is bad too. This flash has done an amazing job of capturing great shots. I still have to learn functionality in detail. But, I would recommend this to not-so-pro photographers out there.

I have a 600 EX-RT and purchased the 430 as a secondary flash or my walk about flash as it is lighter and smaller which gives me extra space on the go. it is a great flash and puts out enough light to use with my 24-70 L lens indoors in a large room. Also shoots well with my 70-300 L in an outdoor setting although it is not ranged to 300 mm. I recommend this speedlight to anyone interested in learning more about using a light modifier while shooting any Canon DSLR. Go out and get your shot!

This flash was my second purchase of this flash. I had one, but we went ahead and got another so my assistant could have one as well. It gives a ton of light for those dark reception pictures, helping to capture candid shots for the couple. I am very happy with this purchase. Only thing I don't like is the battery usage. I make sure to have a back up set of batteries because if I use it for a while, the speed of flashes seems to get slower and slower.

Great flash with lots of power for a zoom lens.. Very user friendly.. Swivels with ease, when you want to bounce the flash.. Another plus is rechargable batteries can be used… Flash seems to power for awhile before the batteries die.. Would recommend if you need a flash with more power ...
