If you are a Canon user and have been frustrated in the past with their flash units... forget about it. These are awesome! No more line of sight worries, no more pocket wizards, etc... This is what you want. The great thing is that the more of these you have the more creative you can get. I have 6 of these units and the Canon ST-E3-RT Speedlite Transmitter also. You just can't go wrong. I'll buy two more before I am done. The creative possibilities are endless!

When you read online to buy the cheaper less expensive YN flashes that are almost exact to this,please do not waste your time nor money. The genuine canon speedlights are built like tanks and you will not get one that is D.O.A. I did alot of reading and saw ppl buying 4-5 of the cheaper ones and having to return 1-2 right off the bat cuz they didnt function period and after a few (2) uses the others died. Also if something ever went wrong you have the canon name and canon service that will take care of you 100%. These lights add another realm of photography to your pics if you havent been using flash or used the flash thats built in,theres no comparison. Pay the extra money and get the quality and performance of genuine canon products!

This flash is by far the best one on the market for Canon DSLRs. The wireless radio communication is great when using multiple flashes. You no longer need to be able to see the flash or use a third party trigger to fire the flash. If you can afford the higher price of this flash, I HIGHLY recommend purchasing it!

No sense in having a great CANON camera and lose all the great shots due to a built in flash unit that is good only to about 5 feet...when by using this superb flash unit, you can light up the room. This flash is suitable for the professional to the beginner and as I am a novice and much the amateur photographer, I love a flash unit that does all the computations and mental work. I took it out of the box, set it up, put it on my Canon camera, and then took over 600 flash photos at a wedding and reception. NOT ONE photo was over exposed or needed any photoshop touch ups. This unit is fast, quick to recharge, and easy on the AA batteries. I used 8 batteries for this shoot, but only because the flash unit is smart enough to let you know by slower recycling times that fresh batteries should be used. This unit can expand to remote operations, and a zillion other possibilities that once I get my PHD (like never), I may use....so, yes, it may be over kill for beginners, but it is a flash unit that will never out grow the camera technology which will follow it. Call it the FLAGSHIP Flash or whatever, this baby rocks. It is so simple to use, even I can use it.....so don't be intimidated by this flash unit, embrace it and just see how much better all of your flash photographs look when properly filled in with perfect white light. This is the only flash unit you will ever have to buy....so glad I got that off my bucket list.....while bigger is not always better, in this case it is....reach out across a reception hall and light up that candid shot....rave results from the people who see the photos who didn't even know you were there. Enjoy making yourself happy and others happy with this exceptional flash unit.

I have two of them, very best flash and most to have if you want your pictures to look good. You can always use one as a master and one as a slave for a plenty of light, or use a transmitter and both of them as a slave and use one on each side of the object, so many thing you can do... but one thing is for sure, you going to need a lot of AA batteries. In one day I'm going thu 4-8 AA batteries.

This flash has almost every option you could want, I use it with my 430 as a slave for mobile shoots and it works amazing. If you are looking into this level of flash then the price is not going to be an issue because you are already thinking "investment". Much more powerful that the 430 and has many more features.

This is a great flash, in the beginning I wondered if it was more flash than I needed. However, once I figured it out, I realized that there was so much more that I could use it for to ad depth and interest to my photos, both indoors and out. To help me familiarize myself with the flash, I watched a couple tutorial videos on YouTube. I found that the ones by Gary Fong and B&H Camera/Video were really helpful. Also, a DVD by Blue Crane Digital on this flash was good as well.

Love the Canon 600EX-RT speedlite-it is the second one I have purchased and I plan to buy a third. I use the Canon ST-E3-RT speedlite transmitter on my Canon 5D Mark lll camera and I'm good to go. No other triggers needed. My pocket wizard radio triggers may be collecting dust now. The 600EX-RT did intimidate me at first as my experience with speedlites was a bit limited at that time. I actually kept my first 600EX-RT in the box for months. However, once I did get use to the interface on the speedlite I had no problems with the ST-E3-RT speedlite transmitter as they kept the interfaces almost the same. (Due to my lack of experience, I'll admit to purchasing a Michael the Maven (Michael Andrew) tutorial specific to the 600EX-RT speedlite. It really takes you by the hand. Most people probably wouldn't have to go to that extreme. After that I finally dove in head first and wondered why I had waited so long). The "RT" in the name refers to "radio trigger" which is so much better than optical triggers which need line of sight. Radio waves travel further and can go through obstacles like walls, etc. If you don't have the ST-E3-RT speedlite transmitter, one 600EX-RT can trigger another 600EX-RT but you are more or less wasting the flash that's doing the triggering. If it is not contributing to the lighting setup it makes for a pretty expensive trigger. The ST-E3-RT is half the price. I also have an older Canon 580EX speedlite but the 600EX-RT blows it away. I rarely look back at the 580EX. I will mention, however, that the ST-E3-RT speedlite transmitter only works with the 600EX-RT as it is strictly radio transmission vs. optical transmission. And what a great combination these two make!

Much easier to use than the 580 EX II. More reliable and cycle time is much faster. Many more options to make a pro's life easier.

Powerful flash for great in-door event use. It's bit pricy but it does great job compare to it's cheaper version.

Camera flash has more features than the model below. Makes using this flash much easier.

Bought multiple units for use as lighting for portraits. Easier to use and transport than studio lighting. Only drawback to these units is a relatively steep learning curve to get the benefits of what they can do. Not the most intuitive product but worth the effort.

I am a professional photographer who uses multiple flashes during receptions. We used to rely on 3rd party remote triggers like pocket wizards and they were sometimes reliable at best. The 600's have an amazing built in radio transmitter and doesn't need line of sight. Best flashes canon has ever made by far!

There are so many flash options out there that are good, but this flash is definitely the best. Don't settle for cheaper off brands or even one of the Canon flashes low on the totem pole. Go for this one. It has a broad range and is literally good for everything. You will not regret it.

Don't go cheap on your speedlights. I started with two 430's wich are great backups but if I had to do it all over again I would have spent the extra dough for the 600. This flash will last you a long time and it will definitely pay for itself a few times over!

This Canon flash is a wonderful, top of the line flash that is great for professional photography. There are a few more items to invest in with this flash as opposed to the Canon Speedlite 430 EX II. The 430 (or two 430s even) is what I would recommend to a friend shooting recreationally.

This external flash is easy for a beginner to yes and also allows a novice to use custom settings. While it is expensive it is well worth the cost. Great quality.
