I have been using this camera for nearly two years now with no issues. It has been a great beginner camera for me and working with a small company filming high school soccer and I have used it quite a bit for live streaming with a streaming device that I can connect to with a camera link through the HDMI port. I would definitely recommend this camera as a beginner camera.

I've been looking for a HD camera for some time. I wanted a high end consumer camera for Pioneer power steam shows, Family events, racing , things that move and make sounds. The video and audio with the canon shotgun mic are great. the camera is easy to use and with a couple of 64 MB cards, will allow you to take a lot of video. The touch screen tells you a great deal and the viewfinder is handy. All in all it's a great camera for the price, and I've always had good luck with Canon

This pro-sumer camera provides great video quality, lots of features to customize your shot and a great touch screen. For $1300 this camera is overpriced as a 2013 model that does not offer 4K. The Canon XF400 4K UHD will ship in November and is worth the wait. All in all this is a great camera at a lower price point.

I chose this camera for its 20X zoom, its OLED touch screen, and its tilting EVF viewfinder. I didn't want a 4K camera because 4K is a waste for things like computer & tv viewing (read CNET on 4K) and the file sizes are way too big. Why pay extra? I have given the camera a workout, recording a nesting pair of white crowned pigeons through a window for up to 10 hours a day. I used duel Lexar 1000x 128GB memory cards and shooting at high def 1920 x 1080p I was able to record everything on one card (shooting at 4K takes up 4 times as much space, and unless you're shooting a movie for the big screen, you gain nothing). Here's a tip: You can have the camera select still frame pictures for you (JPEGs), but if you have Adobe Premiere Elements or a similar program, you are better off downloading your video to your computer and grabbing a 'freeze-frame' from the software (in Premiere you get a BMP that is clearer, and in Photoshop Elements or other photo-editing software you can edit it into anything you want).

I've done two video shoots with this so far, and the video recorded was extraordinary. I've used other professional Canon equipment and this puppy seems to make video every bit as nice. The same shoot used some lower end Vixias that trouble with low light (grainy) but not this. I'm really happy with it.

I've used this camera for shooting over 12 hours of video. both indoors and out. the video is excellent and the camera is fairly easy to operate and handle. I really like the 20X optical zoom and stabilization. It's a great camera for the money.

Great camcorder, easy to operate, great video, My biggest complaint is these big companies make the process of getting your video and pictures on to your computer so complicated . Seriously, we can push share on our phones and bam its done. However with this camera you have to first go to a web site get a canon cremera downloader before your computer even recognizes you have video to download. So come on smart guys at Canon make these easy to put on our desk tops and you will sell a lot more. Great Camcorder, just think it should be simpler to upload your pictures.

Beautiful picture quality. Well built. Couple minor design changes I would like, for example, being able to adjust audio level with custom wheel, like I could on the g20. Mic input in a poor place. Other than that...great

For great videos, this is a good semi-pro camcorder. The G40 has now 20x zoom where as the G20 had only 10x. There is a hot shoe to add a flash if needed. Great looking HD videos. Slots for 2 SD cards. Would defintely recommened

This camcorder is a workhorse and you can do anything your mind desires. 20X optical zoom, you can see pictures with a razor sharp focus and the wide DR gamma is phenomenal as well. To get a good idea of what this camera offers, there are plenty of video tutorials out there and should be helpful.

Great camera in full HD, and all the features that we needed for the office. Just a heads up, this is NOT a 4K camera, so don't complain it doesn't shoot 4K, because it's suppose to.
