Great little camera to carry around in your palm of your hand...don't weigh anything at all very easy and simple to operate...battery last a good while...would recommend to anyone

Using this camcorder to conduct interviews in the streets and for my son's soccer games. For interviews I plug an external Audio-Technica microphone in the MIC in plug. I usually record at 35Mbps to external SD card but once I had removed it and forgot to replace it for shooting. The internal memory came in handy as emergency storage. Can download the files on my Mac and use directly in Final Cut Pro X. I got this as a replacement for a broken R600 (my bad). The user interface is more intuitive than the previous generation. Small enough to bring everywhere. Powerful enough to record quality videos when you need to. I have nothing bad to say about this camcorder. Get an extra pair of batteries. I always have 3 extra batteries handy as a single battery won't last more than 70min to 90min.

The Canon - Vixia HF R70 16GB does well as an indoor video camera. If you will be using it outside, a hood will help reduce glare. This model has wireless capability which is useful if you want to do some basic controls from your smart phone. The slow motion and time lapse work well as does follow-me focus. Image stabilization could be better and needs to be turned on in the menu. A tripod is always the best option. Sound is usable for background but for interviews or lectures an external shotgun or wireless mic with a separate pre-amp or recorder is the best option. For uses such as youtube a wide angle lens adapter would be helpful. A ring light or other fill lighting will also improve results as this is a small sensor compared to DSLRs. Where a camcorder like this one excels over a DSLR is in recording time (3 hrs is no problem with 128 GB SD card). Until we see the 29 min DSLR limit removed this is a good low cost option for longer recordings.

Battery lasted longer than I anticipated. Great product and easy to download to laptop. I let my grandson video tape a few minutes and came out clear. Love that it also takes picture shots

This is my first video camera since the dvd era and I was impressed. I mostly use it to record H.S. Sports and soccer games. The quality is great and output on my mac is exactly what I was hoping for. I recommend this camera to anyone looking for an easy to use and high quality camera.

This camcorder is very easy to set up and use. It takes very good quality video. The built in hard drive is a very nice feature. Extra battery is recommended.

It's small but mighty, fits in the palm of your hand. Takes great videos. Color and clarity are beautiful. The battery lasts a long time.

I really like the ease of use, and am happy with the picture quality for the most part. I find that while it is stable, it doesn't pan as well as my old mini-dv recorder. I mostly use this to film lacrosse games, and if I try to follow the play too quickly, I get a blurred image. It took some getting used to in order to find the sweet spot for zooming in or out, and for following the play. Changing angles is important so that less panning is needed.

I just bought this camera because of its wifi and nfc features in order to have a quick and easy way to transfer videos from the camera to my phone and computer. What I found is that the supporting phone app and Mac/PC software is written by a third party and the app/software is about as horrible as it gets. First off, the phone app (I have a Nexus 6p) does not support Android 6.0. I found in reading that they did not upgrade their app too android 5.0 until 10 months after 5.0 had come out. Now android 6.0 is already 5 months old. In any case it comes down to the fact that I can't even use the phone app for wifi or nfc. Even worse, in reading the reviews for the app in the Google Play Store, one after another is a complaint about how awful the software is. The PC software for my desktop is and awful mess, non-intuitive and doesn't seem to function well. Unfortunately for the above reasons, I am returning this camcorder today to order a model from a different manufacturer. Canon needs to learn that putting out a good product, only to have the experience ruined because they hired extremely shoddy third party developers to write the app/software us not a good idea. I have used Canon products in the past from cameras to printers but I have never had an experience this bad.

Used this to record high school soccer games and exceeded my expectations of quality. Very easy to use. I would recommend buying a spare battery since the battery included only provides you with 180 minutes when fully charged.

Good image quality as long as you have adequate lighting! And have to be careful which external mic you use. But overall a good purchase.☺

Easy to use , light weight , pictures are clear , great buy for me I love this camera

Ultra light and easy to use. Has good battery life, and great sound/image. Would highly recommend buying attachable light if using in dim place. Shot photos indoors in low light and caused some video to have a grainy appearance even on auto light setting (venue was pretty dark). All video shot in normal light was perfect. Really pleased with it and intend to use all the time.

Very simple to use but the quality of the video is great. We first used it on a trip to a zoo in Canada and the video I got with this camera was amazing. It is light weight and fit right in my hand with all the buttons right at my fingertips. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to have a great camera for those memorable moments.

I got this cam for interviews, autosports, and birding. Like any LED screen, it's hard to see the screen in the sunlight. Focus is slow, but the 30x zoom is great. The mic input sets this camera apart, if you need an external mic. Good buy, would recommend.

When I'm recording an event for a client, I don't want to have any issues. This camcorder is so easy to use. The picture and sound quality is great. The small size is very convenient which makes traveling with it a breeze. I'm very happy with my purchase!

Looking for a camcorder for my daughter, as she does videos for school, YouTube, etc. Quality is outstanding, and very easy to use! My daughter is pleased with the quality and no shake during filming. Focuses very well on the subject and very little blur.

It is very nice camera from Canon. Picture quality is good & very easy to use. However, it only has 16GB internal memory, which allows you to record in HD for less than 2 hours

My husband needed a camera that he can use for work, he needed something small and easy to use, this was the perfect fit. Easy to use and great videos also.
