This is a great camcorder for most any consumer use. The size and weight are very nice for handheld use, when not attaching to a tripod. Picture quality is great, as good as I've seen in ones costing a lot more. Simple to use with automatic functions, with a little bit of flexibility when you want it. I chose this one over a similar-looking and similarly priced Sony (my regular brand for years) because this includes some more flexible outputs like analog audio/video.

This is a great inexpensive video camcorder. I purchased for recording training videos on the golf driving range, against a green screen for work and family events. The quality is great, easy to use and fits easily in the palm of your hands or tripod. This product is excellent and is highly recommended for anyone looking for a great camera.

Really nice camcorder for the amateur consumer. Zoom, mic and headphone jack, touchscreen controls are very nice, and no shoe adapter, but an $11 bracket from ebay will cure that... The video quality is really good, and easy to use, you got a lot for the price.

It is light weight and does good quality videos, will also take photos. I would recommend this product.

Surprisingly small and light, yet with great potential. This is my Forth video camera, so I have quite a bit of experience. What impressed me most, was recording to a solid state"chip". The tape transport failure of my first two cameras led to them being sidelined, so I a looking to better longevity in the VIXiA HF R700.I just shot my grandsons Graduation, and the color and sound were great. Looking forward to the next project.

This one is compact, light weight and very useful. The zoom is great for recording my kids play soccer or basketball and I'm on the other side of the field/court. Very easy to use, can hold up to 200 gb memory card with no problems. Out in the sun and inside it looks good no issues. I might just grab another battery soon since i ended up using it way more then i thought since it records pretty good.

Easy to use right out of the box! Good battery life! I bought this camera when my son was born, to capture all the little (and BIG moments) DO NOT regret!! If you are looking for an easy to use, great picture quality camera, this is it!

Bought to record sons football game. Good clear quality of video. nice and compact and light. One thing I do not like is that you have to manually close the lens protector. I would think that would be automatic.

I bought this video camera on sale and so far so good. Pretty easy to operate, takes nice HD videos and very small (except the battery is a little large). But overall I'm thrilled with the video camera.

Great little camera... it may be fairly small in size but it is BIG on quality. I bought this camera for a small church that broadcast their message on local cable. They needed great quality but, it also needed to be simple for their volunteers to operate. The R700 is perfect for the job! Video is crisp and clean and the audio is great. If you want to look like a pro, but don't have a big budget, this camera is for you!

Got this as a replacement for a Sony video camera that was lost, so my review will be more of a comparison between the two. Picture button/icon was in an awkward part of the camera, the corner of the screen. I like taking pictures whIle filming. The different settings on how to record (HD, MP4, etc.) is a bit much for me, just a simple HD was alright. The other options were just bells and whistles I didn't care for. I can easily record in HD, download it onto a free video editing program and post it on Facebook easily or burn it onto a DVD or play it on my HD TV and not have to worry about quality. Other than that, it works for what I need.

My wife wanted to start a youtube channel and we needed something that wouldn't break the bank that could shoot better footage than a phone. This camera is perfect. We love the fact that it has a microphone input because you can get so much better audio quality from an external mic. The image quality is great and the video sizes are not huge so they are easy to work with, even on our older computers. The only thing I do not like is that it doesn't have the ability to be used as a webcam via USB, and although it being small is a good thing, I wish it was heavier so the image stabilisation would be easier to do.

I needed an affordable camera to capture the firsts for my child. The "baby mode" is what ultimately made the decision to purchase this camera. I haven't done much else with it besides record quick video clips. Zoom is adequate and the battery life on the standby mode is EXCELLENT! My cons are the external battery. It's rather bulky and can make holding the camera a little awkward if trying to zoom using one hand.

This camcorder is so easy to use and very light weight. The quality of the videos are HD sharp. It is easy to transfer from the camcorder to a thumb drive and then to any other device.

Bought this for my grandfather who needed a new camcorder since his old one used cassette tapes and those are crazy expensive. Bought this item on sale on Black Friday for an awesome price but was skeptical about it's quality. A few months later, and my grandfather loves this item! I was originally going to purchase this as a tester camcorder to see if he could handle the technology then upgrade him to a better one, but it appears he loves the quality of this camera, it's lightweight and although it took a little bit of explaining to him on some of the features - he picked up quickly and I don't think I need to buy him another!

I purchased this camcorder as a secondary to use while filming the marching band that my daughter performs in. I use a Canon Vixia G20 as my primary camera (thus giving this one only four stars). The R700 is easy to use and gives great video with the standard settings. It gives a professional look at a fraction of the cost!
