We used this camera to record our daughter’s senior volleyball year, from regular seaso, to tournaments, to the state playoffs. All in all it did a really good job!

This is a great HD camera. I just used it to shoot a feature film. It is very intuitive and shoots awesome footage. If you don't have enough light indoors it will tell you (boxes won't appear around a person's face), you can also set exposure limits, there are outdoor and indoor settings, playback mode, cinematic settings, and because the camera is so small you can mount it anywhere. It fits on any tripod and is so easy to use. You will need additional lighting sometimes indoors, but other than that this camera is perfection!

This is my 3rd Canon Vixia (most recent purchase date below). Canon updates models in this series every few years with new or revised software features for different photographic styles. It is a light, easy to operate videocamera. There is a still photograph setting too. 57X zoom makes the camera versatile for many photographic subjects & settings. It fits in light, padded camera cases made by other camera & accessory manufacturers. Remember to get an SD/HC Media Card to save your photos. In- camera memory size varies with each model. Definitely check on affordable warranty plans from Geek Squad/BestBuy for the camera too. BestBuy photo above shows the fold-out preview screen.

I love how easy this video camera is to use! My old video camera malfunctioned 2 days before my son's first grade program at school, so I needed a good, reliable replacement that wasn't too complicated to figure out. I already own a Canon digital camera, so I knew the quality would be excellent. I was looking for one that had internal memory in addition to using a memory card, so this camera was the perfect choice. I thought the price was very reasonable too! Great job Canon!

The Canon Vivia RF R80 is a good camcorder. I use it personally for recording videos of screens.
Here are some key things you should know:
- It has 16 GB of memory on-board and available to use. If you are recording BIG projects, you will need a more expansive flash card for more memory-intensive projects.
- For some weird reason, Canon decided to have this camcorder record video in segments that are 24-25 minutes long. What I mean by this is if you record a 1 hour-long video, when you put it into video software it will actually appear as (about) 4 seperate video clips, all around 20-25 minutes long [seems to depend on the level of software usage]. As you can imagine, this produces a ton of miniature clips for longer takes. If you have good video software, you should be able to combine all the clips into one take again, but just be aware of this odd limitation.
- This camcorder only records up to 1080p. It does not record 4K. If you are just recording for basic HD needs, your probably fine, but I know lots of people like better picture. If that is the case, upgrade to the 4K model of this series or another camcorder/camera.
- The R80 has enough tailored features to still be usable. The typical screening changes are all here, the increased stability option is very good if you have shaky footage. For most basic functions, this camcorder would have a decent response for playing and editing.
- Watch the battery! It seems to only last about 2 hours or so, so just be careful on how long you keep it going, idling, etc. It does come with a camera-input charger, so you can also just leave it plugged in.

I bought this camera for basic video-making, so I am not exactly demanding "This is Cinerama!" results. I take basic "home movie" type videos, and that's about it. I will not be using the built-in editing functions due to my big fingers and the small buttons. Besides, that is what iMovie, Windows Media, or Serif MoviePlus is for.
So far, I am very pleased with the performance. The images are sharp; it gives very good video under low lighting conditions, and the colors seem quite accurate. My only quibble is that the built-in microphone overloads easily and the automatic level control could be a better. I record my piano practice sessions in an effort to get past camera- and audience-fright, and the recorded sound is rather distorted. To be fair, it could be the fact I have "too much piano" for the size of the room.

Tried this out a couple of times in different lighting. Outside or in a well lit room it takes very good videos at top quality. I haven't tried a compressed speed yet so can't speak to that. The audio is suffering where there may be multiple sources of noise. It will pick up everything and adjust the volume. If something in the background is distracting, it will effect the quality and level of sound from your subject. The remote access via smart phone app is pretty 'iffy'. All in all, it seems a good choice for the cost.

I bought this for my sons graduation which hasn't happen yet but still for it. Every body says you could use your cell phone. I don't use my cell phone for anything but calls. About this camera, it is awesome except none of the apps work worth a fudge. If you want to use it like a 2000 yr camcorder then its for you. If you want all of the trinkets with apps and all, good luck. Love the camera because it weighs a half a pound.

I bought this camera to record a wedding reception in HD. I choose this camera because of the reviews and great price. Camera has great quality and I was really surprised how well the built in mic works! It would pic up the sounds of what I was pointing the camera at drowning out most of the background noise. Thought I would need to buy a directional mic but that was not the case.

Okay so I was in the market for a new camcorder. Not wanting to break the bank I decided to start cheap. This little camcorder has some great features such as WiFi capabilities. Allowing the use of your phone to control it. Decent recording outside in the sunlight. Very simple to use. Pretty much just an automatic camcorder. It gives you some options but the best picture seemed to be in automatic. Other than that it’s not great. Indoors the picture is extremely grainy. It needs light. The more light the better the picture quality. Outside at night was just bad. The zoom is also not very good at all. Focus is very slow and zooming in and out on objects needs to be slow or you will have a blurred picture. I really wanted something that’s better than recording on my phone. Zoom is one thing a phone lacks in. The battery last a good amount of time so that is a plus. The size is nice and small so it’s super easy to drop in your pocket. So if your just looking for a camcorder to record outside during the day of have a nice bright house this camcorder is perfect. It just wasn’t what I wanted. I returned the camcorder and am going up to the Panasonic w-580. I’m hoping it’s more what I’m looking for. Once it arrives I will review it.
