Unboxing and Setup: The setup for this camcorder was easy enough using the included basic user guide. It would have been nice to have the info on where to attach the lens cover in that guide. I had to download the detailed user guide to get that info. I would have liked to see a built-in lens cover with a sliding push button, though. The terminal cover is a little difficult to open but manageable. You do have to open the screen door before the terminal cover will slide far enough over to open. Also the basic guide should better show how to connect the charging cord and adapter. The touch screen comes on and turns of when opened like most camcorders and has a nice interface of icons once you become familiar with them. It has a nice feel to it and works well even for my large fingers. Recording feature is easy to use. You have to select video or photo from the touch screen to switch the recording mode. The video quality is good for a lower end HD camera but the low light sensitivity is only average to low. Battery life is very good, though, with up to five hours depending on usage. The optical zoom is very good. Playback: To playback on TV you have to use a mini HDMI cable or adapter. This should be included since the internal storage and content is not accessible otherwise except by connecting the included USB cable to a computer. The playback quality was good but showed some distortion on the PC screen at times. I didn’t have the mini HDMI adapter do I wasn’t able to playback on a TV. I assume it would look better on a TV than on the PC, though. This model doesn’t seem to include a feature to copy the internal video to the SD card without connecting it to a PC. That’s a real inconvenience. Overall it’s a nice small camcorder that is easy to use and is shock and water resistant with great battery life.

I returned this camera and bought the Canon Vixia HF 80 which is black, not blue, and not waterproof like the W10. the W10 did not have some of the features I wanted like wi-fi connection. Plus the w10 did not fit my hand as well. I did not like the zoom handle as well. The video and pictures the w10 take are every bit as good as the w80 which cost the same amount.

Great to capture memories. Touch screen drives me crazy but getting used to it. so far no problems with the camera.

Loved this camera. My only upset is that it’s so awkward to use if you are a lefty!

Guess I got what I paid for, but was hoping for more. Encountered an internal problem that caused a clicking sound to start showing up in all recordings. Did not get an extended warranty (that one's on me), so now I have to go through the manufacturer. Usually Canon makes a solid product, but am duly unimpressed.
