...What can I say. Look my friends, I have been a video fiend for decades. I have had VHS, S-VHS, Laser Disc, DVD, Blu-Ray and now 4K. I have over a thousand films on all of the aforementioned formats and have enjoyed (and will continue to enjoy) them all. I don't buy films unless I am CERTAIN I will view them a lot more than just "once or twice". Example? I have seen my absolute favorite film, "Kingdom of Heaven" well over 100 times. I have seen my second favorite film, "Quo Vadis" well over 100 times. I have seen all of the "Thin Man" series of films well over 100 times. Musicals such as "Oklahoma" and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers"? Well over 100 times. And the bestest part of it all? They are mine now. And I can watch them whenever I want to. "Captain Marvel" is now a part of my collection of films, which by the way, goes back to the 1920s. I do not buy poop. I buy that which makes me smile, laugh and sometimes..."think". Yup. I like to smile. I like to laugh. And movies are meant to do that. Don't believe me then I suggest you watch the excellent "Sullivan's Travels". Then you will know why. This film, "Captain Marvel" is a fine edition to my life. It's fun. It's silly. It's fun. Did I mention it's "FUN"? Well it is. I highly recommend it. Trust me. I know what I'm doin' when I'm reviewin'.

It's hard for me to talk about a Marvel movie without going into a certain amount of detail, but I will say first that Captain Marvel is not just a great Marvel movie; it's also a great tale about personal empowerment that applies also to a broader spectrum of people than those in the movie alone. Many can relate to this story, about how one person strives to be better no matter what it takes. Carol Danvers, an Air Force test pilot, has been living as a member of the alien Kree culture for some time, with no real memory of her past. In 1995, that all changes as a mission against the shape-shifting Skrulls, the Kree's current adversaries, goes awry and Danvers is captured for vital information. When she escapes, she lands on Earth, and quickly makes the acquaintance of S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Nick Fury and his colleagues as she continues to fight for the truth behind her memory loss. A lot goes on here to fill in some of the blanks on the Marvel Cinematic Universe's backstory, especially concerning Fury, and ties in nicely with Avengers: Infinity War, bridging the gap to the next film. There's a lot here also on Danvers herself--not just about her memory loss and the events that precipitated it, but also her drive and motivation to do better than before, to exceed everyone's expectations of who she should be and what she should be doing. This part of the movie is what resonates so strongly and makes it worth seeing again and again, and the period songs and fashion also help.

Captain Marvel is a great origin story of the most powerful hero we've met to-date in the Marvel universe. When you boil it down it's really about respect, finding oneself, love, friendship, and family. Carol Danvers' life before she received her powers is just as heroic as the one after. I like her, a lot, and love her relationships with her chosen family, her character, and her perfect chemistry buddy relationship with Nick Fury. Carol is a snarky U.S.A.F. pilot who doesn't take guff from anyone, but she will always try and do the right thing and protect those in need. She finds her true strength in this movie, and it's not the only powers she's granted. There are repugnant trolls out there who tried to trash the movie before it came out and decided to hate Brie Larson (who, btw, is terrific in the role), and they haven't give up even though the movie has made $1.2B and was awesome. These angry folks are upset it did well and all seem to broadly be offended by empowered, powerful women, which Captain Marvel is. Don't listen to the trolls, go watch and enjoy! I left the theater feeling uplifted and happy after watching this film with my daughter first, then my son, and I went back a third time just for me! Like Fury, I love Goose the cat (no spoilers!) so much!

This is an excellent and fun filled superhero movie. The writing and characters interactions are superb. Didn’t realize that Larson and Jackson had previously acted on another film together, which would explain their chemistry that shines in their character discussions. There is a lot of subtle humor throughout the movie, especially with Larson’s facial expressions, to include moving her flowing hair aside. The special effects and action scenes are also well paced in balancing character development and keeping the audience engaged. The 1990’s technology and store references are also quite humorous, such as making an AT&T long distance phone call. The main plot revolves around the main character, trying to recall her memories, while hunting down shapeshifting aliens. The mystery and galactic fight takes them to Earth and meeting Nick Fury, with SHIELD. The subplot shows the struggles that women pilots had to overcome to be in the Air Force. Overall a wonderful movie. The extra features are ok, as they are a bit short. When buying the 4K version, the special features are on the Blu-ray disc, no extra features on the 4K disc.

As a consumer of Marvel comics from the 70's to the early 80's, all the MCU is kinda new to me since pretty much all the storylines have been reworked. I kind of remember Carol Danvers being Ms Marvel to differentiate from the male Kree Captain Marvel, who was originally Capt Mar-vell since I think the Captain Marvel name belonged to Shazam who was a character from the Golden age of comics. The movie kinda paid homage to that by naming the Kree scientist played by Annette Benning Mar-vell. But rather than a movie made to cater to femnists like the all female Ghostbusters or Oceans 8, this was done pretty nicely to the point where the MC being female is not the whole point of the movie, but something that is more of an aside and not that important to the plot. Because of that this movie is very entertaining and one of the better recent releases from Marvel/Disney.

Marvel rarely disappoints, and Captain Marvel continues that benchmark of entertaining comic films, the first solo female pic for the Marvel universe. It's a great origin story to Captain Marvel, her rise from the Kree into the superhero she becomes. While it does have its flaws, such as being a bit heavy handed with the "girl power" theme (not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just they lay it on really thick and perhaps overdone, like using a sledgehammer to hang a picture frame) and questionable logic in some minor character decisions/plot setups, but overall it's an entertaining flick that fits in perfectly with the rest of the Marvel gang. A fun film for the whole family, with a marvelous story that is a perfect addition to the MCU and a welcome female feature who takes that role fully by the horns.

First let me say if you are an MCU fan and did not enjoy his movie you are likely still hung up on the idea that the MCU is not following your expectations (ie: not close enough to the comic books), you take things way to seriously, or you just don't like the stars public stand on empowerment of women. This movie was fun, funny at times, fast paced, and so much better than I expected from reviews. It does not take itself too seriously but it still had serious undertones and helped clear up questions from other movies to help tie up loose ends before Endgame. Was it the best MCU movie, No. Is it more than worth watching absolutely. If I had a daughter I would happily watch it over and over with her, and I would be proud if she tuned out like Brie Larson and and/or her MCU character(minus the superpowers obviously).

Ok,being a comic book geek,I am fully away that the original Captain Marvel character now published by DC,was first in Fawcett comics. during the 1960s,Marvel comics took the name over and created an all new character ,a Kree male soldier called Mar-Vell,eventually Carol Danvers inherited his powers and became Ms Marvel and then Captain Marvel. In this movie Marvel, for the first time, did not stick with the source material all the way. In this version of her origin, she doesn't remember her earthly origins and Mar-Vell is a woman (among many other changes ). Somehow it works and works well. Brie Larson is great in the title role and nice to see Samuel l. Jackson as Nick Fury. I'm sure those that are not aware of how much her origin was rewritten will love this movie. As one who did notice,I liked the movie as a whole too.

If you already like the movie, this is a great edition to have. It comes with the 4K Ultra HD Blu Ray as well as the standard Blu Ray. The Steelbook design is well done and looks really cool. Captain Marvel is a really entertaining and empowering movie. It has an interesting story and keeps you engaged. Lots of great action as well as humor. As much as I liked the movie as a whole, I would have been happier with a little more backstory to Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. Carol's youth and trials are mostly kept to short montages that I wish would have been more fleshed out. Partially due to this, there is not a whole lot of character development for the main character. That is my only real gripe though. I really enjoyed it. Overall I would definitely recommend!

I'll keep this review short, as if you wanted to see the movie you've probably already seen it, and if you haven't or don't want to nothing I say is going to change that. Is it the best Marvel movie? No. But it's far from the worst. Marvel movies in general are high quality, and this one's definitely up there. The introduction of several new characters and their back stories are always great in the Marvel universe. Brie Larson is great as Captain Marvel. Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, and the rest of the cast all put on great performances as well. The movie has some great comedic bits and twists that I wasn't expecting. It doesn't break the mold, but it's another great and fun entry for the MCU.

In a long of line of Marvel movies, that have crossed the $1 billion money mark, Captain Marvel fits right in. The movie fills in some of the missing gaps left by Infinity War and is a great Marvel film as well. I don't want to spoil anything, but the first 10 minutes of the movie is pretty confusing. If you continue to watch it, the film it will make sense a few minutes later. Captain Marvel takes place in 1995 and uses 90s rock music to authenticate the story. It is a fun movie, that is why is it so popular. The sarcasm is quite sharp and witty, and is not over used. Grab Captain Marvel, some popcorn and your favorite chair to enjoy this movie for its plot twists and seamless action scenes.

Captain Marvel is a triumph not just of girl power, but of the plain old power of a great movie. The superhero, played by Brie Larson, is the first female character ever to be a female superhero of a Marvel Cinematic Universe film. The film is packed with action, humor, and visual thrills, with an origin story that makes effective use of the franchise's signature formula. Brie Larson shines, quite literally and has good chemistry with Samuel L. Jackson. For those with good home theater systems, this film will be an excellent demo with great sound and if you happen to be running Dolby Atmos, your in for a real treat with the overhead speakers. Highly recommended.

I didn't have the chance to see this film at the cinema, but on Blu-ray it looks great. Captain Marvel is a Kree warrior who has amnesia of another life. Her Earth name is Carol Danvers and is an Air Force test pilot. We get to meet Nick fury as a younger man before the eye patch, and Phil Coulson as a younger SHIELD Agent. Captain Marvel starts off with a conflict with the Skrulls on Earth. They appear to be enemies and invaders at first, but all is not what it seems. Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Annette Benning, Jude Law, Clark Gregg, and Djimon Hounsou all turn in great performances along with the usual Marvel humor and FX.

The first thing I noticed upon opening my Captain Marvel Blu-ray was that the disc was unscratched. I placed the disc in my Blu-ray player, being careful not to touch the surface. It begin to play almost immediately. I watched the entire move, even the post-credit scene. There wasn't a blip, a skip or a pip. It played flawlessly. However, just to be sure, I played all the bonus features and the deleted scenes. Everything worked as expected. Kudos to Best Buy in their careful handling of this almost indestructible piece of technology! It went from the manufacturer to the store to my house fully intact! BTW: It's a great movie!

This episode in the ongoing Marvel Superhero saga has connected more dots that keeps us riveted to the overall story line. As a comic book kid raised in the 50's, I can attest to the strength and necessity of a divertive, non-threatening indulgence that has a high entertainment value. Positive images serve as an inspiration to the imagination that gives us consideration toward what we can do to emulate this behavior in a way we can gauge how, at some point in our lives, we can be a hero to SOMEONE!! That is what allows the comic book genre to thrive as strong as it is right now. We know we need heroes, we just won't admit it.

I was a big fan of Captain Marvel--saw it twice in theaters and really enjoyed it. It's not the best Marvel movie, but it's another worthy addition to the pantheon of films and is far more interesting than many of the 'origin' films. It's also a pretty great origin film for Nick Fury as well. There are some fun (if too short) extras on here--I always like the 'gag' reels and I'm glad Marvel includes them, I just wish they were longer. Also, the short on "Goose" is pretty hilarious as well. The steelbook is well made (as all the MCU steelbooks have been)--highly recommended for any steelbook or MCU collector!

Bought this because I'm a big Marvel fan and of course the cinematic universe. I also loves Steelbooks, and I try purchasing them first especially with Marvel Studios films. Hoping the first 3 Iron Man movies, Thor 1, get Steelbook releases because I believe that's all I currently need as Steelbooks. I don't have a 4K tv or player, mostly bought it for the Steelbook, but it also includes the regular Blu-ray and of course the digital copy which I redeem too. I currently have over 800 movies digitally! Love the artwork, both front, back, inside too. Next will be Endgame, followed by Far From Home!

“Captain Marvel” establishes how she came to be a superhero, as she progresses through the years, and also interesting bits about early “Fury”. I really like the puzzle about her character’s origins, earth or alien, and her powers. If you’ve seen (who hasn’t) the images of her with glowing eyes, the result is not unexpected. Day of issue buy, mine is 4K Blu-Ray; it looks and sounds great. The selection of popular songs in the soundtrack are interesting, in tune with the time she “arrived” on earth. The action is somewhat end-loaded, but I loved it all. I think I’ll go watch it again.
