    NOT BOILED OVER

    Posted .

This is a bit confusing when wanting to change Auto Flash on/off. Also, when doing auto/manual focus changing. But the thing that upset me the most, and it happens with these digital gadgets, is if they get wet, even a tiny bit, they're done. This was sitting on a table in a restaurant and the waiter spilled some water. I immediately wiped the few drops that had gotten on the camera, but even after drying in dessicant, it was a goner. The reason I'm not getting another, is more because it is a bit confusing in changing settings.

Consider this before you don't buy....

The best thing about a compact camera is that the small size makes it more likey you will take the camera with you. Casio's thinnest line of EXIILM cameras cannot be beat when it comes to slim! Even just 2mm thinner than others makes a great difference when it comes to pocket-feel. The EX-S12 is good looking. There is just something about the Exilim Card sized cameras that will make you proud to own one. This is the 2nd Exilim I have purchased. Four years ago I purchased an Exilim S500 which is equally thin to the new EX-S12. My four year old Exilim is still stylish and will make many other four year old compact cameras look silly and outdated. The EX-S12 lacks optical-stability, but its "anti-shake" shutter release mode does offer some comfort and aid. The EX-S12 offers an extra-lighting mode for bringing out details in the "shaded" areas of otherwise high contrast pictures. This is a great feature! I believe it will be most useful in making many of my pictures look more professional. What I don't know is how Casio does it. By 1)simple post-processing or by 2) taking two exposures and using a combination of processing and stitching to accomphish the effect? The 2nd method would be less noisey in the shaded areas. Sure you can post process on a computer many of the built in features (extra-light, make-up...) of the S12, but who has time for that? Noise on this camera is better than my 4-old model. Typically you will not notice noise until 800 ASA (ISO). The 720P HD video is decent. The S12 is a great little camera. In five years you will still be able to use it with pride! Casio is not the first name that comes to most peoples mind, but when recommending small digital cameras I always suggest looking at the Casio Exilim card size models. Metal case + slim + simple sytling = ONE CLASSIC CAMERA. I Highly Recommend you consider the EX-S12 if in the market for a compact camera.

Buy this camera! Especially if you have kids

    Posted .

Long time Canon enthusiast for my SLR cameras, but my husband researched the Casio & picked up the EX-S10 for Mother's Day last year -- Really liked all of its features & especially found the size perfect to tuck in my pocket and capture more candid, on-the-go shots of our daughter Upgraded to EX-S12 to get the HD movie feature, but found the best surprise in the Burst mode speed in new model -- For anyone with young kids who always seem to blink or look away just as you take a shot!Excellent, excellent feature! Did find out at Best Buy store that they no longer stock Casio cameras at all in stores, so BB website is only way to get it from them Will need to get screen protector & larger capacity SDHC memory card -- the HD videos eat up memory pretty quick, so another MyBook Essential Edition drive will be needed for our PC to store all of these great new photos & videos!

    Broken within three months!

    Posted .

We bought this camera because we learned we were expecting. I did tons of research and read this had the quickest shutter for a digital camera. I know how quickly a great moment can pass with kids, and had issues before with my Canon having too long of a delay. This camera arrived and took good pictures with a short delay for about two months. The features all worked great like red-eye reduction, videos, etc. It is little and handy so reaching for it to take a quick shot is easy. And then.... the zoom button stopped functioning. The lens became stuck in one position so I couldn't zoom or focus anymore. I did what I could to get it repaired and was turned away. Therefore we are stuck with a pretty, camera-resembling paperweight.

    This Camera Is Remarkable

    Posted .

I work in Afghanistan and a camera is necessary for my job as an inspector. I need something small enough to fit into my shirt pocket. This camera does that easily. On the face it is about the same dimensions as a stack of 5 or six credit cards. The overall construction is remarkably sturdy. Plastic covering metal. The camera will accommodate either a normal SD card or a SDHD (which I recommend). This is not mentioned in the ads. And finally, the photo quality is amazing. If you go a few extra bucks and purchase a 16GB SDHD card you can take advantage of the camera's movie feature and still retain plenty of room for stills. I liked this camera so much after a few months that I picked up 3 more for immediate family members and recommended it to people I work with in Afghanistan that need the same kind of camera for their jobs. And although there is a raging debate about the value of megapixels - the fact that this camera takes 12 megapixel photos is not to shabby.

    Almost satisfied

I had an exilim before, an older model, and it had been great. This one is great, the only downside is that it takes a long time to display the picture taken and get ready to take another picture. It takes great pictures though. If I had to make the choice again I would probably spend a little more on another camera.

Great camera - if you don't use the flash

    Posted .

This camera is ultra-compact, takes great photos and video (HD 720, AVI - not the usual proprietary MOV format that others use). Loved the 10 frame-per-second burst mode for shooting a sequence of action (usually kids). Also LOVE Casio's "3x" self timer - you set it up, and it takes 3 pictures which greatly improves the odds that you'll get that "perfect" group photo. The only down-side is that when you use/need the flash, there's a split second lag between the time you fully press the button, and when flash fires - which is a huge problem when trying to take pictures of kids (who are constantly in motion).

    Disappointing

    Posted .

Sadly, this camera was extremely disappointing. I will never buy it again and would not recommend it to a friend. I received it as a gift and it broke right after the warranty finished. I can basically toss it into the trash now as it is not worth repairing. Repairs are too expensive. I sent it back to the company to try and repair. I love the convenient small size, but a camera should last. There was little wear. Do not waste your money on this camera. I bought a small Canon in its place and have been very pleased with that purchased. I also do not recommend colors. They look trendy and great, but they scratch off leaving the camera looking old and silver underneath exposed. Avoid attractive looking colors as they stratch.

    Awesome Camera

    Posted .

I love this camera. It takes really good pictures and it is so small/slim. This color is great, too. This camera is perfect for both my husband and I to use. We took it on vacation with us to Disney and we got some great night shots using the Best Shot settings.

Consumer Reports Likes it, I Can't go Wrong

    Posted .

My wife loves the green S12 because it’s cool looking, small, and feels strong. I figured I can’t go wrong with a camera that Consumer Reports rated in the top three subcompacts last November. I was right, and she loves it.

Perfect for the casual picture taker

The camera has all the features I could ask for. The HD video is especially nice since I don't have to buy a camcorder to do what this does.

    Dont buy this camera...

Okay so I got this camera for Christmas and it was great! But then it started freezing, turning off randomly, and it always said there was a Lens Error. So i exchanged it for a different one in January. When i got it it started good but by June it didn't work at all. The buttons didn't work and u couldn't take pictures without it freezing!! So my advice to you is look for a better camera!!!!!!!!!
