I was very excited when I first learned about this microscope as it seemed to have some very nice features. Unfortunately, I had to return it the day I received it because it was a very poor quality of image. The lighting seemed to be problematic as the top light was rather useless and at the higher magnifications the image was not visible. I would absolutely not recommend this microscope, I am instead purchasing a normal compound microscope and will be attaching a camera for the digital ability. Only two out of the five lenses would display a visible image which is extremely displeasing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I received my Pentaview with great excitement, but could not get it to power on. Fortunately, I'm an engineer. I traced the problem to the a/c adapter, which was producing zero output. I waited for the first email response to my service request - a form on their website that required me to create an account, etc. - for 10 full days. That response was predictably useless - did you check the plug, did you have the SD card inserted correctly, bla bla bla. After three weeks, they finally agreed to service it, but insisted on replacing the entire microscope - which would mean having to ship the whole works to them and have nothing to show for my hundreds of dollars spent for who knows how long - not just the adapter. I found my own replacement adapter instead, so after two months and NO help from their 1970s-style customer support, I finally have a working microscope. Interesting to note that they considered the issue "closed" after their first reply, in spite of the fact that I didn't have a usable product for another month and a half, and even then it was without their help. Beware Celestron. I will never, EVER give them my money again. You might as well mail a cheque to the moon.
