    Works...

After stuggling with the setup portion of this to connect to the home network everything worked as it was supposed to except for 2 times in the past 3 months. The first time the garage was open and the app on the phone stated it was closed. I could not get it to work remotely and had to reset the hub. The second time similar where it was closed by app stated it was open. I've read it has to do with latency between hub and router so I am going to try to see what the signal strength is and see if I can tweak to correct. Can't afford not to have the control function if I am away and I need to let someone in the garage or if someone left the garage open. The reason for buying the gadget. If it wasn't for the challenges setting up and the two connection problems in the short period of time I would have given 5 stars because it does work even the rules are handy for alerts .

Some good and some bad with this unit

Initial installation of the unit was easy. The app worked well on my iPhone. The app does a good job of notifying me when my garage door opens and if it is open or closed. The app does not allow me to control the door with any degree of consistency. I frequently get the "No Response House Garage Opener is not responding. Please try again." To get it to control the door seems to require me to reset the unit. Very frustrating.

My favorite IoT Product so far

This little thing has consistently impressed me. It’s not close to my router but has only dropped off the network 2 or 3 times in several years. And for being relatively inexpensive, this has ironically been more valuable than almost any other product I’ve purchased. It’s saved me when I’ve been locked out of the house multiple times. It saved my dog three times when the garage door didn’t stay closed I had no idea and was headed across town... An identical unit I purchased for my elderly Mother let’s me know via notification every morning that she’s gotten up and gone out to get the paper and walk her dog; as someone who prefers not to be forced to speak for as long as possible in the morning this has been a Godsend! And finally, in October when I had my garage broken into in the middle of the night, my phone told me a split second before my Doberman did... and the combination of a ghost garage door closing and Mango's where did that come from impersonation of the Hound of Baskerville from the warm side of my utility door meant that the lousy jerks dropped almost every tool they tried to carry off as they ran in terror from my garage- the last one getting clotheslined by my little garage gremlin as he lowered the door for me! On top of that, getting voice control with Google Assistant took about 45 seconds and suddenly and unexpectedly I had the ability to let people in from upstairs without even needing the app on the iPhone. Alexa still can’t do it, after a few hours of my time. I also really love having a record of time open and closed- and FYI I solved the occasional issue I was having where my garage would close all the way but after a brief pause on occasion open- I live a long block off a very busy road and my garage is the last unit in a complex - so it wasn’t hard for me to barely miss that occurrence by turning to pay attention to traffic - and as I mentioned the woman of the house is a really smart Doberman who was quite happy to go exploring... I created a custom alert that rather than just text me “Garage is Still Open” which I do have it do after 30minutes... I used the same alert but changed the parameters and message so I get a notification “Garage is still closed, “ about 5 minutes after the fact. That way before I get to the freeway I know if I need to make a upturn... After the second time it happened, Mango was just sitting in the garage looking at me driving up. She hates to be in trouble. Lol Another thing I really love is that it was easy to use IFTT to give me subtle hints that my door has opened or closed in case I didn’t hear it.

Great iPhone Garage Door Opener (and more)

Love this product. I can use my phone to open the garage door. Even better, we can easily see on the phone when the door is open (and closed), and for how long. Can even see alerts when the door is opened (provides a greater level of security when on vacation). Works great whether on wifi or cell data. Installation was pretty straightforward. Your garage door opener needs to support intellicode (which all but the older versions should support). You'll also need to be sure that your wifi reaches into the garage.

This was easy to install. Having the notices come to you as a text or email that your garage door is open is nice to have. Just push a button and the garage door closes. It already saved me once. That was worth the price right there.

It really works. Either with iphone or with android...wish would work with windows phone. While away on vacation we could check if door was closed and you can also open or close from wherever you are as long as you have data/wi-fi.

My husband and I love this garage door controller. I can still use my remote control. But, I have this when I don't have my regular car. AND when I'm not home I can check to see if my kids closed the garage door! And when I'm away I can double check to make sure I closed the garage door. I can even close it remotely if I did forget. Also, I set it up to send me alerts when the garage door opens or closes. I can't say enough good things about this remote garage door controller.

Unreliable - Terrible Support - DO NOT BUY

I am electrical and computer engineer and was very excited to use this product. After three months of being disappointed, I returned it. Three of my friends have the same issue, they are unable to open or close the garage door from the app 90% of the time. I was locked outside of my garage since I decided to purchase this item instead of a replacement garage door opener. In theory it was a great idea but this item needs much more developing. Emailed support and they were not helpful. They suggested I re-install or update the app. No further troubleshooting done and I was left hanging after that. I have created my own solution with a WEMO Maker and a magnetic switch. The wemo maker works 100% of the times and took me 10 minutes to install. Not only do you gain reliability but it's also $40 less!! The magnetic sensor is optional but can be set up to send you alerts like the original MyQ setup if combined with IFTTT. The instructions and install were easy for this system. You must make sure you have a good wifi signal in your garage. It integrates well with my Xfinity home system and app so I don't use the Chamberlain app often. My wife likes it because she gets a message when the kids get home from school because they go in through the garage. My only complaint is that on occasion when I go the my Xfinity home app it doesn't show the garage door information, it says it's not available. Usually I close the app and open again and it's there, could be Xfinity problem too.

The product is great and lets you open your garage door from your smartphone, and it works very well. I even purchased a 2nd door sensor, so now both of my garage doors can be opened or closed remotely. My only issue is that Chamberlain routinely promised free Apple's HomeKit compatibility, but they just released a new $50 add-on in order to gain Apple HomeKit and Siri use, which means -one star for poor customer commitment.

Im pretty pleased with this product. The only downside is, if your internet signal drops sometimes it take a while for the opener to reconnect to your WiFi. Its worth the price. It takes my door about 9 seconds to begin closing via the app. And it opens as soon as i hit the open button. I dont have problems with false openings as i have mines password protected before it opens. I would recommend.

I was looking for somthing simple to install and that would alert me when the door is open or closed. It even lets me know when the door remained opened for more than 30 minutes. It took me 10 minutes to install with all the tools available. The connection to my Wifi was very simple. I bought this because my my soon is the last one to leave the house and In a coold morning control outside does not work and I can now verify if he closed it or I can close it for him from work without having to go back to the house.

I bought this thinking it would work. Well, it only works half the time. It seems to become disconnected from the wifi a lot and then you have to go through the whole setup again. When it does work, it's a great product.

This was very simple to install. Remove any doubt as to whether you closed your garage door or not. It sends alerts to your smartphone the moment the garage door has been opened and when it closes. Also records the duration that it has been open or closed. I paired mine with a Dropcam to view activity within the garage when it's open. The MyQ app allows you to control both products (MyQ and Dropcam / Nestcam). I hope to add the Nest thermostat in the near future to fully control my residence while away.

Simple to install and link to router. Works well and it sends me a text every time the door is operated. Nice to be able to check to see if I closed the garage door. Also works well when I'm in someone else's car and I can open the door with my iPhone!

I have really like having the piece of mind to get notifications if I left home and left the garage open. Never have to wonder if I actually closed the door. Being able to open or close the garage through the app has been handy when my normal garage remote was not working. Setup was fairly easy and straight forward.

I am amazed by how easy the installation was. I have an Apple Time Capsule and Airport extended wifi network. It has wifi protection including WPA2 and MAC filtering. Just followed the instructions provided, and it set itself up without ever having to mess with my router settings. Pretty slick. Not only can you check to see if your door is open or closed, but you can also set alerts on your mobile device if it is opened during set time periods. Likewise, you can program it to alert you if it stays open for a set period of time. If you are concerned about someone breaking into your garage and loading up your stuff, this device can bring peace of mind through its flexible features. My one minor complaint is that the device beeps when you close the door remotely. It's pretty loud and annoying, and there is no volume control. But that is just a safety precaution so no one gets hurt. Not a big deal.
