The movie was on sale, perhaps for others but I did not care for the slow pace or lack luster plot

I love the actors and actress and thought it would be a nice movie. NOT!!

The story is well-told, exciting and well-acted – it recounts the 1979-1989 events in Afghanistan that eventually obstructed the Soviet incursion into that country. As an “after-thought:” To a degree it’s a story of “excess” that won the war but the “end-game” was not well- played which resulted in an another adventure into that region 2004-2014 which is still being played out as of the date of this writing.

This movie is really well done. Most political movies tend to lean one way or the other. That can be due to the actors or the director. However, this movie captures and focuses on the facts. Tom Hanks and Philip Hoffman work well together. Highly recommend this movie to anyone, above the age of 17 of course. It is rated "R".

This is an excellent film. There is humor, a decent plot line, and a lot of politics, if you're into that sort of thing. Honestly though, while I am a devout Tom Hanks fan, I really think that Seymour-Hoffman's character makes this film what it is. Very well done all around.

this is a real story about a guy who helped get congress to raise the money to buy the weapons for the Afghanistan's to beat the Russians. it's so cool.Hanks is great and Roberts looks great.

Usually a political movie can be somewhat stale at times but this movie keeps on the fast track with humor and quit wit. Philip Seymour Hoffman's performance is his best to date.

Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Phillip Seymore Hoffman. You'd expect it to be good and it doesn't disappoint. A marvelous movie and one to ponder over after the fact.

good movie, the actors and actress are very good . But I would say the movie is really just average

Anyone who likes movies based on actual events would like this movie. Great story line and great acting.
