CHEF is good in many levels: I LOVE delicious FOOD! Plus- many great actors/actresses are in this movie. Plus- I met ROBERT DOWNEY on red eye LAX-JFK Flight in 1990s and talked 1-on-1 in terminal after flight; met colombian JOHN LEGUIZAMO who also is my ex-wife's cousin! Met Him in NYC February 2002, backstage. Have pic with him. These 2 men are nice, friendly, and great. And I used to live in Colombia, and the CROMOS magazine I am in, colombian Sophia vergara on next page from me! Almost met Dustin Hoffman met once at lax, excellent actor. And love the others like Scarlett Johansson! So, Since I am honorary COLOMBIAN and lived there and was actor on telenovelas there, taught at university, and was model there, And I met 2 which one is my distant relative!, you can see why I love this movie and why I bought this movie. And it's not really R rated, shouldn't be, as a family could watch it. It's funny stuff. Something to take your mind off of everyday problems and world situations. Watch and enjoy! Bravo, Jon favreau!, your movies keep getting better! Happy holidays, everyone! Buy this DVD as a Christmas present! And this is now added to my 18,000 DVDs/blurays and 945 laserdiscs and over 100 3-D discs ! I LOVE MOVIES AND I LOVE BEST BUY! Great places and excellent employees! Thanks, best buy! Love ya!

Chef was a nice surprise. It is a great story about redemption, hope, love, friendship, family. It has a wonderful cast of characters, its funny and heartfelt..the scenes and locations take you to parts of the country and see them from a different perspective miami, new orleans, austin and los angeles. The food they show and talk about makes you want to eat or cook. The soundtrack is so good and fits the movie scenes so welll and to top it off a full circle conclusion for the characters i dont want to give it away. You should watch this for your next movie night. I watched with friends and had my young adult son and other friends watch it and they liked it too. Definitely one of my favorite movies!

One The Best Films of 2014

Perhaps I'm biased having worked in kitchens for many years, but this is really an outstanding picture. What it really boils down to, besides a touching father/son story, is about staying true to your art; what really moves you. This film could easily be seen as a parable to writer/director Jon Favreau's own career as a filmmaker - starting out making personal independent features and then crossing over into generic, crowd-pleasing Hollywood blockbusters. P.S. Extra brownie points to Favreau for featuring Frenchman St. in New Orleans and letting audiences know that Bourbon St. is for tourists, while the Marigny is where its at!

This isn't you're cooking challenge show - it's a thoughtful, delightful story that inspires and takes you on a journey across the states in a food truck. I don't want to spoil it for you. Read the film's synopsis. Jon Favreau is magical and talented both as a star and director. There are so many treats (no pun intended) in this film, you get to see some of Jon's friends - also talented stars... most likely humbled to be in the film with Jon. It shows with everyone's top-notch performances.

On my off time, I enjoy watching Food Network, so when I heard a movie about cooking was coming out, I was intrigued. I had my doubts if Chef would be any good, but gave it a shot since I am a foodie and am a fan of Jon Favreau's work. I was blown away by this movie. Great cast, great story, one of the best movies this year! I highly recommend this movie to anyone. Even if you are not a foodie, the story will keep you interested. Please give Chef a chance and you will love it!

Chef was easily one of my favorite movies from this past summer. The whole movie was hilarious... Very cool father / son bonding story combined with a man rediscovering his passion in life... the food looks so delicious that combined with the passion of the main character, it makes you want to drop everything, go to culinary school and become a chef... or at the very least find a high end food truck and eat a Cuban sandwich... The acting and directing were also both pretty incredible...

so i settled on four stars. while the movie itself as a foodie-flick goes, it is fantastically awesome (seriously, right up there with eat drink man woman, jiro dreams of sushi, and ratatouile). the disc content's are lackluster at best. about a handful of deleted scenes and the standard director's commentary. no featurettes, no trivia, no sprinkles, no bells an whistles.but back to the movie: the colors are richly rendered and the detail in the food is mouth watering, the texture of the meat and the glistening of the food are all beautifully detailed and one would be hard-pressed to not catch himself watering at the mouth while watching this. one of the great food films of all time, which is why i desired a much better presentation of special-features.

This movie is definitely one of my faves. It's super funny, the actors all do a great job together. Normally movies that Sofia Vegara are in turn me off lol, but she's tolerable in this movie. This movie also has to do with food. I love all the cooking scenes, and the fact that he starts his own food truck business and becomes successful after hitting a rut in his life. I have already recommended this movie to everyone I know.

Just a warning, eat before you watch this movie. This movie has made so many stomachs grumble. The premise to this movie is we have a chef played by John Favreau and he finds himself in a creative rut as he gets a not so great review from a well-known critic. From the advice of his ex-wife, he decides to take his son cross country with a food truck and find his creativity once again. With the great cast and direction, this movie has become one of my favorite movies this year. One of my favorite things about this story is it doesn't follow the usual drama tropes. The conflict that happens throughout the movie while other movies would focus on it for 15 minutes, this movie flies by it. Also the scenes with the food are just so great.

The most purely entertaining film of 2014. All smiles. Lots of genuine heart. Great performances. Scrumptious food photography. The rare sentimental flick that really works for me. Forever Jon Favreau POWER. Bobby Cannavale is a riot, same with John Leguizamo. RDJ has a killer cameo, truly one of the funniest bits of the year. This movie also somehow makes Sofia Veraga tolerable! Seriously though...a cozy little gem of a movie that reminds you of the simpler times.

I purchased the Blu Ray of Chef which included the digital copy via Ultraviolet. I streamed the digital copy and was impressed with the clarity of the video stream. The film itself is wonderful. It is a funny and heart warming movie following a Chef who discovers the beauty of his artistry and the love of his child. I highly recommend the film.

I intended to see this in theaters, but never got the chance. I saw it on Blu Ray on sale for $13 and decided to pick it up... Turned out to be a great decision because I LOVED it! Favreau turns out an awesome film with a great cast and story. I HIGHLY recommend this movie to anyone, it's emotional, comedic, and entertaining throughout.

I've always enjoyed Faverau as a director, and had not heard of this movie before seeing it in stores. The best way to describe this movie is Comfy. I would highly recommend making some comfort food to eat while watching this movie, as the gorgeous cooking scenes and food prep will make you hungry. Fantastic movie to watch with your family.

what do you do when you're a top chef in a prestigious restaurant, but feel your creativity is being stifled by the owner? you get fired, of course - and get on the road with a food truck! A great movie about family, friends and the fact that it's never to late to turn a new page and move forward with your life.

If you love food, this movie will make you extremely hungry. While the story is charming and the characters are endearing, I personally can't get over how amazingly delicious every single dish in this film looks. You can watch it right after eating a big meal yet still feel hungry after watching it.

I've seen about a couple of dozen films this year, and this is my personal favorite. It isn't flashy or showy, but it is warm and fun. It's a movie about family, personal growth, and finding yourself and the journey the main character takes is a lot of fun. One thing, though, this film will make you very, very hungry.

Chef is an excellent, feel good movie. There's something very understated and real about it, whether you're a foodie, an artist, or not. And the food presented in the film is mouth watering. I can't recommend this movie enough. The bluray quality is excellent.
