Easy to use and has shortcut buttons for Netflix and YouTube. If the volume up/down on the side doesn't work with your TV/monitor, you can change the settings to control the Chromecast volume instead. Even if you lose the remote, you can still control it through the Google Home app on your phone. I have two of these, and at under $50, it's a good deal. The picture quality is great, and I can still cast from my phone for music or streaming.

I've been using this for years and it's great but I was able to convince my mom to cut the cord and make the switch. Like a lot of people she doesn't always feel comfortable making big changes with technology. Finally, she decided to let us give it a go. She has been very pleased with how easy the switch has been. We have her subscribed to YouTube TV and she has Paramount and HBO accounts and it was very easy to load her apps and arrange them to be at the front of the home page. She really likes the interface and the ability to put her favorite shows on watch lists so that they appear on the front as well and in the library. Overall, it's been a very smooth transition for someone who was very nervous about cutting the cord. The local cable company finally pushed the bill high enough to give it a go. The remote is easy to use and she loves the ability to push a button and tell her TV remote. What to do like find a certain show or turn the TV off or on.

As an owner of Roku, FireTV, nVidea Shield, and Xbox 1s, which are all good devices, the new Chromecast with Google TV is a great streaming device. It setup easy, has all the apps I need and is FAST. The Google TV interface is slick and integrates my Youtube TV right into the user interface with my live TV guide.
The remote is small and a little slippery but works very well. I added a USB hub which allows me to use my ethernet and add memory. Its herd to tell the difference now from my nVidea Shield.
Yoy get a great streaming device for the $49 and the ability to cast apps from my phone or tablet. Actually 2 devices in one.
Its new so a few apps aren't fully optomized but I'm sure future updates will remedy that.
I highly recommend this device.

this product is fabulous and very fast, I bought it because it was available on my other tv and I really liked it . pros is it is easy to set up and clean cache, it has access to the google play store, the interface is very good, very easy to use, cons are the remote is flimsy and cheap and one channel I cannot get access to so I still have to use a firestick for ID go but other than that I am very happy with it

Can't beat the cost to benefit ratio this product provides and being able to Chromecast when needed is a great touch. The set up process is seamless as long as you have a google account ready to sync up.
Having a physical remote and the new Google TV interface has really brought the Chromecast to another level. You can get multiple of these for the price of one Apple TV. If you are not locked in to only Apple products I highly recommend getting this Chromecast with Google TV.

Excellent upgrade from previous Chromecast dongles. The remote is a huge improvement, and the Google TV interface is terrific. This is especially helpful for those of us who have TVs with the Roku OS which still does not have an HBO Max app. Using the new Chromecast with remote to stream HBO Max is a much better experience than just using the phone. I would like to get the Ethernet power-plug adapter, but thus far it's only on the Google Store. I hope Best Buy will offer it soon, I would prefer to buy it at Best Buy than Google.

Bought this on a whim since i liked the original chrome cast so much. I must say i am impressed by the ui and the ease of use. Unfortunately even my kids have figured out how to use it.
I love the fact that it brings all your streaming accounts to one place so you don't have to go in to each app on your tv and scroll through until you find what you want to watch. Voice command works pretty well but i don't usually need to use it. Would buy it again and considering it for another TV in the house.

the best streaming device I have ever had, it shows me all of my stuff at the main menu. It recommends from almost everywhere so if u see a movie on Hulu or Netflix or whatever it can recommend it on the main screen. The voice control is a fantastic little bit expensive but it does display in 4k 60fps so def worth it even if u have a 1080p screen and u want to upgrade in the future
The remote is great but doesn't have a pause button so u have to hit the select button

This is definitely a great update to the old chromecast. I like the interface as it consolidates all my streaming services. The remote is a great addition and syncs up to the TV and soundbar (The setup was really easy). Addition of the voice button is helpful in searching for content and it also connects to google home to control smart home devices. My only CON would be the design of the remote, its small and can get lost easily. Wish they had a find the remote functionality built in for the next upgrade.

This Chromecast is great. The remote is easy to use and the interface is simple and well laid out.
I specifically bought this for my dad so he could watch YouTube on his TV.
This is more than perfect for that.
All the usual steaming services work well. Netflix and HBO Max worked great.
I also played around with casting my MacBook to the TV using Chrome. It worked perfect with little to no lag.
I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a streaming stick. At $50, it’s a terrific value.

This is what the original chromecast should have been. I love that it has an interface and you can add apps to stream from. You don't have to use your phone or tablet. But that option is still available if you need it. I wish it included more internal storage or the ability to add an Micro SD card to increase memory. This a good streaming device that can do 4K tv streaming. Also It needs an sign in option for multiple users. This way different users would have access to their own content and recommendations.

This is a great competitor to the other streaming devices you can buy on the market. For the longest time, Google had not included a remote to control their Chromecast, but now they have! If you have a Google account and use Google Photos, this is almost worth it alone because you view your pics, videos, and creations on the big screen. This device also supports 4K resolution and does great with voice commands, with greater versatility than some of their competitors.

Worthy Upgrade from the Ultra, but just barely

This replaced my old chromecast ultra, so this review will focus on comparing these two devices.
Pros:
The remote is actually very nice to have, interface is intuitive, responsive, and good at recommending content across a range of services. You can also use it's assistant button to control other devices in your connected home.
Being able to watch my TV and listen with Bluetooth headphones is game-changing. That's the main reason I decided to upgrade.
Cons:
WiFi connection is not as strong or reliable. On my old chromecast ultra, I almost never had to suffer through anything less than FHD while streaming, and usually had no issues with 4K streaming either. With this chromecast, I frequently find the streaming quality to be less than HD, although sometimes it is capable of stabbing 4K content too. I can only attribute this to a weaker WiFi connection.
There is noticable audio lag and sometimes stutter when playing back through Bluetooth headphones. Sometimes it works okay, but often it's so bad that using Bluetooth headphones is not really a practical option.
This chromecast has wayyy more issues when casting from my phone the 'traditional' way, than the ultra did. I almost always have to cast twice before a connection is actually established. And playback controls on your phone don't show up when playing content initiated from the remote. Only for content that you casted the traditional way.
Overall, the convenience of the remote outweighs the drawbacks for me, and I'm happy to keep using this one instead of my ultra. But I do with Google would just make a no-compromises chromecast. The building blocks are all there, just put everything in one package...

This is my favorite streaming device to date. It handles 4k material with ease and supports most current video and audio formats. We having been replacing our 4k fire sticks with these as the run so much better. Virtually no lag and the hardware runs smoothly. The remote is also nice and allows you to program a separate audio device like a sound bar. Highly recommend.

Google finally figured it out after half dozen years how to make chrome cast better. Add an interface and a remote.
My Samsung NU8000 does the job pretty well however I still wanted a Chromecast for Google Photos and Atmos support which my TV natively doesn't support but my sound system does.
What I received in return was more than that. Google TV interface added an entire new dimension to the way I browse TV. I didn't I missed having a good recommendation list and interface. It answers the biggest question we face with modern age TV - "WHAT TO WATCH?". The suggestions are on point and 9/10 times perfect. I didn't know I had access to so many good movies & shows. Just log into all your services and google tv does the job. Ambient display mode is kickass.
Remote is sweet. It works as remote for my sound system, tv & Chromecast itself. I'm not a big fan of volume button on the side of the remote but not a deal breaker. Google assistant mic button is helpful. Took me couple of tries get used to remote because I was using my TV remote to switch on tv and then using Chromecast. But Chromecast wouldn't turn on when I switch on tv and upon using power button on Chromecast, it switches off tv. Eventually I figured, I don't need to use TV remote at all and if I'm switching from my Xbox to tv then I just need to press home button on Chromecast remote.
Chromecast tv as of now doesn't work to access Samsung tv menu though. If that functionality is somehow added then I wouldn't need tv remote at all. Samsung One tv remote however works on chromecast but of courses then I miss google assistant mic button.

**Google Chromecast Review**
Google Chromecast is a simple, affordable way to turn any TV into a smart one. It’s super easy to set up—just plug it into your TV’s HDMI port and cast from your phone, tablet, or laptop. It works with tons of apps like YouTube, Netflix, and Spotify, and you can even control it with Google Assistant. Perfect for streaming without the fuss, though it lacks a remote or built-in interface.

Nice upgrade from the older chromecast devices. 4K is nice and having an actual user interface is also pretty nice. Being able to install app on device without needing a phone all the time is a great addition.
However this speed/smooth operation of this device is a major drawback. It sometimes hangs and get stuck on certain apps and would need to be reset every once in a while.
I wish google would make a larger set top box one day with higher storage or with a storage expansion option. Also a faster SoC would be nice to speed things up.

I love this thing. Purchased a normal chromecast and hated that it did not have a remote and everything had to stream from my phone. With this, everything was fixed. It has its own UI and remote. I take this when I'm traveling to plug and play at hotel rooms. Quality is always amazing. I set up profiles for my children so they can easily get to the shows they want to watch and of course is parental controlled.

I was very reluctant to purchase this Chromecast due to some low reviews and because I already have a Roku TCL Television which has great listings of streaming service providers. I thought to myself that there really wasn't a need to invest in another streaming device...BUT WOW... I'M SO GLAD I TOOK A CHANCE.
This new Chromecast with Google TV is awesome. It has a clean interface plus the Google Play store for Android TV. Because I already had an old Chromecast device 2nd generation, again, at first I didn't think this new Chromecast with Google TV would be anything different or special but it's truly a big difference between the two.
Also, I wanted a better remote control and experimented with different universal remotes and discovered that a Fire TV Voice remote control latest generation works perfectly and flawlessly with this Chromecast with Google TV device. I kid you not. I purchased a Phillips Universal Companion Remote that you can attach a Fire TV Remote on the back of it and WHOLA...This duo remote combo now controls my TCL Roku TV and my Chromecast with Google TV !
Over all, I must say that I am very pleased with this device and I highly recommend it. Now instead of relying on my regular Roku interface, I now utilize the Chromecast with Google TV interface...THANKS AND ENJOY !
