I usually don’t right reviews but here it goes. The device is not hard to setup. Installing apps is a breeze and installing 3rd party apps are also pretty easy to do which I added a browser to the device. I bought usb - c adapter with Ethernet online and this device recognized it right away. Now I have mini keyboard mouse combo with usb drive and Ethernet running way faster and without hiccups in the two days I had this mini box. Vpn works out of the box and most of those codecs folks are complaining about the device has i am sure it is a matter of a little time to have them working on Vudu and other apps folks it just been out a couple of days. The 4K does not flicker like tivo stream 4K. If you have both on tivo stream disable HDMI CEC and that flickering should does that I both of my Vizio 4K TVs. On this device I can have it on and control sound bar and turn of tv without an issue.

This is the second I've purchased. The first was to add Atmos to the streaming apps on a slightly older TV. The second was to add streaming apps to a much older TV. If you only plan to use a couple of streaming apps (e.g. Netflix), this is fine. If you plan to do anything more complicated, you'll run into problems. You can connect a hub, and thus add things like secondary storage, but the problem is that the OS doesn't want to let you move most streaming apps to secondary storage. Almost everything will have to go on internal storage, which means that 8GB will get used up very quickly. You can theoretically do things like stream games, connect a camera and do video conferencing, but in practice, you will have to be very selective about extra features like that given the very limited 8GB of internal storage and the limitations of the operating system. However, as long as your needs are basic, and you just want to be able to stream HDR, Dolby Vision, Atmos, etc., to an older TV, this is simple, easy, and reliable.

So much more than the original Chromecast. Nice interface, can use it without your phone/tablet/computer. Adding Apps from the Play Store is nice. Not sure how long the storage will hold out adding a lot of apps. Remote controls the Chromecast and TV.

This Chromecast is far better than any other than any other streaming video device, is fast, reliable, has a great picture and you can control your tv. The setup is super easy and configures your remote automatically. I definitely recommend this one.

The main reason I bought this was so I could cast to my TV what I was seeing in my Oculus Quest 2 VR headset, but now that I've seen what else it can do it's become one of favorite gadgets. Great price, easy setup, easy to use. Highly recommended.

This one is much easier to use than the first two iterations. The included remote is very intuitive and convenient. The recommendations are on point and the UI is easy to navigate. Nice app integration as well. Would definitely recommend.

What's great about Google Chrome casts is the flexibility of not needing a remote and you can control from any mobile smart device. However, having this remote with the 4K Chromecast is great! This upgrade from the older generation gives you a nice splash page, the option to toggle to Google Live TV, and integrates with your subscriptions on your mobile device. Everything is consolidated!

LOVING IT!!! Let me start by saying I purchased the previous model 1 week before this was released and was disappointed I had to use my phone as the remote and that you could not download apps. As soon as this was released I immediately took exchanged for it and couldn't be happier. Not only do you have the casting funtionality but you can download apps, games, and the biggest plus is the remote. Our smart tv doesn't have access to all the new apps out there (HBO Max) but having this makes up for it. We have all of our initial apps on the Smart TV plus more. The remote also has voice command and can control our soundbar as well as the tv itself which is huge if you want to limit having multiple remotes. So if you want to upgrade your tv viewing without having to buy a whole new tv, look no further than Chromecast with Google TV. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Love having a Youtube button on the remote since it is the platform I use most. The buttons can be a little sensitive but the interface is seamless. I love the ease of casting from my phones TV app.

I subscribe to five on-demand services but the interface still seems to serve so much content from paid services I don’t use, as well as titles I can buy or rent from Google. The Google TV iPhone app allows you to toggle on “free” on your watchlist, to inly show content that is free to watch or is on one of your subscribed services. This foesnt have that option and it’s disappointing. However its super snappy and easy to use. Love being able to see details and related content regardless of what service the content is on. Really like the voice search too! It would be a plus if this coupd be powered by thr USB on the TV instead of requiring a wall plug.

      Posted .

Hello there, Jordan. Thanks for the feedback. We’re glad that you find it with ease of use, and that you like some of its features. We’re sorry to learn you’re having issues with your on-demand service. We also hear your concern about having the ability to power the device through the TV USB port instead of a wall plug. We’d be happy to share this with the right team for future improvements.

Meanwhile, Five On-demand is not on the list of partner apps for Chromecast with Google TV. And although you can mirror your Android device to your TV over Chromecast while watching the app, Chromecasts don’t support screen mirroring for iOS devices. There are more than 10,000 partner apps that you can use on Google TV. You can visit tv.google to view which apps are available, and learn how to install the apps here:https://support.google.com/googletv/answer/100505700

This new Chromecast with "Google Tv" is what I really expected from Google years ago. The interface is excellent, especially for those with Youtube TV subscriptions, for consuming any and all media at this point. Can sync with almost any app or service you can possibly sign up for, and displays it in a meaningful way for you to find new and interesting content. I did have issues with the first one I purchased, the remote would never sync and it just ended up in a endless loop of not functioning, but the replacement has been awesome. Powerful enough to provide nearly immediate response from the remote, voice assistant works fantastic, and provide dolby vision/dolby atmos support.

I purchased an LG OLED65B6P back in 2016 and it has served me well with firmware updates keeping the picture quality on par with the higher end OLEDs being sold today. Unfortunately the software and processing lags behind today's standards and many apps were no longer available or beings supported. Instead of buying a new TV, I purchased this $50 device and now have access to my favorite apps powered by Google TV's excellent interface. Now I can continue to enjoy my TV for years to come

Faster, smarter, friendlier, and very easy to set up. The only flaw is that i have not found a internet browser app on the modified playstore, other than a paid one. If google can add mozilla this would make me smile even more. Streaming has never been faster and more high quality till this google tv git here. I have had all of amazons streaming devices this leases them in the dust. 4k everything Ok google open ANYTHING even that work and its fast, netflix is almost open at the snap of a finger. Love this device. APKS , GAMES and i cant wait for stadia updates, I wish i had one of these in all my rooms

This Chromecast is very nice, the interface is smooth and speedy. Setup is a snap. Now for what's not so good, when you first start up the Chromecast is is automatically is set to Dolby Vision HDR. Everything looks over saturated and very bright. You will have to chang a setting for this to match the content viewing. Another thing about HDR (Dolby Vision and HDR10) If you are watching a show/movie that is shot very dark, it looks so dark on the screen that you can't make out features of faces or things in the background, it's almost like there blended together. I've changed picture settings and turned up the backlighting all the way, and it's still to dark. When I stream the same content on the same app that is built in to my smart tv, it is dark but not to dark, face and the background don't blend together, Other than those two complaints it would have gotten 5 stars. On a Roku you can switch the display setting so HDR can be turned off if somthing doesn't look good or the picture is to dark.
