The Chromecast with Google TV (HD) - Snow is such a solid pick if you're after a streaming device that does it all without emptying your wallet. It’s small, super easy to set up, and looks pretty slick in that “Snow” color. It’s simple but just feels... right. The Google TV interface is a breeze to use—just switch between Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, and all that with no fuss. Plus, the personalized recommendations are actually useful; it’s like they know what you’re in the mood for. The remote is compact and comfy, with dedicated buttons for Netflix and YouTube, and the Google Assistant button means you can just say what you want to watch and it pulls it up, which is pretty convenient (and surprisingly accurate). Sure, there’s no 4K, but honestly, the HD looks great—perfect for bedroom TVs or when 4K isn’t a big deal. It runs smoothly, barely lags, and Google’s updates have kept it on point. Bottom line: if you need a solid, budget-friendly streaming device that just works, this Chromecast is where it’s at.

The Chromecast with Goggle TV is an easy device to like, installation is easy and the Chromecast and remote are obviously well designed. Installation is easy, which is basically plugging the system into the TV HDMI and powering up then setting up phone Chrome app and initializing the Chromecast system which included a lengthy software update. I had to switch to manual install after few attempts when the system could not sync to my Wi-Fi router. The only extra step for installing software manually was entering Wi-Fi password, easy enough. Google has the device thought out well and it shows, from the installation to the ease of use while streaming. Have many streaming services and all are supported by the Google chrome. System use is straight forward and intuitive. Google Assistant works well and is responsive, from searching and playing trailer to watching movie play is effortless. The remote is similar in size to other streaming devices and is comfortable in the hand. It is minimalist in an elegant design which provides full control. A top streaming device remote. Like the full 1080 HDR 4K Resolution with Dolby Vision and Atmos technologies. Makes for a great viewing experience. What I really like about the system is that works with my PC monitor in my garage where I can stream shows, movies, and sports. The Home page shows movies and shows from all my installed apps in one central screen, convenient. Bottom-line, Chromecast is highly responsive with fast streaming and comes with intuitive system controls which also allows you to monitor and control your Home devices, lights, thermostats and Nest Cameras from the comfort of your couch, or in my case the garage.

This Google Chromecast and TV replaces the long service of the original Google Chromecast that I use in my garage TV years ago. I have two of the 4K versions, so this Chromecast and TV has the identical design to its predecessor but not in 4K; it is in HD ONLY! This budget version offers the same great features as the 4K, except for the locked resolution to full HD (1080p) with HDR. The price is attractive for such a great media streaming device with a wide array of major streaming services that include the best. The design is the same with the same nice remote. The setup is super duper straightforward. Just plug the power cord and the HDMI cable into the TV, and the device starts to boot up immediately. Then, I used my iPhone to scan the QR code that took me to the Google Home app, where I started the setup, and the device was up and running in just 3 minutes. When the setup was complete, a new firmware update began, and everything was ready within 2-3 minutes. This Google Chromecast and TV transformed my TV into smart with its gorgeous UI and apps. Navigating the menu is smooth and fluid. Besides the streaming services the device offers, it has Google Cast, where I can cast movies with just one click from my smartphone. Google Assistant is very helpful for searching for content from the remote and controlling home smart devices linked to Google Home. I wish it had Dolby Vision, but for the price point, it is logical and well-priced, especially with its remote control that offers a great functionality experience.

This is the newest version of the 1080p Google Chromecast with Google TV (HD) device with streaming logic built in. The price is a reasonable MSRP of $30 and offers up everything the 4K model does except the extra resolution for those 4K TVs. Picture quality on a 720p or 1080p TV is excellent, nonetheless. One slightly negative feature is that setting up this Google Chromecast with Google TV (HD) is not as straightforward as an Amazon Firestick. We operate three of those and have had no problems setting them up for the brand of TV and the features including TV volume and Input selection features. This Google streamer is not as fast in setup, especially in that it immediately went into 2 rather long consecutive downloads for the first 10-11 minutes to update the internal software upon powering up on the very first use. The picture quality is very good on both a 720p and another 1080p TV set we tried it on. The inclusion of the volume control, input control, and power on/off control (once set up) is very much appreciated. One positive feature is that the remote also controls TV power and volume so no more needing to keep the TV remote around. Store the original TV remote in a safe place so your child does not flush it in the toilet for fun. Of course, that applies also to the Google Chromecast remote since it is tiny and smooth so it will be easily lost but one benefit of it being snow white is that it will show up when lost in the sofa or the bed. I wonder if some firms make colorful plastic covers for it as they do for Firestick remotes…will look online. By buying and using this inexpensive new device, an older, non-smart TV now has all the smarts of the newest TVs in basically being able to stream anything that exists in the USA.

Hi AtrixNY, thanks for sharing a detailed review on Chromecast with Google TV (HD). It's great to hear that you liked the reasonable price, Voice Remote features, and picture quality, even at 720p or 1080p resolutions. We do apologize for any difficulty you may have experienced when trying to set it up.

The slow and laggy performance you experienced while setting up Chromecast with Google TV (HD) may have been related to a congestion of your Wi-Fi network or the limited bandwidth of your Internet connection. Chromecast typically requires a high speed Internet connection of at least 20 Mbps and a reliable Wi-Fi network. We recommend checking if your current Internet bandwidth is possibly congested, or that it may not be enough to enable the best viewing experience with Chromecast. Removing some of your connected devices to free up some bandwidth space, and trying out Chromecast will help verify the issue. If you verify congestion, we suggest contacting your Internet service provider to check your connection and upgrade it if needed.

We'd like to help you with any other concerns you have on Chromecast with Google TV (HD). Please consider contacting our support team for further assistance here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp madebygoogle

The seamless integration with various streaming services makes it incredibly convenient to access a wide range of content. Whether I'm in the mood for a movie night or want to catch up on my favorite series, Chromecast delivers a smooth and reliable streaming experience. What I love most about Chromecast is its versatility. Not only does it work flawlessly with my TV, but I can also cast content from my smartphone or laptop with just a tap. It has eliminated the hassle of dealing with cables and wires, providing a clutter-free and tidy entertainment setup. The device's compatibility with popular apps and the ability to mirror my screen make it a true game-changer. The picture and sound quality are top-notch, creating an immersive viewing experience every time. Plus, the affordable price point makes it an excellent value for the features it offers. Overall, I highly recommend Chromecast to anyone looking to enhance their home entertainment setup. It's a user-friendly, reliable, and cost-effective solution that has exceeded my expectations. Chromecast with Google TV has been around for a couple of years now. For those who aren’t familiar with the newer Chromecasts, it is no longer the black dangle with no remote wherein everything is cast fro your cell phone. The newer Chromecast is now white and has a remote which is a far cry from previous Chromecasts. The newer Chromecasts now have the following features: 1. Google TV Interface wherein you can get personalized recommendations based on your subscriptions and viewing habits. User profiles can be added too; 2. As mentioned earlier, the new Chromecast with Google TV has a remote which makes it easier for you to navigate through Google TV. Please note that you can still cast videos from your phone. And to make things easier, Google Assistant is available so you can do voice commands; 3. And for those with families, family friendly profiles can be setup so that age appropriate can only be watched coupled with parental controls as to limit viewing time; and 4. The Chromecast can be linked with your Nest Cam feed to see what’s going on around your home. So for those who already have a Chromecast with Google TV, what are the differences? THE NEW CHROMECAST WITH GOOGLE TV IS ONLY IN FHD OR 1080P AND NOT 4K RESOLUTION AND IS SOLD AT A LOWER PRICE POINT. That said there are also additional changes to the new Chromecast. This Chromecast has Android TV 12 OS whereas my older 4K Chromecast has Android TV 10 OS. Also, This Chromecast does not support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos but still supports Doubt 5.1 surround. So that being said, who is is Chromecast for? Apparently Google wants to target people who do not have nor want a full high end home theater setup of those having older TVs. In my case I am using this Chromecast with my 1080p Insignia TV with a 2.0 soundbar attached which is located in my guest room. There is no need for me to have Dolby Vision and Atmos in this room. (But in my living room I have the 4k Chromecast as I have a Dolby Vision and Atoms enabled home theater setup. And in spite of the limitations of this new Chromecast, I would still recommend this for others who do need nor want high end setup and also save money in the process.

Chromecast with Google TV is a streaming device that offers a convenient, easy-to-use and fully featured option for people who want to access a variety of streaming services and apps on their TV. It supports 4K HDR with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and comes with a remote that has Google Assistant built-in. You can also use your phone as a remote control if you prefer. The device plugs into an HDMI port on your TV and runs on Google TV, a new smart TV platform that replaces Android TV. Google TV has a sensible layout that organizes content by categories and recommendations, rather than by apps. You can also customize your home screen and watchlist, and access general Google searches from the device. The Chromecast with Google TV has received positive reviews from critics and users alike, who praised its performance, design, interface and smart home features. Some of the drawbacks include the lack of power from some TVs, the buggy continue watching list, and the poor formatting of some Google searches. Overall, Chromecast with Google TV is an excellent streaming device that offers great value for money.

Great streamer if you don't have a 4K TV

TL;DR: Just get this one if you need a streaming stick or casting device and you don't have a 4K TV. I have two Google TV 4K versions and this "HD" one performs identically to those devices, minus the 4K display resolution. If you're familiar with Google Chromecast/streaming devices, and you're primarily an Android/Google ecosystem user, then just get this device. At $30, it's easily the best value streamer out there. I've used the Chromecast with Google TV HD for about 4 days and I also own two other Chromecast with Google TV "4K" versions. Comparing this "HD" version to the prior 4K version, the only physical difference is the tiny "HD" label on the rear. The box contents, included remote, performance and features of the HD version compared to the 4K version (aside from the display resolution) are identical. This will make a great stocking stuffer for Christmas. The only issue / problem (which applies to the 4K version too) is the initial setup and login process is difficult if you have a long, complex Google account password, due to the challenges of using the remote to navigate and use the on-screen keyboard. It would be way easier if Google can just implement a way to have an authentication prompt on your smartphone to login, instead of forcing users to type out a long complex password. The included accessories are the same as the original Chromecast with Google TV: remote (batteries included!), USB-C power cable and AC adapter. The AC adapter is small, and the USB-C cord that's included is approx. 6 feet, so it should be long enough for most cable runs to a nearby power strip. Overall, this is the streaming device to get for Android users or anyone in the Google ecosystem. iOS users can use the Google Home app to set it up too, but don't expect to AirDrop or AirPlay anything to it (obviously).

I recently purchased the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) - Snow from Best Buy, and I have to say, I'm thoroughly impressed! This device has been a fantastic addition to my home entertainment setup. The setup process was incredibly easy, and I was up and running in no time. I love the variety of streaming services available, including YouTube TV, Netflix, Prime Video, and Apple TV+. The 1080p resolution support ensures that I get high-quality video playback, which is a huge plus. The built-in Google Assistant is another feature that I've found incredibly useful. It allows me to control the device with voice commands, making it so convenient to find and play content without having to navigate through menus manually. The Bluetooth connectivity for headphones or headsets is a nice touch, allowing for private listening sessions without disturbing others. The device itself is sleek and unobtrusive, fitting perfectly with my TV setup. The remote control included is intuitive and easy to use, adding to the overall seamless experience. At a price point of $29.99, I believe it offers great value, especially considering the 3 free months of Apple TV+ included. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase. The Chromecast with Google TV (HD) has exceeded my expectations in terms of ease of use, functionality, and value for money. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their TV viewing experience.

More than I expected. Ive been using a Chromecast since it first came out. I was happy with casting from my phone because I only used it for Netflix. Now that I am moving into dull streaming I needed a better interface. I went with Google because I'm used to it and was not disappointed. It makes going from app to app simple and easily pulls all your services onto 1 screen. It's not 4k but I don't have 4k TV's so I didn't need that. If you are looking to upgrade and older tv and make it smart, this is the device you need.

The Chromecast with Google TV (HD) in Snow is not just another streaming device; it's a refreshing take on home entertainment. Here's the lowdown: Crisp HD Streaming: The quality of streaming is top-notch. Whether it's binge-watching series or catching the latest movies, the HD clarity ensures a delightful viewing experience. Google TV Integration: This feature is a game-changer. It brings together movies, shows, and more from across your apps and subscriptions, all organized for you. No more app-hopping to find that one show! Sleek Aesthetic: The Snow color gives it a clean, modern look. It's not just about function; it's about adding a touch of elegance to your entertainment setup. Voice Remote: The addition of a voice remote is super handy. Just say what you want, and voila! It's on your screen. No more tedious typing or scrolling. User-Friendly Interface: The layout is intuitive, making it easy even for those who aren't tech enthusiasts. Plus, the integration with other Google services is a bonus. A tiny nitpick? Would've loved an ethernet port for more stable connections. But with its Wi-Fi capabilities, streaming is still smooth for the most part. All in all, the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) - Snow is a worthy addition to any home theater setup. It's not just about streaming; it's about redefining the way we consume content.

Baby Boomer discovers Chromecast with Google TV

This is the 3rd Chromecast I have purchased and I am thrilled with it. The first one in black did not come with a remote control, but the last two are identical snow white with the remote. I now have the convenience of remotes in the bedroom and living room. Since I cut the Dish service I was not sure I would like the streaming but in quick time I was zipping through the apps and enjoying my retirement in a new way, at no monthly cost except for basic internet service. About the device: it is easy to install and set-up. Has featured buttons on the remote for YOUTUBE and NETFLIX. YouTube provides every access to the shows I used to watch with Dish but now on my schedule. No more waiting until 6:00 pm on Saturday evening to watch INTOUCH. I can see it at anytime on any day. There is an on off button that controls the TV power and a volume control on the side of the device. Also a home button and back button to replay a portion of the show if briefly interrupted, also a pause button for the bio breaks. I know anyone under 40 reading this is thinking, where have you been for the last decade? I am a baby boomer who was luxuriating in the past without a smart TV in the house, gladly I do not need one with this device. I have finally stepped into the future of television viewing.

I recently bought the Chromecast with Google TV for my mother-in-law, who just installed her old tv in the bedroom. Since her old tv is only 1080p, I purchased an HD version of Chromecast. What impressed me how user-friendly it is; my mother-in-law (who is not a tech-savvy person) had no trouble navigating through the interface to find her favorite shows on Netflix, Hulu, and HBO apps. The remote is intuitive, and the voice search is a nice touch, making it easier for her to find content without typing. It also immediately detected her old TV make and model, and she now can control the whole thing with only Chromecast remote. I was also pleasantly surprised with the device speed - it's pretty snappy and responsive, especially considering the price. Overall I would say that Chromecast with Google TV (HD) is an excellent option for turning old TVs or monitors into modern media centers without breaking the bank. Still, for newer TVs, I would opt for the 4K version, which is not much more expensive.

Chromecast with Google TV (HD) was the right choice for the normal HD TV I have. This helped to seamlessly use the regular TV as a Smart TV. It has a user friendly interface, voice control and a simple setup process. Remote is bluetooth hence it doesn't require directly pointing at the device which is a big advantage. It has dedicated buttons for YouTube and Netflix. Only downside is too many recommendations or suggestions which sometimes feels irrelevant and too crowded. Performance sometimes feel little laggy over the time of usage.

I work full-time and only watch TV in the evenings, on weekends, or on holidays. To save money, my daughter lets me purchase this cute item to watch movies, etc, from Netflix …instead of Verizon's TV program. Right now, we are using this product to connect three TVs in two different cities, paying only $15 fee per month. The television images are crystal clear and simple to use. Only a small portion of the TV is turned on manually.
