Firmware updates are done in stages, and your device will usually download updates automatically. To manually download the latest update, follow the steps below:

I have a sony smart tv that I love but the processor is a bit outdated and not fast enough to stream without buffering. Having google tv has allowed me to continue enjoying my sony.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.As far as connectivity, it works far better than the budget Roku model it was replacing as it can connect to BOTH 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. But it loses points for its navigation, which is very bad IMHO, and looks like it was just an afterthought; and a lack of an integrated watch list (like on Roku) without requiring too much in the way of privacy compromises. Another bog downside was that it dangles off your tv; they should have sprung for a 6" longer cable so it could sit/lay down. Lastly, the remote feels super flimsy (it feels like its about to break after only a couple weeks use) and I am sure will need to be replaced within a year; again build quality is just fair at best. All in all I would recommend over Roku. Decent value if bought on sale. It's OK but its not great.

A range issue or wireless interference can affect the performance of your device and it may struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away from the router. We also suggest clearing the app cache that might help as having a sizable amount of cache stored, would affect its performance. Here’s how:
- From the Google TV home screen, in the top right, go to the user profile icon and select Settings.
- Select Apps and choose the app you're having trouble with.
- If you can't find it, select See all apps.
- Select Clear cache and then Ok.
- If clearing the app cache didn't work, you can try to reset your Chromecast with Google TV by following the steps here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6254654

This Chromecast has not only renewed my access to NetFlix, but has opened up a plethora of additional viewing options, many of which are free of charge.

This replaced an older version of the Chromecast. The small remote is nice but a little hard to manipulate with larger hands. Nice that you don't even need to use the chromebook to cast to the tv now.

The first was several years ago and I just needed a new one. This newer version is so much better. I also purchased this new one on Black Friday so it had a great price.
