    Could Not Complete Setup

    I tried for two days to setup this device and could never get it working. During my dozens of attempts, the app would lose connection to the Circle unit and enter a “No connection, try again” loop. I rebooted my Netgear R7000 router and everything connected to my router. I disconnected everything from my router via WiFi AND physical cable. I did a factory reset of my router. I power cycled the Circle a dozen times. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app a dozen times. Nothing I did had any impact, it was the same thing over and over again.. Setup your new Circle Connect to the Circle WiFi hootspot Tap continue Choose your home WiFi network Create a new account During my two dozen plus install attempts the Circle could stop working at any of the points above. Creating a new account was as far as I was able to get, as depicted by the attached screen shot. This product is a complete waste of money.

    As someone who has setup many networks, with various equipment from multiple manufacturers, this is the first one I’d say you’d be best looking for something else. The setup process should be easy, but isn’t. It is filled with dead ends and useless help. Things that should work, like texting you the admin passcode, do not work. Why would they not provide a first time code with the requirement to change on first login and to setup the software? Sadly this is a fail as far as I’m concerned and again I’m very familiar with setting up networks and network monitoring devices. First time I could not get through the setup process despite multiple attempts and much frustration along the way. And the instructions that come with the unit do not match the app, so that is another fail. And as a last resort, plugging into the network jack is a fail.

    Expensive Network Nanny

    While it is possible that a few people may find the Circle Home Plus easier than learning the admin functions of your Wifi router, this seems like a complicated unnecessary "solution." The program that you use to manage it resides on your cell phone. You have to add profiles to it for each person you want to control, and add their devices. Since a 4" by 4" cube on your network isn't capable of seeing who is using one of the controlled devices, it seems rather pointless to block one kid from accessing youtube on a PC when another kid that has permission can just walk away and kid #1 can just walk up and use the PC. You'd have to enforce dictator-like rules for everyone to be logging on and off. Between Windows, the Android Os's and just about any old wifi router--you can block/control/forbid content at certain times of the day by specific devices and users just by getting the admin login and exploring the available options. So why anyone would want to pay a yearly fee to do this through an "easy" device like the Circle Home Plus, I don't know. Seems like a fashionable headache to me.
