The Citizen CZ hybrid is a big step up from its predecessor and is a great way to get in to the smart watch design while stay maintaining the typical analog feel. It offers just about all the amenities you can find in your brand name smart watches while giving you quick access to the current time via analog hands. While this set up does have some very nice features, including a 15 day battery life, it also does have some minor short comings.
Out of the box your going to get everything you need to get you started. First thing i noticed during initial set up was the instructions and walk through process was probably hands down one of the worst i have ever seen. You get directed to download the free app to help with set up and receive further instructions, which is pretty much standard now a days. However once the app was downloaded i found that further instructions on how to fully utilize the watch were not found. Through the app you can choose your very basic functions such as which messages you want the watch to display to you. You can enter your profile for your fitness and wellness checker as well as setting backgrounds for your watch and which monitors you choose to have displayed. The preset watch backgrounds are very basic and there are only 4 to choose from. You can however preload a watch face from your own personal picture gallery so that does add so more customization. The app however does fail to give you any other further tips or instructions on how to utilize your watch. For example i spent about 10 minutes just trying to figure out if the watch had a built in light and if so how to get it to come on. After figuring it out on my own i realized that you have to double tap the screen for the light to come on. Also speaking of which i also found that there is no brightness setting or adjustability based on its movement sensors. Meaning you have no option to turn the light on at night with just a flick of the wrist. The only thing flicking your wrist actually does is cause the dials to rotate 360 degrees allowing you to see your active monitors on the face of your watch. It does this in case one of the analog hands is blocking one of your monitors such as your heart rate display for example. The app is more fitness based than anything, allowing you to track your calories, steps, workout, heartrate and sleep pattern. The heartrate tracker seems to actually be pretty accurate and appears to get a reading about every minute. If you sleep with the watch on at night then it will pick up on your sleep patterns letting you know just how much you sleep and what percentage of it was light, deep and awake. At this time there is no other additional health options meaning you can not add water or caffeine intake or log your food or weight. There are firmware updates so maybe in the future more additions will be added. The app will log all those trackers automatically as long as your wearing the watch and will display your readings on a graph type scale showing you how you have been doing through out the month and weeks. If you set new records it will always display it as your best record breaker. For example it will always show the best sleep you got, most calories burned and steps taken in a single day. Your top score will always be displayed for you to try to beat it.
Let's talk about the physical portion of the watch for a minute. The three buttons off to the side are your quick access buttons which can be mapped for different uses all via the app. Your options are very limited and as of right now the only options you have to map on them are workouts, wellness, stopwatch, notifications, music, timer, weather, commute time and connect challenge. If you hold the center button down you can gain access to your watches menu items such as vibration intensity, DND settings, notification settings, etc. I am a very big watch guy and im kind of old school and actually prefer an analog style watch. The one nice thing i like i about this set up alot is that the minute you get a text message or phone call the analog hands will move off to the side so this way you can read your incoming notification display without the hands blocking anything. Speaking of phone calls, it will display whos calling and will give you the option to answer the call however you can not talk directly in to the watch. When you hit 'accept call' the only thing it does is answer the phone for you so you still have to physically talk through the phone. The only gripe i have about the buttons is that they are kind of big and can sometimes get in the way of your hand when flexing your wrist, epically the middle button. There have been many times when i have been typing on my keyboard and my wrist will be in the flexed position and will the hit the middle button activating the watch settings. Not too big of a deal but just something to note. The watch syncs to your phone and therefore the time will always be be set properly based on your current location. If you walk away too far from your phone its not a big deal as the time will still display properly and all your health settings such as steps will still be logged however you just wont receive any notifications such as email, text messages, etc. As far as night time display goes as said earlier if you double tap your phone you get the led lights to come on which are very subtle. They are not bright enough to light up a room but they are not too dim to where you cant read your display. The analog dials also have a slight glow to them as well so that you can still read the time without having to turn the watch lights on. I will say the glow is very dim and can be hard to read for those that have vision problems.
Overall the watch is a very nice combination of old meeting new. Charge time on a dead battery was about 1 hour and on a full charge i got about 13 days of run time. I have to say the fact that i dont need to charge it every couple days is a very nice feature to have. So if your looking to get in to the smart watch game but dont want to be overwhelmed with all the features then this is a awesome way to go. The analog hands make it look like a traditional watch while the background displays still give you all the features of a smartwatch design. Its sleek design means that its the perfect fit for any occasion rather it be work or a night on the town. This watch for me is my new favorite go to as i like the ability to have the time displayed always while still maintaining my quick access notifications. The long battery life is a huge plus for me and the water resistance features means i dont have to worry about water damaging this watch. I only really have 2 complaints against this watch. One is the fact that i can not adjust the light brightness nor do i have an option to determine how it comes on. And second this watch seems more geared towards fitness and is supposed to have a auto workout feature which can pick up on when you are walking, running, cycling or working out and log those events for you. The watch never picks up on it and you have to always manually tell it that you are working out. Other than that i like this watch alot and think it'll please most people out there.

Beautiful Timepiece, Smartwatch In Disguise

TLDR; Not your typical smartwatch; is not meant to replace your phone when out of reach. But it can aid you during your day giving you custom relevant notifications, and track your health asynchronously. Battery life over two weeks between charges! Citizen design and quality. Real hand movements. Pedometer and heart rate monitor. Water resistant to 3 ATM. Health monitoring and tracking using Citizen Connected App.
I must confess…I love this watch. It’s a wristwatch with analog arms, painted number markings and pushers. It has the heft of a 44mm timepiece and is very attractive to look at. The rubber wristband is sturdy, yet comfortable and the overall blue colorway gives it such a sporty, modern look. And coming from a company that has been in the watch game for over 100 years gives me confidence in their workmanship and quality. Hard to say the same about other watches from other manufacturers I've bought in the past that have failed due to poor design; these companies started designing watches in the last 5-7 years.
At first or second glance, it does not scream out loud that it is a smartwatch. But a much closer look shows that the face behind the arms is entirely LCD, which can be customized to show various information. It also doubles as a pedometer and even takes your heart rate on demand. With the Citizen Connected app, it automatically records the following: daily steps, activity minutes (think when you’re exercising, it will keep track of that), calories burned (based on your physical profile), heart rate at rest and even how long you sleep (when worn to sleep, of course). The best part is that you don’t have to tinker with it! Just wear it like a watch and go about your day. A lot of smart watches are geared toward personal health and the Citizen really doesn’t disappoint here. As a smartwatch, battery life on this watch is absurdly long, considering today’s standard of smart watches. Citizen claims up to two weeks of run time between charges. When I wore it for about 24 hours straight, the battery went from 100% to 95%. So if you wear it religiously, it's certainly possible to get two weeks out of them before charging. Charging is simple; although not wireless charging, it has a magnet connection that automatically aligns itself to the exposed contacts underneath the watch so there’s no guessing if the charger is correctly aligned.
Drilling down into the Connected app (Android or iOS app), each category of health tracking is charted for your entire day, and can be trended for the week and even the month. Also in the app is the ability to configure the face to show information important to you and custom behaviors for the pushers. Navigating through the different menus is a little confusing at first, but it’s at least consistently confusing and eventually it becomes very easy to navigate. Basically, the top and bottom pushers navigate up and down respectively, and the middle pusher is to activate a mode/value/behavior. That’s all there is to it. I’ve updated my watch face to have a camouflage look, with pedometer steps, heart rate and activity minutes tracking shown. When I press the top pusher, it provides weather information. When I use the bottom pusher, it brings me to the stopwatch. Finally, the middle pusher gives me access to the heart rate monitor. Pressing and holding the middle button from any menu takes me back to the main face. The Connected App can be linked to Google Fit and the Apple variant if you prefer to track your health that way.
My most favorite feature of the watch is the notifications. Although you can set this watch up to vibrate to pretty much any notification from your phone, I’ve set my watch up to only notify me of text messages and phone calls. Furthermore, I’ve updated it to notify me based on a custom list of people. Text messages can be read in their entirety, but you’ll have to take the text from your phone if you intend to reply. Similarly, phone calls can not be taken straight from the watch and you’ll have to use your phone. And for both situations, that is entirely fine with me. I still find it a bit comical today that folks are still doing these activities straight from their watch.
If I had to highlight one con, it’s the inability to really see anything on the watch at night. It does have a face light, activated by double tapping anywhere on the bezel. The light stays on for about 10 seconds, then auto shut off. So if you need more than 10 seconds, you'll have to double tap again. Also worth noting is that all smartwatches will have some level of battery degradation over time. Looking closely at the watch, I can’t see any means of servicing the battery, so it will probably have to be sent in to Citizen. Citizen provides two years warranty on parts and labor.
There are many watches to choose from in its price range, but I think this mostly caters to those looking for a simple, set it and forget it like a typical non-smart watch. With its long battery life, I think it's a winner in that regard and still provides core smartwatch functionality both from a notification and health standpoint.

A Classic and Smart Hybrid Watch

I just received the new Citizen CZ Smart Watch and so far, I am enjoying it. I love the look of this watch. I like how rugged it looks and with the green band it boasts a very military-esque and manly design. The weight of the watch is just right. Not too heavy weighing in at 90 grams but has the weight that says I am not cheap. The band is made of a silicone rubber that is easy to manipulate with one hand and is comfortable. The 44mm watch face is made of stainless steel and comes with a black ion-plating (IP) coating. I love the chunkiness of the face and perfectly branded with the Citizen logo that is almost a reminder of one of their signature watches, the Promaster Navihawk, which is pretty freaking cool! The watch not only looks and feels great, but it is also packed with many great features. What makes this watch unique is that it is a hybrid, meaning that the watch has both a screen and mechanical hands. This watch tracks everything I would want it to track such as heartbeat, steps, distance, time, calories burned, and sleep, but it also does so much more!
There are so many neat features to this watch, and they are very easy to use and customize within the Citizen watch app. The watch has a simple 3 button design that makes navigating through menus a breeze. This watch allows you to participate in fitness challenges with yourself and friends right in the App. The watch can be link to your phone via Bluetooth and you can receive notifications right on your wrist. Within the app it is very simple to decide which apps or messages you want to receive notifications from to your watch, so the watch doesn’t buzz all day. The app also allows you to build and set your own fitness goals, and they can be easily tracked. The watch must be used with the app and it is available on both iOS and Android market places. The app is how you can get the most out of the watch.
Overall, I do like this watch. I like the looks, the feel, and that there is no monthly subscription for the app or the tracking. I like that you can wear this watch while dressed up nice, but I love that you can still wear it casually. This watch perfectly tracks all that I want it to without all the extra fluff. I recommend this for any guy that wants to wear a regular watch, but also have a little more tech in it to keep tabs on their body. I think Citizen did a great job with this watch series.

Traditional Timepiece with Tech!!!

Let me start of by saying that this is a beautiful watch. The look and feel of a beautiful traditional timepiece but with the heart of a computer. The black 44mm stainless steel case with a standout bezel, analog hands and comfortable silicone strap, this watch is sure to catch some looks and provide you with the convenience of a smart watch. So, lets go over the features and PROs and CONs of the Citizen CZ Smart Watch.
Unboxing and Setup:
In box you will find the watch, charging cable and the owner’s manual. The watch is compatible with android and the iPhone. I have an android device so I downloaded the “Citizen Connected” application from the google play store. The app with guide you through the setup process and teaches you some of the basic functionality of the watch such as how to use the buttons and what to use them for. Coming from a smart watch that only had one crown button that also acted as a rotating dial, just getting used to using the buttons alone took a little of getting used to but nothing to crazy.
App:
The Citizen Connected application made the setup process very simple and maybe took all of two minutes. The watch along with the app you can keep track of your steps, activity time, calories burned, your heart rate and track your sleep. The application also allows you to configure your commute time, the weather, notifications from different applications and quick responses. The application also allows you to customize the watch faces, widgets, and button functionalities. One thing I did notice in the application is that you do have to give the watch permission in the notification section to allow you to receive notifications from your phone to your watch and which apps in your phone are allowed to push notifications through, something that usually happens automatically with other watches that I have used in the past. Overall a nice but very limited selection of watch faces, widgets, and connected applications.
CZ Smart Watch:
The watch is offered in multiple color configurations. The unit I tested came in black stainless steel with black silicone bands. The watch features luminous hands and hour markers but with a double tap on the glass you can activate the light for extra brightness. The LCD is black and white, but looks absolutely beautiful. With the flick of the wrist, the hands snap back allowing you to read your notifications unobstructed. One of the best features of the CZ Smart watch is that the battery on this watch will last you almost 15 days depending on your usage. I have been using this watch now for almost two days and I am only down about 10 percent and that was after going every option and testing out the watch thoroughly and can be recharged fully in about an hour. The watch is also water resistant up to 30 meters or 98 feet.
Pros:
Beautiful Design and Quality
Good Hybrid Design
LCD is easy to ready even in bright light
Quick access button configuration
Extended Battery life
UV index and Live Sports feed
Cons:
Personally, since I had been so used to using the crown as a dial, it took me a little bit of getting used to just using the buttons. In my opinion, using the crown as a dial is a lot faster and more convenient, so that was the only thing that I was not a fan of.
Overall, this is an absolutely beautiful watch with the added convenience of technology. I am very impressed by the design, quality and health features. If you are in the market for a hybrid watch, I would recommend that you check out this watch. You will not be disappointed.

THE BREAKDOWN:
I love just about everything about this watch. Keep in mind that this is a hybrid watch, not a full-blown smart watch.
The Citizen CZ Smart 44mm Hybrid watch comes packaged nicely with the watch itself, charging cable and the instruction manual. The watch is compatible with IOS and Android systems. Once you download the “Citizen Connected” app it takes just a few minutes to get you watch setup and running. If you ever had one of the original Garmin watches the menu system is very familiar.
If you like the old school classic Citizen watch look you will not be disappointed. It even had the steel hefty feeling of the old classic watches. I had several people comment on the watch and when I told them it was a hybrid watch they were in disbelief. At a closer look under the analog hands there is a LCD screen. If you are into tracking health and sleep this watch will not disappoint. This watch had most of the functions of a full-on smartwatch. It has a 44mm stainless steel body with stainless steel bezel. It has continuous heartrate and activity tracking. It comes with a silicone band that has two keeps. Have a full-blown smartwatch that the watch band that tucks in itself has spoiled me. I found that the end of the strap catches on just about everything. The battery life is around 15 days, which is one of the stand out features for me. My smartwatch that I currently have has to be put on the charger every night in order to make it through the next day. You also get all the alerts on this watch. This watch is also water resistant to 30 meters. You can also double tap the face of the watch to activate the lights.
The app made the connection simple and easy to set up. The watch can track your heart rate, steps, activity time, calories and sleep. You can see all your categories for the day and can even be trended for the week or month. With the app you can configure the face of your watch and what you want you buttons to do. If you have ever had one of the first-generation Garmin watches the menu works in a similar way. You can also connect your watch to Apple health.
PRO’s:
- Old School look and feel
- Customizable dials
- Great battery life
- Health and wellness monitoring
CON’s:
- The strap caught on almost everything
SUMMARY:
Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for device like this.

I was looking for smart watch with long lasting battery and got CZ Smart Hybrid (Model JX1000-03E). Inside the box, it came with CZ Smart Watch, Charger and Owner’s guide. Setup is easy. I have downloaded Citizen Connected app from iOS store and pair the watch successfully with app.
In the app, it is easy to track steps, active minutes, active calories and sleep. Also, there are other settings like Set goals, Auto Workout Detection, Change Password, Preferred units and Connected Apps. In the connected apps, there are options to connect to google fit and Connect to Apple Health. It is not syncing the steps very often from watch to app and sometimes it does not sync for few hours. There is no option sync manually via app either.
The 44mm stainless steel watch face design is unique sport bezel with functioning dials on the black and white display. The watch face made of scratch resistant mineral crystal and strap made of silicone strap. The silicone strap is really disappointing. With the premium watch face, metal or leather would have been much better design. The watch face looks beautiful in the wrist. I was wearing Apple Watch 7 series and did grand canyon hike and battery did not even last for 7 hours. I tried with Citizen watch in Zion / Bryce canyons hikes for full day and 96% battery life remaining after 13 hours of usage. I was impressed with the battery life even though Read email and text notifications, view incoming call information phone alerts were enabled. It is watch resistant up to 30 meters and has advanced sleep monitoring. Citizen CZ Smart Watch is excellent choice to track activities with long lasting battery.

Out of the box onto the wrist and useable within about 10 minutes with the help of the Citizen Connected app, another couple minutes and paired with Google Fit. The app is easy to navigate an useful for some quick user tips. You have the ability to customize the face and change what the buttons will do based on your activity. There are not a ton of options on the face layout but I like what is available. Also you can customize to your liking.
The first thing you realize about this is it is a watch with smart features, not a smart watch. In my mind, having not owned a smart watch there is a distinct difference, not that it is bad, you just need to know what you are looking for. The first obvious feature, this is not a touch screen to the extent of a full smart watch. The crown buttons are your navigation aids and you can change what they do, however I like the stock set up. Tapping the screen twice will activate the back light feature, which in my opinion is not bright enough coupled with the screen size.
I do like the ability to choose what notifications I get from what apps. I don't want to know every thing that comes to my phone, only the important stuff, so I get to choose. The screen size limits what you get, but the notification is
The fitness tracker seems to spot on, I have worked out and worn the watch while also employing biometrics from my elliptical, the Citizen Smart CZ and my equipment are very close on steps, heart rate and other data. You can create customized goals and keep track of them.
The biggest fail is the Riiiver app, I still haven't figured it out, specifically the golf course function. Not much information out there on it and in the list of tutorials on Citizens web site there is nothing.
Battery life appears as indicated, now this is all dependent upon how you use your watch. At first i limited what notifications were set and I don't doubt I would get a full 15 days from the battery. If you utilize this and all it's features my guess is you would get a solid 10 days based on heavy usage after three days and battery level.
All and all for a hybrid, I like this watch and I would recommend.

Great Hybrid Activity Tracker With A Clunky UI
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Citizen is a watchmaker that's well known for building quality and watches that last a long time. So, this hybrid watch isn't much different in terms of build quality. The band feels sturdy although it's a little long, it has a backlight, the watch casing feels premium, and the glass is scratch resistant.
On my first days of testing, I really wasn't a fan of it. because I felt the user interface was not really user friendly. There was no easy way for me to scroll through the menu, clear notifications, or even exit out of the menu. I had to look at the watch and give thought to what I needed to do to see or do anything. Also, the watch was limited in smart functionality. and that's because It's not a smartwatch. It's actually a hybrid between an activity tracker and a watch. Which means it tracks my heart rate, steps, sleep, displays the time, weather, and some of my phone notifications on the e-ink display.
With that said, I had to temper my expectations and look at the watch as a hybrid activity tracker and not a smartwatch. I continued to use it for a few more days and little by little I started to like it. This is because as an activity tracker it does an excellent job. Everything it was tracking was recorded in the Citizen app and it seemed to be very accurate. Also, the battery life is fantastic. I'm easily getting 2 weeks of battery life. And after some digging, I was able to figure out how to change the watch face and the static information it displays, which made me look past the clunky UI.
Overall, I think this is a good Hybrid watch/activity tracker and would recommend this to anyone that wants a watch, with more functionality than a watch, but less functionality than a smartwatch.

This filled a gap for me.

I fell in love with Citizen watches ever since I first purchased an E650 and a Skyhawk Eco-Drive AT years back. These watches are still fantastic. Although it is a bit more rare that I wear them as I am heavily reliant on the data a smartwatch provides.
But I miss wearing a proper watch. And this watch has jumped in to fill a very specific gap for me. As you can see, it is slightly larger than the two watches mentioned earlier. It does feel a tad top heavy compared to the others as the weight and balance isn’t even close to the same. And that might be my only complaint on this watch at all…
Outside of wishing this too could be an Eco-Drive model (maybe one day?!?!), this watch does exactly what I want it to do. Tracks steps, records heart data, tracks your sleep, etc. And it looks fantastic. As much as I like my smartwatch that isn’t this one…I don’t particularly enjoy it’s aesthetic. But I do like the way this one looks a LOT more. Even the digital screen looks like paper and isn’t ever so bright that it’s distracting.
So, if you still want a watch that looks like a traditional timepiece that comes with the ability to keep tracking your health data, this is definitely a solid option.

Best of Both Worlds Smart Watch

The Citizen CZ Smartwatch provides the best of an analog dial with a smart, digital, dial face. I’m one of those guys who loves a sexy looking quality watch, and the geek in me loves the use of technology for keeping track of my heart, sleep, and activity.
Unboxing and Setup
The box and how the watch is packed is a good indicator of the quality of the product. The included Getting Started instructions are illustrated and easy to understand. I attached the included charger, plugged it into a standard USB port, and downloaded the Citizen Connected app onto my iPhone. The dials of the watch rotated around the dial and the crystal clear dial face displayed the same steps as the guide. Once the app was installed I gave it permission to use Bluetooth. The app found my watch and I selected it. A code displayed on the watch which I entered into the app. The app then installed the latest software onto the watch. Once completed, the watch displayed the current time. Sign-in on the app was easy with my Apple account.
Configuration
By using the Citizen Connected app, I configured the behavior of the three watch push buttons, selected what I wanted displayed on the dial face, what iPhone notifications I wanted to see on my watch, and the alarms I want for the weekdays and weekend. I also enabled the app to integrate with my Apple Health data for tracking heart rate, calories burned, sleep statistics, number of steps, and distance covered. Since my primary methods of exercise is walking and cycling, I enabled the app to automatically detect when I am active in those. I set my step, active minutes per day, target calorie burn, and target sleep time for each night. The default get moving notifications I kept at 20 minutes.
Using
The CZ fits comfortably with a black silicone strap with a belt clip and two strap restraints. It was easy to find the right fit for keeping the bottom facing sensors against my wrist while not being too tight and uncomfortable. I rely on the watch as my vibrating alarm clock, of which it has a strong enough alarm to wake me up. The documentation says the battery will last for 2-4 weeks and after three days of use, it is only down to 85%. Double tapping on the face turns on the backlight for 5 seconds. When I receive a text message or notification on my iPhone, it is displayed on the dial face of the watch. The text on the display is very crisp and clear. My only gripe is I wish I could enlarge the font for these older eyes.
Features
• Black ion-plated stainless steel sport bezel.
• 44mm case.
• Supports Apple Health and Google fit.
• 15+ day battery life.
• Bluetooth support.
• Customizable watch display face dials.
• Email, Calls, Text, and App Notifications.
• Health and wellness monitoring.
• Calendar notifications.
• Alarm notifications.
• Heart rate, activity, sleep, steps, distance tracking, and acceleration sensor.
• 40-60 minute charge time.
• Compatible with Apple and Android phones.
• Standard watch strap adapter with soft silicone belt link watch strap.
• Customizable function buttons.
• 5 year limited warranty.
• 5 second backlight with double tap on watch face.
• Configurable Challenges, step, sleep, calorie burn, and distance goals.
• Integration with Riiiver internet watch apps.
• Programmable alarms with vibration alert.
Summary
I’m impressed with the comfort, ease of use, battery life, and technology integration of the Citizen CZ Hybrid Smartwatch. Aside from not being able to increase the font size on the display, I highly recommend this quality watch to anyone looking for a sexy looking watch with an analog feel and technological smarts.

Overall the watch looks great and feels like the quality you would expect from Citizen. This is probably the third or fourth Citizen watch I own but the first one of this caliber attempting to bridge the gap between a traditional mechanical watch and smart watch. I had to go onto YouTube to figure out how to activate the backlight feature that I turned on by mistake somehow (you double tap the face of the watch to activate the light-up feature BTW).
Pros - Looks great, feels solid, easy to read, expect it to be durable, great battery life, great charger with strong magnets to easily and quickly attach for charging, arms are not bioluminescent to glow in the dark, messages may be hard to read on the watch
Cons - Falls short with smart watch features, getting used to using the buttons and the crown to navigate not real intuitive, doesn't seem to notice my activity automatically, not a fan of Google Fit since I have been using Samsung Health for years with my old smart watch
Overall I do like the watch but not impressed at all with the workout support, really wish it was able to be paired with my Samsung Health app. It looks great when on but isn't flashy so no one has noticed or asked me about it. If all you want is to track your heart rate, see alerts about messages on your watch, and have a primarily mechanical watch with a few minimal smart watch features then this might be the watch for you.

The Discreet Smart Watch

The CZ Smart watch from Citizen is the smart watch for someone who doesn't want one! Seriously! This watch has a lot of great features but probably one of the best features is that the watch doesn't appear to be a smart watch! It has the rugged look of an active wear watch. I will say that the watch is manly in appearance. It does come in several different colors but the over all look of the watch probably won't appeal to anyone other than men. With that being said, my favorite part about this watch is the screen! It is conveniently tucked away under the hour and minute hands. The watch faces can be edited to either preset, downloaded, or personal photos! The type of screen on the watch contributes to the ridiculously long battery life that is advertised. It is advertised at up to 15 days. In my use of the watch, the battery wouldn't have lasted 15 days. Maybe 5 or 6 at the most. This is all going to be up to how you use the watch and what type of alerts you have sent to it. Other factors that will detract from the battery life are the use of the heart rate monitor and the light on the watch. The watch is not "backlit" so, in order to see the face at night you have to double tap the screen to trigger the light to come on. The heart rate monitor triggers on its own and keeps a record that is visible on your watch or phone. The only way to truly interact with this watch is via three large buttons on the side of the watch. I found this interaction style to not be as intuitive as one would like. In order to do something as simple as reading or replying to a text message, it takes multiple buttons pushes. It just isn't as easy as having a touch screen. The companion app you can download on your smart phone gives you full information from the watch. You can view details about your activity, heart rate, and even sleep quality. It presents the data in graphs for you to see. The watch vibration is very noticeable when an alert comes to the watch. I think this is a cool watch design, however, in terms of being user friendly this watch is lacking. It definitely is not designed to be messed with constantly. It truly is designed to view your notifications "at a glance" and that is really about it. Anything in depth someone may want to try and do on this watch should probably just be done from the phone. It is a sleek, well built watch, but without a touch screen it feels clunky.

So I've had a couple different smart watches over these last few years and a Hybrid version sounded intriguing.
The Citizen CZ is quite a nice watch. I love how they integrated smart capabilities yet retain the look of a classic watch. So far in my few days of using the watch I've not had any issues with it.
The Setup was quick and a breeze and only took maybe 1-2 minutes to get paired. It updated fairly quickly as well. Battery life I can't really attest to yet, but it seems to be good for at the least a day of usage. I like the monochrome look, though some things may be a bit hard to read for some.
There's integrations with your music on your phone and it's not limited to certain apps. The Weather has yet to work for me as it constantly gives me a Request Timeout. I'm not sure if it's supposed to pull from a specific app such as Google Weather or if it's just a general check with your Zip Code.
Aside from that quirk with the Weather, the watch is fantastic. If you're looking for something a bit more sporty and stylish but still retains that classic watch type look, this is an excellent option.

I now own one of each of the Citizen (CZ) smart watches. I like the Google OS watch for all that it does. However, the battery is only good for no more than 36 hours. Now it's a different story with respects to the battery when wearing the hybrid watch. I've found the hybrid CZ smart watch does everything I want on a day to day usage and has a battery that so far has surpassed the other CZ smart watch I have. One thing I need to point out. The Google OS CZ smart watch can pretty much operate independed of a phone only needing to be connected occasionally. However, the Hybrid CZ smart watch needs to be Bluetooth connected to a phone for much of its functions such as weather and time. I'm not saying the Hybrid watch can't operate independent of a phone, it can. However, the Hybrid doesn't have wifi and gets its information from a phone. Ok. So that all be said I really like my CZ Hybrid smart watch. I found it very easy to setup and pair with the app you download to your phone. I also found the instructions found on the CZ web site very easy to understand. If your looking for a hard core smart watch this is not it. Get a Garmin smart watch if you want a watch that does everything. Or by this watch for the basics for a lot less. This watch feels solid and looks great. Oh and one of the features I want to mention. You can set up three different watch faces with different widgets via the CZ phone app. One screen for daily, one for fitness and one for travel. Pretty cool, useful and fun! You can't go wrong with CZ Hybrid smart watch.

Well made watch, long battery life. The app allows you to change watch faces, update the readings from the watch and keep track of your readings weekly and monthly.

My husband loved his new smart watch. Battery lasts a long time. The band can not be switched to a metal band though.
