Cult film that is very funny.

Owned for 5 months when reviewed.

Entertaining. And hilarious. Film is grainy black and white but what do you expect from a low budget film. Dante, Jay and Silent Bob are great comedic actors. This is a must see if you like comedy.

Worthwhile Kevin Smith Feature Film Debut.

    Posted .

SYNPOSIS: Dante (Brian O'Halloran) is called in to cover a shift at his New Jersey convenience store on his day off. His friend Randal (Jeff Anderson) helps him pass the time, neglecting his video-store customers next door to hang out in the Quick Stop. The uneventful day is disrupted by news that one of Dante's ex-girlfriends has died. After attending her memorial service, Dante muses over staying with current girlfriend Veronica (Marilyn Ghigliotti) or reuniting with ex Caitlin (Lisa Spoonhauer). Again usedto own this on VHS and DVD. Still have yet to watch Clerks II as of this writing. Part of the View Askewniverse.

an interested film from the mind of kevin smith. i remember seeing this movie back in the day. even though it is in black and white- it still is worth the watch. this was the start that lead to his other films as Mallrats. Chasing amy eventually lead to the sequel clerks 2. has alot of adult humor - so this is not for the kiddies :D blu ray offers many extras including both the theatrical version and the first cut version of the film. you shoe-polish smelling mfer

    Best bad movie ever!

    |
    Posted .

Ok so this was the premiere cinematic masterpiece of filmmaker Kevin Smith, now known as the voice of a generation (or at least one from a certain area of the country...). It is excellent in its imperfections, fantastic in spite of and because of its flaws. Watch without judgement for the typical measures of "quality", and you will find a film that showcases the angst of Generation X in a way that rings true like no movie before or since. So yeah, just buy it because it's awesome.

CLERKS: Anything but stale on BLU-RAY!!!

    |
    Posted .

Kevin Smith's first classic CLERKS....What fond memories I have of laughing at Jay & Silent Bob getting down out front of the convenience store....and the overdue adult titles....hilarious! The 15th Anniversary release of CLERKS on Blu-Ray is surprisingly much more refreshing than previous DVD re-(and re)releases...Fine detail is crisp and even the grainy scenes are fluent in contrast and rich blacks in shadow scenes are very nice on the eyes as well. Voices are very clear and follow the Dolby Digital Surround Speakers very nicely...Recommended!

    Clerks in better quality

    |
    Posted .

One if the charms in clerks is the low budget quality, however the improvement in the bluray version actually brings out more of its quircks and eastereggs. Lets be honest we will keep buying kevin smith movies in whatever form they move into... If anyone has or does work retail and you havent seen clerks you are missing out on layers of funny to keep you from giving up on life mid shift. I liked it so much i grew up to manage a conveniance store

    It's great!

Doesn't feel like a movie. Not in a bad way but in a way that's like wow I have gone though the same thing or I know someone like that. I enjoy the movie for it's understandment. There is no iconic villain or super hero but if your looking for a down to earth yet surprisingly good movie this is the best one! The only issue with it is it leaves with no answer. They start off with a problem that's never resolved. However if you enjoy cliffhangers and movies where they surprise you this a movie I recommend. Kevin Smith at his best!

    From where it all began!

This will be my last purchase of Clerks. I own the VHS, 2 copies of DVD, AND now on Bluray. It keeps the grungy look of the original film, so I am happy about that. But even Kevin Smith states on the bluray there's really no reason to keep releasing this on different formats for he will not change the look and feel of the film. So if you do want a sharper picture there's a little help on Bluray, but would be a waste of money on 4K Bluray.

    Low budget laughs

    |
    Posted .

Kevin Smith's low budget debut film still delivers laughs after all these years. I've owned the dvd for years and finally upgraded to Blu-ray. Really, this movie doesn't benefit too much from the HD treatment, but it's still worth the investment as now you also get a digital UV version included in the package so you can watch this film anywhere and anytime off the online cloud once you redeem the included code.

    It is a classic.

I love this movie even though it is not done with the greatest quality or cameras. That black & white film gives it a special vibe and feeling. The music , great, the cast, great , the vibe, idea, life scene they are trying to represent, they have done it the best way possible and it is as close as real as possible. it represented pretty well those days and the way youth (at least some of the youth) used to think , live, etc. I just love it (even if others say I am wrong. I don't care). I have a blast watching it.

Clasic, you must see to get references

Dante and Randal are best friends. They work at a small convenience store and a little video store respectively. As a matter a fact, the video store is so inept that Randall actually goes to one of the bigger video stores in town to rent his movies. Anyway, Dante is obsessed with his ex-girlfriend that cheated on him and he has a present girlfriend that is wonderful to him. That is the basic premise for the movie.

    Great Movie, Mediocre Extras

    |
    Posted .

Many of the extras are ported over from the Clerks X release from 2004, including a fascinating "First Cut" version of the film with optional video commentary. The vintage (and embarrassing) laserdisc commentary on the theatrical version is also present as well as the shockingly downer of an original ending. The only real new extra is a making-of from "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back", which technically kind of fits in the Clerks world, but otherwise an odd choice. Movie is still hilarious after all these years.

    Black and White?

    |
    Posted .

I picked Clerks up from the bargin bin as a Blu-Ray disk because the price was too good to pass up and I'm a fan of Kevin Smith and wanted to see his first movie. I should have been a little more careful, the movie is in black and white. I didn't realize that at the time that I bought it. That being said the movie itself is a pretty good freshman effort and has Jay and Silent Bob in it who are always entertaining. Plus for the price it was a great deal.

Don't adjust your set, yes, it is in black & white. Too many classic lines to quote here. Best film of all-time but I'm a little biased cause it's my favorite film of all-time. Heavy on dialogue and character development, not what you'd normally see in a comedy, but Kevin Smith came out of nowhere with this one in 1994 and it is still relevant today.

    Great Writing

    |
    Posted .

This was Kevin Smith's first movie which led to a long string of success including Mallrats, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks 2 and several others. He had limited funds for this project so he had to shoot it in Black and White, but the writing is outstanding and earned him great reviews.

A WELL DONE MOVIE OF PEOPLE WITH TRUE MOTIVES

I THOUGHT THIS WAS GOING TO BE A NO BRAINER OF A MOVIE AND WAS TRULY SURPRISED. THE CHARACTERS WERE WELL WRITTEN AND HAD GREAT CHEMISTRY. THERE WAS A MATURITY THAT GREW IN THE CHARACTERS THAT NEVER HAPPENS. I REALLY ENJOYED THIS HUMAN ASPECT THAT CAME OUT IN THE END. A HIDDEN TREASURE FOR ALL.

    A classic Kevin smith film

    |
    Posted .

Even though I don't usually care for black and white films, this one was done in an interesting way. Made to look like it is filmed threw the security cameras of the store. It is funny and launched several main stays in the Kevin smith movie world. Jay and silent bob for instance. Worth watching. The sequel is done as a more traditional film.

A Must See For People That Work In Retail

Those of us that work in retail can definitely appreciate the trials and tribulations of Dante, Randal, Jay & Silent Bob. Most of us have had many an interesting customer experience and of course Dante and Randal experiences are even more out there. If you are new to retail, do yourself a favor and check this out... and if you are not in retail, check it out anyway!
