I tested them both in the hotel room and they worked fine. As my children 14,15 and 17 years old decided to walk around the resort by themselves, (because we're to old to hang with them..lol..) I decided to reach out to them when I was on the beach and never received a response back from them. After a while we left the beach to go find them they were in the room and they also said they were trying to get in contact with us but we never received an alert either. We tried it later on, on a different channel and again no contact was established but what I did hear was a bunch of other people talking back and forth with themselves. I decided to put them up and just use our cell phones. I'm not sure if they only work in the States but as for Mexico, on a small resort THEY DIDN'T.

I tried calling my house from 2 miles away and got no response. (Was doing a test). Next test will be in the woods (when the snow melts), but I'm skeptical the trees will grow little windows for the sound waves to pass through.

I returned them within 2 days. I would have returned them the day I purchased them, but the store had already closed.

Posted .I am sorry to hear the radio has poor range. Range can vary greatly depending on obstructions, terrain, interference, power settings, and battery level. Being inside or trying to transmit through a building or vehicle can greatly reduce range. Please ensure you are using the high power channels (1-7 & 15-22) and in the high power mode to achieve maximum range. If you are still having issues please contact Cobra customer support at 1-800-543-1608 for additional help.
Walkie talkies very poor performance
