We were lucky to get reception from a little more than 1/2 mile. We used these on a cross country move to communicate between the moving trucks and the cars just in case we didn't get cell service. We were lucky to get reception on anything over 1/2 mile. If the vehicle was out of sight, you got no reception. I would not recommend this product.

Posted .I am sorry to hear the radio had poor range. Range will vary depending on power settings, obstructions, terrain, interference from other users, atmospheric noise and battery level. Please ensure you are using the high power channels (1-7 & 15-22) and in the high power mode to achieve maximum range. The radio can reach a maximum of 25 miles under ideal conditions. Again I will comment that the Albuquerque store associates not very helpful overall but you will find one out of many willing to help. Not whining but if they want more business they should work hard for their money in meeting customer expectations.
