The explanation for the monster's origin is a little cheesy, but perhaps that is homage to the classic 60s-70s campy Godzilla/Gamera films. However, this is a deeply emotional piece that, while a little predictable, is completely captivating. This is a personal drama and not a giant monster film. Still, since the monsters are the analogy, it would have been useful to have a few more moments of monster rampage. Very good movie!

It's hard to think of this movie as cute, but it really kind of is. There's a giant monster attacking Korea as our heroine is having personal problems. The monster attacks are directly related to her actions and she doesn't know what to do. The script took a few twists and turns I did not expect and I am glad to be surprised. Nothing too spectacular but worth picking up on sale. Not bad, just not great.

It's worth a rental. It's fun to see how everything connects to the monsters in the end. Halfway through the movie, you might honestly begin to get bored and want for it to just finish. Jason Sudeikis serves as a good antagonist that later begins to feel one-note. Anne Hathaway is great in this movie. It's not great, but you get over how the CGI looks.

Colossal is an utterly unique film. Do you like rom-coms? Do you like kaiju? Congratulations! Two great things that taste great together. To say anything more might detract from the experience. The film gets five stars, the disc gets four because it has a single special feature--a deleted scene. Come on, Universal.

This is not your typical monster movie. There was romance, drama, comedy and a bit of suspense. Jason Sudeikis and Anne Hathaway were good choices for this movie. Both of these actors are two of my favorites and had good interaction with each other. It was an hour and fifty minutes that held my attention the whole way. Loved it!

From the trailers, I thought that this movie would be more of a comedy than it ended up being. It is a dark comedy but ends up being less funny in the back half of the movie. It is still enjoyable and has a very satisfying ending. The entire concept is original and something I haven't seen before.

This is a very fun, quirky independent film. It takes a dark turn about halfway through that had me wondering how they would resolve the issue. It's about WAY more than the synopsis/trailer would have you believe. Worth a watch!

What a crazy original story that is so weird it should be seen to be believed. Read nothing about it if possible and just watch it.

Wasn't sure what to expect here but the story sounded interesting and Anne Hathaway helped me get my daughters interested. I liked it and I'm not sure they stayed engaged for the full feature.

The only thing bad about this movie is the lack of special features. A deep character drama hidden in a monster movie. Or is it the other way around? either way excellent movie.

This was a crazy ride of a movie. I really did not identify with any of the characters or have a vested interest if they resolved their issues. They were all quite broken.

This is a good funny and serious drama sci-fi movie. Good action from beginning to end with lots of thrills. If you need a good laugh then this is the movie to see.

I rented this strange & fantastic movie a while ago for $0.99 and I was curious about what kind of freaking movie it was. Without spoiling the plot, it was my kind of movie involving a lot of drinking, a lot of Anne Hathaway, and also other actors that really made me LOL. The plot is very weird but it's my type of crazy, fantasy, gigantic laughs & fun with mysterious giant monsters that never needed to be explained. Colossal freaky FUN!

Metaphorical Kaiju movie. Pretty fun and different but not without it's flaws. If one is in the mood for something a little different, this could work.

The movie Colossal doesn't fit easily into a single genre. It is not a movie about monsters, though you see monsters. It is not a romance flick, nor a true comedy. It will however make you think, and question what is behind what you see. Perhaps most puzzling for me was the sole Bonus item. Labeled as a deleted scene, it appears to be the same scene we watched in the movie. It does nothing to clarify the movie, but perhaps that is the point.

I had a fun time watching the movie but overall it wasn't a fantastic movie that everyone should go out and buy but it's definitely worth watching.

it was interesting, a new twist in the sci-fi monster theme. It looked funnier in the previews than it was but it was alright.

Colossal is fantastic! Rarely do you get a dark comedy with such a peculiar story/concept AND a decent cast. Highly recommend!

This was a fun take on the movie monster genre. A definite must-see for true fans of classic movie monsters.

A very original premise in this movie with great performances. I could even stand Ann Hathaway in this.
