Not even 2 months after installation, I started experiencing issues. Customer service told me after 90 days, I will have to pay to get it checked. I can't unlock the doors with the original car remote keys but I can lock them. I had another remote installed 3 years ago at Bumper to Bumper no issues til now. I don't know between the remote starter and the technician which one messing up my original car keys.

Moreover, the LTE Module adds an extra layer of connectivity and control. With the ability to start my car from virtually anywhere using my smartphone, I feel empowered and in control of my vehicle's comfort and security, no matter where I am.

Works wonderfully in my wife’s car

My wife drives a Kia Sportage QL which didnt come with remote start from the factory. Best Buy had a great deal on this kit including a long-range remote plus an LTE module for app control.
Both pieces of it get used daily. While the performance of the fob is impressive—having no problem going through buildings and multiple floors of a parking garage to start the car—the phone app is the real selling feature for my wife. She’s a nurse, and as good as the fob is, her car is in a remote employee lot connected via a shuttle bus - no chance the fob can reach that far! The phone app works wonderfully - we’ve never had an issue connecting to or starting the car.
If you’re looking for an affordable remote start system with both app and fob compatibility, I think this is a great place to look.

I love it! I live in NYC and this has been a game changer, especially during the freezing NYC winters. I remote start my car 10 minutes before I leave my apartment and by the time I get to it it’s nice and warm. It saves me about 5-10 minutes everyday because I no longer have to go into a cold car and wait for it to warm up. I love being able to see my car’s location and I love that I can remote start, lock/unlock, and pop my trunk from the app on my phone in case I forget my keys at home. I had my installation done at the Yonkers location and received some of the best customer service from employees there. I didn’t get her name but this young lady helped me get the installation process started the day I went in for my appointment since there was some confusion in their system. She did her best not to let me miss the appointment I had already scheduled for that day. Also, the two gentlemen that did my installation were friendly and informative. They quickly showed me how to use my new key fob and went through its features with me. And the installation process was about 2-3 hours if I can remember correctly.
The Drone device and key fob itself work great. The key fob has a great distance and I love the 2-way communication sound letting me know I’ve successfully turned my car on. It also has little lights on the key fob that quickly flicker on and off after you’ve remote started your car to let you know it’s on. To use the LTE feature you will have to download the Drone app on your phone and it starts you off with a 30-day free trail. Then, to continue to use this feature after the 30 days are up, you will need to buy a subscription and pay on a monthly or yearly basis. It’s easily worth it in my opinion, especially if you live in a city.
Overall, I had an excellent experience getting this device installed in my car and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in adding this device to their car.

This is a great product. I caught it on sale with installation included. I haven't been able to get this one installed yet but I've already had 2 installed on other vehicles. The systems work as they should and the option to sedownload a phone app gives the user much more options & control. Not only can you lock, unlock & start the vehicle with the phone app, you can get GPS location updates and even be notified when the vehicle is started. Other options are available. Definitely recommend.

Intalled on 2006 Yukon.
Dropped truck off and picked up after work. Did everything i hoped it would. Remote works at a much further distance than the factory remote. And app works seamlessly as well. My android allowed me to make a widget from the app so the remote function are on my home screen when i unlock my phone. 10/10 out of 10 would recommend.

The Compustar 2-Way CSX Remote Start System with LTE Module is a fantastic addition to any vehicle, offering convenience and advanced features. Here are some key points from my experience:
Pros:
Long Range: The remote start system boasts an impressive range of up to 3,000 feet, allowing you to start your car from a considerable distance1.
Two-Way Communication: One of the remotes included in the package is a two-way remote, which means it not only sends commands to your car but also receives confirmation signals back, ensuring your car has started successfully1.
Advanced Features: This system includes various advanced functions such as timed start, cold and hot temperature start, valet mode, and stop-and-go mode1.
Keyless Entry: The system also provides keyless entry, adding an extra layer of convenience1.
Free Installation: The package includes professional installation, which is a significant plus as it ensures the system is set up correctly and saves you the hassle of doing it yourself1.
Cons:
Price: The system is on the pricier side, especially if not purchased during a sale. However, considering it includes installation, it can be seen as a worthwhile investment1.
Monthly Service Fee: To use the LTE module for app-based controls, there is a monthly service fee. The basic plan costs $5.99/month, while the premium plan, which includes GPS and tracking, is $11.99/month2.
Overall:
The Compustar 2-Way CSX Remote Start System is a reliable and feature-rich option for those looking to add remote start capabilities to their vehicle. The long-range, two-way communication, and advanced features make it a standout choice. While the price and monthly service fee might be a consideration, the convenience and peace of mind it offers are well worth it.

Decided to purchase this remote start option since the DEI (Viper) one would not work with my 2010 Lexus GS. I really wanted the 2-way with extended range but the app makes a world of difference as I can start it while still at work via Wi-Fi from more than half a mile away and inside several layers of concrete. Downside for me was that installing in my Lexus took 5.5 hours due to the hardwiring requirement vice the plug and play, additionally once the vehicle is remote started my factory key fob is basically blocked from being used for keyless entry or even just button use to unlock, I have to use the Compustar fob, and to top it off (Lexus again) once I get in and hit the brake, I have to restart the car as it shuts down for security reasons. Also, my trunk does not open from the key fob or the app, which is odd as it works form the factory key fob, might have to check with installer or that. Overall, I am happy but there are drawbacks. For comparison a co-worker of mine had the same unit installed in a Mazda CX-7 and does not have to restart the car once they get in, just take the key to ON.

Great product. Does everything the way it’s described. Made my 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 have the new truck touch. Make sure it fits your vehicle before purchase. There’s a car fitment tool on the products page to help you out.
Love the Drone Mobile app but like everything else it only comes with a 30 day trial period. There are different pricing plans based on how much features you want and a discount if you don’t do monthly payments.
On purchase it said install would take 2 hours but when I got there the tech told me it would take 4 hours if not longer. Tech did a great install and did it in 4 hours. Schedule your appointment as early as possible and have all wiring harnesses ready to give the tech.

Very nice remote start. 2 way makes it easy to know if signal reaches car. The remote will let you know that the car has successfully started. In addition, it will blink every 5 seconds to let you know the vehicle is still running. Compatible with smart phone starting. Has a nice mode to keep it running if you forget something and don't want to turn the car off. The installer Tim did a fantastic job

Phenomenal Compustar remote with Drone Mobile

This is a great remote start system as it works exactly as specified. This bundle comes with the DRONE mobile module so that you could control everything with your phone. It also comes with a 2-Way remote that lets you know if your car has actually started or not. The range is phenomenal. Just a note--if you want to use your phone, you must sign up for a plan. This is because the remote start operates using LTE data. It is around $3 a month if you prepay for 5 years. The techs did a great job with the install and I would highly recommend the Compustar remote start bundle.

I purchased this while on sale and the Bestbuy install team had this installed in about 2-3 hrs. Install for the Compustar alarm system was FREE with this purchase but the Drone add on required a $99 additional fee. The Drone add on allows me to start my car from anywhere if I have a cellular signal! The compustar remote is also great and allows me to start my car while inside large warehouse like stores without any issues. Definitely worth the money for those cold winter days.

Works well, not for Toyota Hybrids (yet)

I bought two of these for $350 each last year, one for my wife’s older Camry and the other for a 2021 hybrid RAV4 Prime. The auto tech was incredible. Worked with us to install my wife’s on a day that fit our schedule. Living in the northern country, my wife appreciates the drone tech so she doesn’t have to worry about where she parked at her job.
I will say that if you drive a Toyota charging hybrid, you may wish to delay buying this. As of last summer, there was scant national data for installers to draw from, and I ultimately returned mine rather than the risks associated with being BBuy’s guinea pig. Hybrid systems - cars that charge anyway - have multiple batteries.
The car engine ignites EV by default and Toyota hadn’t as of mid-2023 devised an update to permit these EVs to start using gas. Things may change, BestBuy will eventually obtain credible experience to install these with confidence.
Let me emphasize that the tech who advised me is a champ and the reason I am still shopping at Best Buy. He laid out all my options and facilitated the return when I elected for it. Thank you Best Buy for hiring ethical and competent people. My wife is very happy with her starter and I am looking at one again now that I’ve traded in that vehicle for a different one.

Works great, we love all the features this remote start has. It comes with one remote FOB that has great range for remote start or locking and unlocking doors. The drone app is awesome as well, it allows you to remote start, unlock or lock doors with your phone from anywhere you have cell signal, it also tells you lots of information about your vehicle including the inside temperature of your car. Our favorite feature is that we can now start our vehicle with the factory key fob by pressing the lock button three times so I can continue just carrying my factory key if I want. This was installed on a 2014 Honda Pilot touring and we’re very pleased with it. We are still in the 30 day trial of the drone app, after the trial they offer multiple packages you can subscribe to monthly for as little as around $3 a month for the basic package to continue using the app function, or you can just use the key fob they provide or your factory key fob.
Best Buy installed this for free and did an excellent job installing it. They also took time to explain all the features and how it worked.

Sofar I am happy with the Compustar 2 way CSX remote start system/LTE module. I have not begun to try to see how far the remote works. I know it worked at about 300 feet, but don't necessarily feel the need to try it at 3000 feet. I did splurge for the LTE and paid for the 5 year plan in advance. The install was clean by the Best Buy technician as well.
I will say to wait for a sale. The price is a little steep but much more tolerable when it's a couple of hundred greenbacks less.

i had best buy install remote start in my moms car years ago ans it went so smoothly. i just got a new (used) car and decided to have it installed as well. i stumbled upon this one while it was on sale and id 100% buy it again. its so easy to schedule an appointment and they install it efficiently and quickly. 10/10 service. its nice having the option to control it all thru an app, without it being required - still having control with the key fob.

The quick and dirty review: buy this one if you want a subscription based app that can also control your car and 1 remote. Buy the $449 system if you want no app but 2 remotes. The app works fine, you get 1 free month.
More detailed review..
So this remote start is $599. You'll see a similar one for $449 on best buy. The difference is this one comes with the Drone mobile module in order to use your smart phone to control your vehicle. NOTE: The app is NOT FREE. The $150 premium is for the module only, and they take back 1 remote to add insult to injury. These can be purchased online for like $50-60
The app has some decent features depending on what tier of service you want to subscribe to. There are 4 tiers of subscription and purchasing the unit comes with 1 month of the plan that's second from the bottom. You can lock/unlock/start/stop all with a widget on phone home screen if you chose.
The lowest tier plan gives you full control of the car, a battery voltage readout and temperature readout of the interior of your car. helpful for deciding if you even need to bother with starting it early for the heat or AC to make it comfortable. The cheapest plan is $6/month with scaling discounts for 1, 3 and 5 year. 5 years purchased upfront is $2.99/month. higher tiers give real time GPS related features for the national costs. The app has incredible range. I started the car from my phone while it was at best buy, which was 20minutes away. The installer called asking me to do it in order to test it for him.
The #1 draw back (besides the subscription) is this system comes with only 1 physical backup remote. I guess the assumption is you only need 1 if you've got the app but that's only a viable solution if you pay the subscription.
That's where my problem lies. The app is neat. But it's not pay a subscription service for access to kind of neat. Not when the identical remote start system that comes with a backup remote is $150 less expensive.
I'm giving it 3 stars because there is nothing "wrong" with the system. it works great and Best Buy had it installed and back to me in like 3 hours. but for a $150 premium, you should get 1 year of the app included. not 30 days.
