Ok, I’ll start by saying the Contixo F29 Altura Max 4K GPS Drone definitely looks the part: big 5" screen remote, 3-axis gimbal for smoother video, and that polished finish you expect when you’re spending more than “toy drone” money. It feels like a serious piece of gear when you take it out of the box, and there’s no doubt Contixo put some thought into the overall experience.
That said, I do have to start with the price point. For what you’re shelling out, I was hoping it would feel like a more obvious leap from entry-level drones. It’s definitely not a beginner toy, but it also doesn’t fully deliver the jump in performance some mid-level flyers might be expecting at this price. If you’re brand new and just want something that works with minimal learning curve, there are less expensive options that might make more sense. On the other hand, more experienced flyers looking for a noticeable upgrade in camera quality and responsiveness may find better value elsewhere in the same price range.
The 5" controller screen is genuinely a nice touch and helps pull the whole package together. Not having to rely on a phone is always a plus for me… and really what you expect at this level anyway, and the live view is clear and immersive. GPS flight stability is solid, especially in calm conditions, and the 3-axis gimbal does a good job smoothing out footage when everything lines up right. Where it comes up a little short is the camera itself — yes, it shoots 4K, but the overall image quality doesn’t quite stand out from competitors at this price. Dynamic range is just okay, and low-light performance is fairly average. For casual daytime flying and sharing clips, it does the job, but I don’t think it’s going to wow more demanding users.
So why four stars and not three? Because overall, this is a capable and enjoyable drone — it just lives in an awkward middle space. It offers a solid flying experience, a great controller, and enough features to keep things interesting, even if it doesn’t fully capitalize on its price tag. If you already have some flight experience and like the idea of a built-in screen controller, this could still be a satisfying purchase.
Decent drone, solid controller screen, stable GPS performance — not quite a standout for the money, but still a good overall package.

The Contixo F29 Altura Max is a nice Drone that supports 4K photo and video quality. It has GPS with 3-Axis Gimbal, a 5" Screen Remote, 3KM Range, 23-Min Flight, and No FAA Needed. The drone comes well packaged that also includes a nice zip up carrying case with a shoulder strap. The drone comes with 2 rechargeable batteries and USB-C charging stands. The remote also charges via a USB-C cable. For some reason that remote makes an annoying high-pitched sound while charging. It fluctuates between a faint high-pitched and a louder high-pitched. I find it quite annoying. I have to charge it in a room that I’m not in. The remote has a touchscreen that’s quite functional and the touch input is good. The drone requires you to calibrate the Compass and GPS signal. It didn’t quite work for me at first, but I was finally able to complete the process. The drone is quite fast and the joystick controls are functional. There were a few occasions where the joystick direction was no function properly. The drone was going in the opposite direction of where I wanted it to go. I ended up crashing the drone into the side of my brick home. I thought the drone was damaged. Only to find out that it survived the crash and impact to the drone. I was glad to see that the drone is very well built. After turning the drone off and back on again, the joystick directions reset themselves and the directions were working again. The camera and video quality are really good. I’m glad that I’m able to take pictures and videos and save them on the included microSD card. Having the screen on the remote allows me to use the drone without having to use my cell phone. It has quite a few other features, which will be good for those that want to use additional features. Overall, it’s a good drone which I enjoy using.

The Contixo F29 Altura Max 4K GPS Drone is an excellent choice if you’re seeking premium features in a lightweight, FAA registration-free package. Despite its lightweight weight of approximately 249 grams, it boasts a 4K UHD camera with a wide 105° field of view and an adjustable tilt, resulting in cinematic aerial footage at an affordable price. The standout feature is its 3-axis gimbal, which significantly reduces shake and ensures smooth video even in moderate wind or during quick maneuvers, making it ideal for travel vlogs and landscape shots.
Another notable feature is the built-in 5-inch HD touchscreen remote. Unlike many budget drones that require mounting a phone, this controller allows you to frame shots, adjust settings, and trigger intelligent modes directly, providing a more polished user experience. GPS features such as one-key return, auto-return on low battery or signal loss, and modes like Follow Me and Orbit make flying accessible for beginners while still offering enjoyment for experienced pilots.
The drone offers a respectable flight time of up to about 23 minutes per battery and a control range of around 3 kilometers. However, serious professionals might prefer a longer flight time.
The main compromises include the absence of advanced obstacle avoidance and the fact that windier conditions can still pose challenges for such a lightweight airframe. Also, the battery fits very tight and is a pain to get in and out. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a portable 4K camera drone with genuinely stable footage and an all-in-one screen remote, the F29 Altura Max delivers strong value and an easy learning curve. I’ve used worse and I’ve used better drones; at this feature set this is a solid mid-tier drone.

The unboxing was very easy. This drone came with 2 batteries and charges. Also a nice carrying bag and extra accessories like propeller blades. Also included was a nice remote and landing pad. I charged both batteries and the controller. I charged at night and just took it out the next day so I cannot say how fast it charges but it all was fully charged in the am.
Use: The Quick start guide was hard to follow but after about 20 minutes I did get the drone properly calibrated and flying. I had issues with the control and it hit my roof fortunately so I was able to retrieve it. I did have to replace 2 blades but the included screwdriver made that a simple process.
Next steps are something you need to try a few times to get used to. I found I was turning on the drone first then the remote. Actually, I found the remote then drone to be better. Also you want the antenna parallel to the drone, so I start with them sticking out but inflight I pull them up so they are always pointing to the drone. I like the options to have it hover to record video or take pictures. I did not find the pictures real clear but they were 4k. I did think the video was pretty good during the day and steady as if flew. It was pretty amazing how professional it looked just floating around my house. I like the option to push to return home which allows me to get the drone back when I am finished.
Pros:
Video Is clear during the daylight
All the accessories needed are included
Button for take-off and landing
Cons:
Sometimes the controller loses connection with the drone and not all features work
Blades are hard to find online
Some build quality feels cheap and less durable
Stills are low quality
Summary: I will say you do not want to fly this with any wind since that makes it harder to control and you should take it out to a field or park the first time just to get used to the controls. On another flight I lost connection to the drone in that I was unable to get it to fly toward me and land. Even though I was using the controls correctly. I had to force it to hit a try to stop vs flying away.
Otherwise this is a nice drone for your first time and the lack of needing the flight registration is a bonus.

Fun and Easy to Fly

I’ve been flying the Contixo Drone for a few weeks now, and honestly, it’s been a blast. Whether you’re totally new to drones or just want something that’s fun and reliable, this one really delivers.
Right out of the box, it feels solid. The build quality seems tough enough to handle a couple of beginner bumps, and it doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy, which is good because I crashed it first time out. Fortunately it is a tough little drone because there was no damage. I love having the 5 inch screen included in the box. Not having to download an app and connect to my phone sets this apart from my first drone.
The real highlight is the camera. The 4K video quality looks great for the price point, and the 3-axis gimbal does a nice job keeping shots steady even when the wind picks up. I’ve been using it to capture some landscapes and neighborhood shots, and everything looks sharp and smooth. Even if you’re new to aerial photography, it makes your footage look way more professional than you might expect.
GPS functionality is another solid feature. It keeps the drone stable in the air and helps with the return-to-home mode, which is super reassuring if you’re still getting used to controlling it. I haven’t had any stressful “is it coming back?” moments yet.
Battery life is decent, about 15-20 minutes per charge but an extra battery comes in the box for about 40 minutes of total flight time.
All in all, the Altura Max is a really fun drone that’s easy to fly and captures awesome video for what you’re paying. It’s a great pick for beginners or for aerial photographers looking for a small travel drone, especially for the price.

Contixo F29 Altura Max 4K GPS Drone

Ok so I just received my Contixo F29 Altura Max 4K GPS Drone with 3-Axis, Gimbal and 5" Screen Remote about a week ago and have been putting it through its paces, though sometimes it felt as though it was putting me through the paces. So when it comes to things with remote controls (aside from TVs and other basic electronic gadgets), I'm a complete novice I decided to give this drone a go.
Now as you unbox, you will find everything you need included inside:
* Contixo F29 Altura Max 4K GPS Drone
* 5" Screen Remote
* 2 Batteries
* 2 Charging Docks w/ Charging Cables
* Landing Pad
* Memory Card
* Carrying Case
* User Documentation
Now before getting started you will want to fully charge up both batteries that once fully charged one battery is inserted into the underside of the drone. Once you have a fully charged battery installed, you can continue getting setup with the calibration following along in the user manual. Initially this took me a little getting used to as I stated before I'm a beginner to drones. Plus I love the fact this this particular drone does not have to be registered with the FAA like other drones. Once I completed the calibration setup process I was ready to start connecting it to the satellites. This part did seem a little finnicky with trying to get the throttle stick at 7 and 5 on the remote control. It took me a little while trying to get it to sense the connection which if not done in a few minutes times the drone out and you have to reboot and start over. But once I finally got it started beeping and it lifted up and I was overjoyed that I got it to work and then it crashed down. Again total novice here but I absolutely love this thing. I continued playing with it over the weekend attempting to familiarize myself with the rest of the controls and whatnot. This is an amazing little drone. May be a little steep of a learning curve for someone like me, however, once you understand the controls and follow along with the user manual you should be fine.

Camera quality or image resolution is great. Love capturing the scenic nature on hikes or the colors of a car show where drones are allowed. The Contixo F29 Altura Max 4k is my first drone and I was a little nervous at how difficult it might be to fly. How difficult the set up might be. I can happily report that this is a great beginner drone for the hobby/profession. There is an app you can use on your phone to control the drone. Many auto flight features or lock on to a object and follow features. The top speed is 30 mph... Don't expect to be chasing any race or rally cars with the drone but if you are looking for those nice zoom in or pan out or 360 view scenes to show off the setting or location. This drone is phenomenal. The price is competitive. The build quality and initial set up are a breeze. The remote that comes with the Contixo F29 Altura has great range for maintaining communication with the drone. So far this has been a fun addition to my outdoor hobbies. It has been fun to capture and share some of these moments with others the could not join with me on the initial activity
