The Emerson Sensi Touch thermostat is a relatively easy to setup and configure thermostat. It easily pairs with Siri/Homekit, Google Assistant, Alexa, and even Samsung SmartThings (though I didn't test with Alexa and Samsung). Though my setup is a traditional gas furnace and air conditioner setup, it's compatible with electric heat, radiant heat, and even heat pumps with auxiliary heat. Installation is a relative breeze if you're comfortable with the idea of removing your existing thermostat which can have up to 10 wires running into it with certain setups. For my setup, it was 5 wires. Keep in mind that if you have an older analog thermostat or a programmable thermostat using batteries, you may need to replace the current thermostat wire, which means calling a professional. The installation kit included also has stickers for the wires should the connections be mislabeled. The unit itself is stylish. You can also get a backplate for it if you want some contrast with your wall. Once wired up, setup is easy. It'll walk you through connecting, either via HomeKit with an iPhone or a more traditional WiFi pairing method with Android devices. You'll also need to create a Sensi account in the Emerson Sensi app; this will allow you to set the temperature from your phone, program schedules for when the system changes temperature, and helps you pair the thermostat to Google, Alexa, and SmartThings for voice assistant control. Compared to my previous smart thermostat, the Sensi was much easier to configure for WiFi and operating the thermostat itself is much easier thanks to the touch display. The only real problem I came across was due to removing my old thermostat, but once that was done, I found the installation relatively easy. It also had more features as far as controlling my cooling system is concerned, from how long my furnace blower should run to what temperature range is acceptable between runs (the temperature can vary by around 3 degrees at the thermostat where my previous thermostat would constantly turn the system on and off if it varied by a single degree). Other things that this thermostat can control are variable speed blowers, humidification, dehumidification, and multiple Sensi thermostats can be used to control multizone HVAC systems. So would I recommend this thermostat? If you want a connected and easy-to-use replacement for your older thermostat, especially one that doesn't allow for programming, then yes, absolutely. It's also a good replacement for more basic WiFi thermostats. The ease of installation and design make this unit worth the cost.

I purchased and returned this thermostat as it is very difficult to setup. We don’t have a c-wire and I tried alternative ways as given in instructions but none of them worked.

Installation was easy (step by step instructions through the app, and accounts for many different systems and setups), and I love being able to control it from my bed if it's a little too cold, or from work if I'm working late or not going straight home. Easy to program for different days and times. Works perfectly and looks sleek. Turns reddish when heat is on; haven't tested the AC yet. You can even choose the brightness for the nighttime. The only minor thing I would wish for is a "home" button for days off, but manual adjustment is easy. Highly recommended!

I have the first generation model of this thermostat and have been pretty happy with it, so I wanted to get this one for another floor in my house. My house has tri-zone heating and cooling so I have thermostats on all three floors. I have the Sensi ST75 on one floor, another brand on the main floor and added this one to my basement. Installation was pretty straight forward and didnt require calling someone out to install it for me. I’ve installed many of these between my house, in-laws and our AirBnB, so I knew what to do. If you are doing it yourself, I definitely recommend taking a picture of your old setup just in case something doesnt work right, you know how to put it back together. I primarily use Apple HomeKit and Alexa, but have some Google products as well, so the fact that it works with most of those is an added plus for me. The display is nice and clean and was pretty easy to setup since I already had one of the thermostats installed and the app downloaded. This device doesnt have some of the features that more expensive units have, but the fact that I can control it remotely is really the biggest thing for me, since I have three different ones to monitor. With a wife, three kids and my in-laws all under one roof, being able to monitor utilities is a big plus for me. I definitely recommend this unit for its ease of installation, setup and functionality.

I am really impressed with this smart thermostat. We’ve had the best in our last home and enjoyed the smart features and this one is very comparable! Install was incredibly easy and straight forward. Hardest part was shutting off the breakers and making sure the c wire was correct in our attic but if yours is already set up for the smart thermostat this will be a 2 minute project. The app clearly leads you through the process. So far the function has been great. If you set it to 71 it will cool down to 69 and let it warm to 72 before turning back on which has saved our energy bill this hot Texas summer tremendously. I also really like that it has the two mapping feature so it automatically will turn 2 degrees warmer when I leave the map around our house and begin to cool again before I arrive home. I have 2 kids and often am struggling to get everyone out of the door dressed- much less remember to turn the AC up. This is a wonderful thermostat and looks really sleek on the walls. 10/10

In 2022 it is almost uncommon to walk into a house that doesn't have a smart thermostat. From tech companies expanding their smart home product lineups to include thermostats to thermostat companies upgrading their previous lineups to be smart capable, the competition is fierce. I have had three different smart thermostats in different properties now, and the Emerson Sensi Touch Smart Thermostat finds itself in the middle of the price range and in the middle of the feature offerings. First off, install of this thermostat is extremely simple. Just as with every other smart product on the market, you download the corresponding app for the product and it walks you through everything. The Sensi app starts off by having you document your existing thermostat wiring to both verify the thermostat will work with your HVAC system and allow you to label the wires for when it comes time to install the new smart thermostat. The labels are included with the kit, which is very convenient and a staple of smart thermostats. After removing the old thermostat, the Sensi App shows you where to plug the labeled wires into and walks you through WiFi setup on your phone. From opening the box to having my Smart Thermostat installed was maybe 10 minutes. Defintely one of the easiest installs I have completed. Once up and running, operating the thermostat locally and remotely is very intuitive and a breeze. Too hot? Click the down arrow. To cold? Turn it up. Want to program a routine schedule for your house? Click the schedule icon and set it up as you see fit! One of my favorite features about this thermostat is its classic footprint, typical of most home thermostats. I have installed a competing thermostat that is the shape of a hockey puck, and although I like the round thermostat, it may leave a discolored wall behind from a wall that was painted with the classic thermostat installed. This irritated me and resulted in me trimming out the round thermostat to provide a more finished appearance. This thermostat however covered any and all areas that my old thermostat covered, thus not giving me that problem. A couple issues I have found with the thermostat mainly deal with the Sensi App. My first complaint is that if I switch from wifi to cellular data on my phone, the Sensi App becomes unresponsive. I am able to close and reopen the app and it will work without issue, but its an inconvenience. Also, I have another person that I want to grant access to this thermostat to control the temperature. I can not find anywhere in the app that allows me to share access with another user. It is possible that I missing something somewhere, but after a couple days of looking...no luck. Overall, this is a simple smart thermostat with an appropriate price point. You won't get quite the polished feel or features of the thermostats that cost $100 more, but if you just want a simple thermostat you can control from your phone, this may be it.

It was time for a new HVAC so when I got that installed I decided to upgrade to a new thermostat. Glad that I made that decision. This thermostat requires you to have a C-Wire. My old unit did not have one so I got the dealer to install a C-Wire at another time and this unit also. So I can not speak on installation but looking at the instructions given it doesn't look hard at all. Just disconnect your old wires and put labels on them and then connect to the labels on this unit. Probably recommend getting the back plate to cover up where it wasn't painted behind the old unit. I think the plate makes it look better anyway. Download the Sensi app and create an account. Now the process to connect your thermostat to your Wi-fi should be easy. However for me it kept giving me authentication errors when trying to connect. Turns out I was using special characters in my password that aren't supported through this unit. I just connected it through my guest account and then it was easy. I love the blue lighting with the silver plate. You can control the brightness of the display also. The numbers are large and easy to read across the room. There is a small led panel on the back to light up behind it. It looks cool. You can control your HVAC through this unit or the Sensi app. The Sensi app displays weather at your location. Temperature in the house and what you have it set to. It displays humidity as well. You can lock the display to keep your kids from changing it. It can be set with a short delay when the AC was quickly turned off to prevent equipment damage when turning it back on. You can also set Cycle rates to provide tighter temperature control and shorter on/off cycles. You can set service reminders in the app to change your filters and also store your HVAC dealer's phone number. You can set schedules but I don't use that. It will display summary usage report for the month. All of this of course can be done away from your home. It also uses Geofencing. This will use the location of your smartphone to automatically adjust when you are away and adjusts back to your desired temperature for a comfortable arrival. How cool is that!!

For some time now, I had been looking into purchasing a smart thermostat for our home. I got the opportunity to give the Emerson - Sensi Touch Smart Programmable wi-fi thermostat, and I am happy I did. The Emerson Smart thermostat not only looks elegant, but it comes with great features to back the looks. One of my favorites is the ability to connect it with my Google home. My existing smart home setup revolves around Google home and now my home's cooling and heating system has been integrated with this Emerson - Sensi Touch Smart Programmable thermostat. The digital display is perfect and easy to read. The color shifting display is great and lets me know when my thermostat is on, and whether the AC or heat is on. It allows for full control of your cooling and heating system with your voice, smartphone, on directly on the thermostat itself. As for installation, make sure you have the appropriate wires for installing the Emerson - Sensi Touch Smart Programmable thermostat. I completed the installation myself. Youtube was very helpful with this, as I had previously watched a bunch of videos on the process. The Sensi app also has a helpful DIY installation guide. The rest of the setup is a breeze with the Sensi app. I am really happy that I got my hands on the Emerson - Sensi Touch Smart Programmable thermostat. Having the ability to control my HVAC system from anywhere is incredible. I would definitely recommend the Emerson - Sensi Touch Smart Programmable thermostat to anyone.

The design of this thermostat is just gorgeous to look at and a wonder of functionality. You need to remove your old thermostat but take a photo of the wiring before you disconnect the wires. Then just download the Sensi app for your cell phone and it will guide you through the installation which is very easy to understand and perform. You will have to connect it wirelessly via 2.4 GHz as it does not support 5 GHz. The programming of a temperature schedule is the easiest I have ever seen. You also have some additional settings for example to control how wide the temperature range can be for the on/off cycles. The device also collects usage data so you can analyze and make adjustments to use your HVAC system more efficiency. Also data is provided on filter replacement and other information. Nice to have these features which you can review via your cell phone. I did have a minor problem and can verify that the Sensi support is both fast and the technicians are very knowledgeable - turned out the problem was my HVAC system not the Sensi. Tip of the cap to the Sensi support team – outstanding. I really nice feature is the ability to connect remotely for example from a restaurant to verify temperature settings and change the temperature and other controls. Wow, this connectivity is nice to have built-in, no additional hub needed. I would highly recommend this superb unit.

I'm slowly adding more smart home devices to my house, but this is my first go at trying a smart thermostat. Honestly, I was a little concerned with the installation, as I planned to do it myself and had never installed a thermostat before. However, I downloaded the Sensi app, and it walked me through the the step-by-step process, and before I knew it, I had I smart thermostat. It was easy to connect to my wifi and to add to Alexa. I used the Sensi app to set up schedules (cooler at night, a little warmer about half an hour before my alarm goes off. It works well with Alexa. With the record-breaking heat in my area, it's nice to be able to control the temperature from whatever room I'm in if it gets uncomfortable or stuffy. I try to keep an eye on my usage to keep my electric bill in check, and the app keeps you notified so you don't have sticker shock when your bill comes due! I hope being able to monitor the usage pays off at the end of the month. Overall, I'm very happy with this thermostat, both for the ease of installation and the great functionality.

I really like this thermostat, really easy to install, the interesting thing is the instructions are online in the app, not in the packaging. not a big deal you can go your own pace. took me about 20-30 mins to install and set up. I to close out the app and re launch to get it to connect with my wifi but not a big deal. technology always has glitches and this was my only one with this product but again tiny in the scope of things. The app is awesome I can fire up my AC remotely with the app for the pets if need be or I can set it up with GPS when it detects me 2 miles from home it will fire up the AC as well. The screen is good size and easy to ready ( i dont need my glasses to see it) it lights up well and that is adjustable also the level of brightness. Butttons and layout of controls are user friendly and really like the overall ease of install and operation of this item. Would I buy this item again ....yes that good and price make the value of this item better.

Emerson's take on the internet connected thermostat is a solid entry into the market. Sensi thermostats have been around for 5+ years and the design has not changed significantly, but the software and apps have caught up to and maybe even include some features that others do not. Installation was easy enough for me, since I've already pulled a C-wire for my older furnace that did not have a c wire pulled from it originally. Connections were simple and clear to make. I've come to expect an extended period of time for devices like these to connect to your wifi, but it did connect and has stayed connected with no blips or disconnections. My only reason for not scoring this thermostat 5 stars is the somewhat dated appearance of the bezel/surround - the arched shape isn't as slick as some others. The app downloads and installs just as one would expect, as well as creating an account and getting logged in. The Emerson App does have a few neat things I've not seen in other placed (not to say they don't exist) like monthly summaries, and a feature referred to as "temperature offset" This lets you set the thermostat to show or run the cooling/heating at a temperature offset to what it shows on the screen. They do call out this feature with this "It also comes in handy if you want your spouse to think it’s a particular temperature so he/she won’t keep adjusting the thermostat. For this instance, we suggest using this feature wisely" This is either deceitful or amusing, you decide. Overall this thermostat is a reasonable value, and does the intended job well. I wish it looked a little more modern, but the features make up for some of that. I would recommend it.

The Emerson Sensi Touch Smart Thermostat has been a big upgrade to my home in the way of being able to control my heat and air from my phone at home or when I'm at work and forget to adjust the settings before I leave. This thermostat has a sleek design and a modern background to keep you feeling hi-tech. The touch screen controls are very responsive and easy to use. Out of the box, the build quality of the thermostat feels good. It is light yet durable. It doesn't feel like it could break easily. The display screen feels solid and has a nice touch to it. Setting up and installing can be a bit much if you are not familiar with thermostats or electrical work. Always consult an HVAC professional or electrician if you are not comfortable. This thermostat requires a wire called a "Type C" in order to function correctly so you will need to check your connections to make sure you have that wire available. After installing, you will download the Sensi app, which will connect with the thermostat and provide information and control to you from your phone. It is quite handy being able to make a schedule of where the air needs to be during the day or night or what day of the week. It keeps track of your hvac usage, and will remind you of maintenance schedules. It really paints a good picture of how much you are really using your hvac system, especially if you are trying to cut costs. Overall, this thermostat is easy to control and use, it can be monitored from your device from anywhere you can be connected to the internet. It really is great to see how much the system is running and better calculate energy costs. I have no issues and would definitely recommend.

I’ll start by saying that I’m upgrading from a standard thermostat. I wanted to have a programable thermostat with an app for use when I’m not home. I have a bad memory and have a tendency to leave the house in the morning without turning the ac back up (I turn it down to 70-72 at night for cooler sleeping). When this happens I’m running the ac all day for no one and wasting electricity while running my bill up unnecessarily! Which happens almost weekly. Setup was super easy with the step by step detailed instructions on the app. I personally didn’t install it but I was there watching at for someone without a ton of experience he was able to get it done quickly and seamlessly! The screen is very bright and vibrant, which I personally love. The touchscreen is very responsive and I’ve had no issues with it. The app is also great and user friendly. I am so happy that I can now change the temperature from work or wherever I am. I will never come home on a 90 degree day to my ac pumping at 70 for no reason. I can now check the app to make sure the temp is what I want it to be. And also turn the ac down to cool it off before arriving home! I’m very happy with my new Sensi thermostat :)

The Emerson Sensi Touch Programmable Wi-Fi smart thermostat is awesome. The installation process can be handled by just about anyone, and only takes about 5 minutes. As a tip, just be sure to take a picture of the wiring on your old thermostat before disconnecting it in case you need to revert back to the old unit, that way it is a snap to put it back in. That said, the app walks you through the installation process, and the built in level mean you really only need a screwdriver for the installation process. Once installed, the thermostat is easy to use, and sports many options that are very useful. I love being able to ask Google (or Alexa) to adjust the temperature. This, and also being able to do it from the app are great. Now I don't have to get out of bed anymore when my wife asks me to adjust the temperature, I can just do it from my nightstand. My favorite feature is the Geofencing, which allows yu to control the temperature in your home based on the location of the home's inhabitants. In other words, as you leave your house, the thermostat can adjust the temperature to save you money, and restore the temperature as it detects you returning to your home.

I replaced another cheaper smart thermostat that failed on me in less than 2 years with this Sensei. The previous one I had gave me very convoluted instructions to set it up with my air conditioning unit and the wiring was extremely difficult and took me a long time. I hadn’t read many reviews on the Sensei unit, but it was much cheaper than some of the more popular brands. This made me hesitant to buy it because I was afraid it would be difficult to setup. I was pleasantly surprised that this one was much easier to setup than the previous one I had. The app walked me through the wiring step-by step without a hitch and I had it installed in about 20 minutes. There were also step-by-step instructions following the wiring for configuring this unit for my style of central air system. As a bonus, I had a technician check my system several months back because it was not heating. He had told me that the heat pump had failed and would need to be replaced. This was a very expensive repair, and I didn’t get it replaced yet because in Florida you don’t need heat very often. Come to find out after installing this Sensei unit my heat is working again! My previous smart thermostat must have been causing the heating issue all along! I really like the simple display and the large number for the temperature allows me to see it from the other side of the room. I only have a couple of small complaints with this thermostat so far. I feel like the scheduling can be much simpler. I had to watch a couple of YouTube videos to understand the concept of the scheduling, and I’m still not sure I have it setup correctly. I would like to be able to just simply tell it to turn up the temperature at the times I leave of my house and turn it down shortly before I get home and then leave it at a certain temperature on the weekends when I am home. I has all these swing temperature configurations you have to setup in the schedule, and I had to make multiple schedules just to be able to setup different times for the weekends. Maybe I’m just not understanding it completely, but it could be much simpler in my opinion. The second complaint is that I wish it had a proximity feature like my previous one had. This made it so that if I got more than ½ mile from house it would adjust the temperature. This feature was very nice for times when I would leave my house that weren’t in my schedule, and I didn’t have to remember to change the thermostat before I leave. So far, I haven’t found this feature on the Sensei unit. All-in-all this is a very nice thermostat. The simple setup is very nice, and the app is very simple and easy to use. As for the quality and longevity, only time will tell.

This new Sensi unit carries a lot of functionality over from the previous touch version of the thermostat. It offers a very sensitive touchscreen that works very responsively, and uses a "standard" Emerson footprint that should allow you to install it as a replacement for many thermostats in the same footprint on the wall. This device does require a C-Wire in the old Thermostat area, as it requires a "Constant" power source to operate. Setting up the thermostat physically is practically simple. The mounting plate provides a place to secure the thermostat to the wall, replacing previous mounting plates from your previous thermostat, and the wiring is all self-contained in an integrated wiring harness. This thing installs just like less expensive traditional thermostats. The interface is very simple, and most day-to-day controls are available on the touch screen. Its bright, but seems to stay as bright during the day or night - This can be distracting in dark rooms, as if the thermostat is in a main living space this light can be a disturbance. Touch controls are responsive, and provide all temperature, fan, and programming controls right on the screen. The app interface is largely just a phone-based version of what you see on the screen, with additional programming interfaces around setting temperature scheduling, and an interface to kick off enrollment in one of the supported smart home ecosystems (Google Home/Assistant, Alexa, and HomeKit are all supported.) I was able to test this with Google Home and HomeKit, and enrollment was simple and easy. Voice commands to both GA and HomePods in the house easily adjusted temperature and allows for a readout of current temperature from the system. This unit lacks the ability of some more expensive thermostats to work with external temperature sensors, so its not going to work for all home scenarios, but if you're just replacing a single-sensor thermostat situation, this will work well, and introduce all of the app-controlled elements and integrations with smart homes that the other guys offer.
