great way to enjoy your wine without opening
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have only used on 2 bottles so far but it is an amazing product. I recommend it especially if your cellar has several older vintages where uncorking can be difficult. It is so simple just to drive that skinny but sharp needle into the cork, pressurize with argon, and simply filling your wine glass.

Useful Wine Tool
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited to acquire and review this product because I must embarrassingly confess that I don’t know how to “uncork” wine. When in need of a bottle to be opened, I have to ask someone. Despite, trying to open on my own, I always cause the wine to spill or severely puncture the cork in trying. While I am not a wine aficionado, I do appreciate a good bottle of wine on occasion. As a result of my bottle opening deficiencies, I welcomed the Corvain Model Two Wine System with great enthusiasm. Suffice to say, I was not disappointed, the device is user-friendly. Its goal is to open a bottle without removing the cork. I think this is a unique concept because it’s efficient and cost saving in so much that after pouring of a glass or two, it seals and preserves the remainder in the bottle for later. The following are pros and cons from my experience: Pros -Easy to open the cork by piercing a tiny hole. -Amazing how the cork reseals after usage. -Preserves for later if one or two glasses are desired. - The wine doesn’t stale or flatten if consumed within a few days of opening. -Needle locks in place which steadies the pour. Cons: -The pour is rather slow. I guess anything worthwhile takes time, but be prepared for a slow but steady pour. -While an efficient and cost saving tool, the price of the Coravin is expensive and may not be with the average consumer’s budget.

Effective and easy to use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just got this product and it works as advertised. It is fairly simple to use once you figure out what the instructions are telling you. The instructions are only pictures with no description so we were scratching our heads a bit on what the drawings were trying to imply. We eventually figured it out and were able to use the system. Works as advertised, but we had questions since we have never used a product like this and eventually found FAQ's on the manufacturer's website. For example, we were not sure if we should leave the opener on the bottle or not since there was no explanation in the instructions. According to their website, the cork in the wine bottle will reseal itself which makes sense since that is the whole point of the system, but it would be nice if the instructions included FAQ's. Once you pierce a bottle with the needle, it pours rather slowly since its a very small hole into the cork, so be aware of that. We were also curious about how much replacement gas canisters are once we run out of them, they are about $20 for a pair so that will be an on-going cost. But overall the system worked well and it did preserve our wine, at least for a week which is as long as we tested it. Its fairly expensive but a good solution for those wanting to enjoy a good glass of wine without drinking the whole bottle.

Cool
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a treat for me. Thought I'd enjoy a wine more often, but I'm not a drinker, so is kind of a waste for me, but when I do have a wine it's nice to have.

Nifty
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wasn't sure what to think about the Coravin Model Two Wine System, but I am glad I decided to give it a try. It works as advertised. You use it to pour wine without removing the cork. You place the Coravin on the bottle, press down to insert a long "needle" through the cork, tip the bottle, press the gas release to pour (more presses equals faster and more sustained pour, but you have to find your pace because you have to let it keep pouring until it stops). Then retact the needle, remove the Coravin from the bottle, and rinse it. Using the Coravin allows you to drink part of a bottle and leave it corked for later consumption. There opens a variety of options. You could sample a rare wine bottle without having to drink the entire thing. You can drink a small amount of several differet wines and not worry about having to finish them off or dump them out. Personally, I am not huge on wine but enjoy a little from time to time. This means I will feel more comfortable buying more expenisve bottles, since I can easily keep them sealed. The system is easy to use and easy to clean. A few minor quibbles: 1. The argon gas cylinders are an ongoing cost. 2. If you want just a few sips, you're going to have a very slow pour. 3. Concerning the instructions, some graphics would benefit from better written explanation. Other than that, it's a nifty and useful device.

You can always have a glass of wine
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coravin Model Two Wine System Included- The system, needle cleaning tool, 2 argon cartridges, and bag for storage. The directions have a lot of illustrations, but not many words. So you have to piece together the step by step instructions on assembly and process. It is fairly easy to do though. You just have to twist an argon cartridge into place and put the cover on. Then you clamp the device around the wine bottle and push down to insert the needle. Tip the wine bottle over like you're going to pour it, making sure the wine is to the top of the bottle, covering the cork, hold it over a wine glass, and then press and release the button to release some argon. It will start pouring wine from the nozzle. Pouring can be a little tricky and may take some practice. It feels best to use 2 hands to work the device, which means you don't have a free hand to hold the glass. It may be messy pouring from the nozzle, so that takes some adjustment. There is also a learning curve with figuring out how much you need to pressurize in order to pour the right amount. The fuller the bottle, the more you have to initially pump it. But then as the bottle empties, you don't want it to overfill the glass. It will also introduce some tiny air bubbles into the wine, which may or may not bother you. Also, depending on how much of a wine snob you are, if you enjoy reds, this system is not as useful since since the decanting process is less efficient. We tried the system on both natural and synthetic corks and it worked just as nicely for both. The Coravin Model 2 is nice and convenient for those who want many different wines available but may not want to feel the pressure of immediately drinking a whole bottle of wine. You may feel like you can offer more varieties and the recipients may feel more encouraged to have a glass. It's pretty expensive so it is more of an investment, but for those with a large wine selection or those who only occasionally drink wine, this would suit you nicely in either situation.

Let's you enjoy your wine longer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coravin ModelTWO Intro I’m not a wine connoisseur or an oenophile (a lover of wine), but I like having a glass once in a while. If you love wine and love to have a variety of wine stored away then you’re going to need the Coravin ModelTWO. It lets you pour a glass at a time or, a sip or two for tasting without having to remove the cork. The Coravin wine access system inserts a hypodermic needle into the cork then pressurizes the wine bottle with argon gas which lets you extract a serving of wine. Cork has a natural elasticity so after the needle is removed, the cork reseals itself and doesn’t let air enter the bottle. Should air enter, the remaining wine in the bottle is still protected by argon gas that may have been left behind. My first attempt was with a $10 bottle of wine. Watched the Coravin Quick Start Guide on YouTube -> https://youtu.be/0qFwvjLT_Zw <- to make sure I was doing it right. I managed to extract a serving of wine. When I checked to see if it was still sealed by turning the bottle upside down, wine dripped from the small hole on the cork. Tried it on another more expensive bottle and it worked perfectly. No drip. The lesson here is that it works well on wine within the medium to higher price range. Cheaper bottles of wine seems to have lower quality cork which do not reseal well. (I have read that you can use wax to reseal a cork that did leak). It will not work on plastic corks. In reality, anyone who is willing to spend $300 for a wine dispenser is not going to buy “cheap” wine anyhow. Pros - Single serving preserves wine for long-term enjoyment - Easy to use, clean, store Cons - Pricey at $299 - Would require replacement argon gas cylinders Outro Go grab a bottle of wine, an expensive one while you’re at it and then get yourself a Coravin and enjoy your wine one glass, one night at a time until it’s dry. With every glass, it would be as if you just popped the cork.

Amazing, Unique Invention for Wine Lovers!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Coravin Model Two Wine System is a very interesting gadget, especially for wine lovers! The ability to sample a bottle of wine, or pour an entire glass without opening the bottle is something I hadn’t even dreamt of. PROS UNIQUE: I’ve never heard of this kind of device before, the ability to pour wine without removing the cork, a great invention! COST SAVING/SAMPLING: You don’t have to open and consume, or open and let wine oxidize and go to waste, you now have a choice of simply pouring a glass of wine out of the bottle without actually opening it. The ability to sample wines without committing to opening a bottle is a huge plus as well. CONS ARGON GAS: The system uses special Argon gas bottles that you have to replace. They appear to be proprietary. Overall, this adds an exciting option to my collection. I look forward to being able to sample and have a glass of more expensive bottles of wine, without the compromise of the wine oxidizing. I don’t believe I’m the target market for this device, but a more serious wine drinker/collector would definitely appreciate the advantage of this system. The device was fairly easy to setup and use. You simply clip the device onto the neck of the wine bottle, and push the needle into the cork. At first, pouring seemed counter-intuitive, as wine doesn’t flow while you’re pressing the button on the device, but it was easy to get the hang of it. The instructions that are included are fairly easy to understand, but I recommend watching the Getting Started video on their website, it helps to see the video demonstration. I’ve enjoyed using the Coravin and I’m excited to be able to indulge in trying better wines than I normally would purchase. Anyone who enjoys a glass of wine but doesn’t often find the entire bottle gets consumed in a sitting would greatly enjoy this product, I highly recommend it!
