Customers frequently mention how the Model Two Wine System preserves wine's freshness and is easy to use and clean. They appreciate the specially designed needle that is gentle on corks. However, some customers find the system to be expensive, and a few have noted that it pours wine slowly. There are also concerns about the cost of Argon gas tubes.

If you like expensive wine but don't want to drink the whole bottle, this is for you. And no more cork in the wine!!!!!!
Nicely packaged but instructions are a tad skimpy. If you go to Coravins site there are extensive instructions/videos. Once figured out it is pretty easy to use. It comes with 2 argon gas cartridges, cleaning tool and a pretty much useless carrying sleeve.
With this you can extract as little or as much as you like from a bottle over an extended period of time (not sure exactly how long that is as we only waited a few days between pours). A needle goes through the cork and the gas pressurizes the bottle (there is a little handle you push to add gas to the bottle) while protecting the remaining wine. We tried a few different bottles and the cork did heal itself each time - no leakage issues. We did not try with “fake” corks so cant speak as to how it may or may not work. We have poured over 10 glasses of wine and not used up the cartridge yet (of course this depends on how much you pour per glass – fuller pour more gas used). It is a little slow to pour but cleanup is very easy – just run water thru the nozzle where the wine comes out and it runs thru the needle too.
Seems to have quality construction so expect it to last a long time.
The only issues I have are;
It does not come with a stand.. After looking thru Coravins site there are a few different stand options of varying price. I feel it’s a little irritating that the cheapest stand wasn’t included with the product.
Also you do have to buy replacement argon gas cartridges, but you know this going in.
So over all I would recommend this for all wine connoisseurs….

A Real Money Saver

This Coravin Model Two is a godsend for dispensing your wines without ever having to open the bottle.
It does this by securely locking onto the unopened bottle and inserting a "Pour Needle" through the cork and down into the bottle. Note that this works on Natural Corks!
When you dispense your glass of wine, there is an onboard cylinder of Argon Gas that automatically fills the void in the bottle with the correct amount of gas for long term preservation of your wines as if they have never been opened.
*For those of you who may not know, Argon Gas is what the wine bottlers use when pressurizing and sealing your bottle...So this is the perfect thing to do.
-Very easy to use
-Will save you tons of money because you will not be throwing away old stale wine anymore.
-You can use from bottle to bottle so that you can sample or serve from several bottles without worry of having to drink the whole bottle in a short time. So now you can savor your wines over a much much longer period of time since it will be as if never opened! Super!
-Each guest can have their own wine choice without worries.
System does come with 2 capsules (cylinders) of the necessary Argon Gas. One downside to this is that I believe these capsules are of a proprietary nature and have to purchased accordingly at about $15 for 2 capsules
*This system, in my opinion will definitely save you a ton of money and will pay for itself in no time by not wasting your wines. Especially your expensive bottles!
I would recommend this for all wine lovers
*I believe they also have a thinner insertion needle available for use on much older and fragile corks.

Disclosure: I am a Best Buy Tech Insider Network member. I received the Coravin for evaluation purposes. The following is my fair, honest review and opinion. I have not received compensation.
The Coravin Model 2 is an unexpected item at Best Buy. It's a wine preservation system. Which means, it allows you to open and drink wine, without removing the cork and prevents oxidization of your wine by using argon (a safe, inert) gas.
This is one beautifully engineered tool. It also looks serious - it has clamps that firmly grip the bottle and a long syringe style plunger that pierces the Cork and manages the exchange of gas for wine. The argon gas pressurizes the bottle, but I never felt like there was any risk that the bottle would break. It's worth noting the Argon gas capsules will need to be replaced. I didn't drink enough during this test to give you an answer on how long a capsule would last (Coravin claims up to 17 glasses).
Wine pours smoothly and is definitely preserved well. This is not something to bring out at a dinner party unless you pouring from your private reserve. It's better suited to when you may want to open a special bottle and not drink it all in one sitting but savor it. So best suited to those that prize their wine or want to sample several in one sitting without worrying about spoilage.
It's genuinely easy to use and looks more imposing than it actually is. In our house, it's a nice addition as we never tend to drink a whole bottle in a sitting - so it will pay for itself in reducing the amount of wine that is wasted (or just used for cooking). We're also planning on getting one as a gift for our in-laws come the holiday season, which is a pretty good recommendation.

This device is very useful for the casual wine drinker to an enthusiast. It gives the option to prolong the use of a treasured bottled, or have different wines throughout a dinner. Overall it was easy to setup and use. Although not true aeration, the system introduces moderate aeration during the pour.
Pros:
Simple Use
Prolongs life of wine
Compressed Air Powered
Looks nice
I would suggest this to wine enthusiasts and those who like to consume different types of wine in one sitting. It's also nice when you only have one or two people drinking at a time. After inserting the needle, you charge with device with the air, which allows the pouring to begin.
Cons:
Slow Pour
Bulky
Have to pull trigger multiple times to pour single, standard glass.
Can be messy
Natural Cork
The device pours wine very slowly and requires multiple pulls of the trigger to pour a standard glass. Since this uses little air canisters, this could require much quicker replacement. Due to the slower pour, it will splash more on the glass than a straight pour, however this can easily be remedied with adjusting the pouring position. This device is best for natural corks, since they will reseal compared to synthetic which will leak if places on its side or upside down. Generally, most nicer wines will use a natural cork. Replacement air is OEM-only as far as I know, which drives up the operating cost. This is definitely a niche device.

Elegant Aerator and Pouring Accessory!

We love wine in my house, but we don't always entertain and sometimes we want just a glass. Getting a quality Aerator without corking is a welcome change to our typical wine wasting ways.
The product is EXTREMELY well constructed, works flawlessly on different bottle sizes, and is easy to operate once you get the hang of it.
The pour rate will be correctable with a different high-flow needle offered by Coravin. Smart stuff since different pour rates might be a preference, but at this price both should probably be included in the package.
I wish a better carrying case/storage case was made available for the device. The included bottle sheath works OK for storage of the aerator, but they make hard cases and I'd pay a little more to get one with my kit.
Overall this is an interesting product that works perfectly and should last a long time based on exceptional industrial design and quality.

This thing will literally change the way you enjoy your wine! I am a huge lover of wine and often keep many different varieties on hand. The only problem is that I only have a glass of wine maybe once or twice a week. So I will usually open a bottle, and then have to drink it over a period of a few weeks...and by the time I get to the end of it, it doesn't taste very good.
I am pretty certain this little gadget is going to change my life! It looks very sleek and elegant when you pull it out of the box. Comes with everything you need to get up and running. You literally just unscrew the part that holds the capsule, drop the capsule in and screw it back on and you are ready to go. All you have to do is just push the needle all the way down into your cork, then you tilt the bottle over your glass and pull the trigger for a second, then watch the wine just pour into your glass. If the wine slows down, just hit the trigger again and it will start to flow again. I don't think it would be possible to design a product that is easier than this to use!
After you pour your glass, you can put the bottle back on the shelf and it will remain sealed and corked till you want to have another glass. My wine rack (like most wine racks) slopes downward to keep the corks wet. When you put a bottle back in your wine rack, not even a single drop of wine leaks out from where you had the needle in the cork. It seals back up perfectly like a brand new bottle of wine!
Once your capsule runs out, you just pop a new one in and you are good to go again. They claim you can get about fifteen 5oz glasses of wine with one capsule, and I can confirm that is true.
If you are a wine lover that drinks all the time, or even drinks a glass a week...this is a must have! It allows you to drink wine the way it was intended to be. Fresh and unoxidized right out of the sealed bottle. I would recommend this a million times over...just buy it already!

I was curious to see how a wine dispensing system was able to dispense wine from an uncorked bottle and maintain freshness until the last glass. The Coravin was able to accomplish this feat, to my amazement. For the individual who only drinks a glass of wine every couple days and seeks out more pricey bottles, this device will save you money in the long run.
Setup/Instructions
Getting the device ready to use was pretty straightforward. There was a folded packet with directions from setup all the way to clean-up. It was easy to follow.
This system is only intended for use on corked bottles, not screw caps. Essentially you load the argon gas cartridge in the device, plunge the needle into the bottle, and press the trigger to release the pressurized wine from the bottle. There is a little more to it, but this is the gist of it.
I was wondering why there is a wine bag included. The instructions state is a safety bag in case the bottle breaks from the pressurized gas.
Experience
I found the wine tasted the same even after sitting in the fridge. I have tried vacuum corks before and did not notice a huge difference in the shelf life, so I was pleased with the results with this system. I did notice the pouring was a little slow. It was not that big of a deal since this system is designed for glass by glass and not for a large gathering. The cleanup was easy and just required drying off after rinsing and pressing the argon release trigger.
Pros
Easy to follow instructions
No more discarded oxidized wine
Easy to clean
Cons
Expensive cartridge replacements (about $12 each, good for about 15 bottles of wine)
Pours slowly
I would recommend this system to any wine lover with expensive taste (over $50 per bottle), but only drinks a glass or two per week. If you have any worries about the condition of the bottle, I would recommend corking the bottle to not risk breaking it.

This is the first time I've experienced a device like this and I think it's a really cool idea. Where it really shines is if you like to have a selection of good wine available to you but don't necessarily want to drink the entire bottle. The Model 2 lets you extract wine from a bottle and when you've poured what you want, you simply remove it from the bottle and it leaves your original cork intact. This allows you to sample wine from as many different bottles as you like, or have a variety available for the mood you're in.
The device itself is nicely made and sturdy. It looks well crafted and doesn't look like just a fancy wine topper. It works by pushing a thick needle through the cork, and then with the aide of Argon gas from a small canister, slightly pressurizes the contents just enough to allow it to pour out. It's very easy to clip to the top of a bottle and pushing the needle through the cork is really effortless. When you're finished pouring, it's easy to remove and rinse clean. It looks a bit intimidating the first time you use it but when you try it once, you realize just how easy it is.
The only downside (if you could call it that), is that you need the Argon canisters to make it work. I don't know how many glasses of wine each can pour, and you get two of them with this kit. It does mean however that at some point you'll have to purchase more gas canisters. These are available from Best Buy, but currently go for about eighteen dollars for a pair.
This is a really well made device and I think it serves a great purpose for people who love to have a selection of wine available, but still want to keep it sealed with the original cork for freshness. If you like to just pull the cork on a bottle and finish it, this is probably not a device for you. It does however do what it claims and seems to do it well.

There are quite a few ways to keep your wine tasting fresh, but this system seems to solve a major sticking point. Once you remove the cork, it tends to start going bad soon after. This allows you to enjoy wine by the pour, without needing to pull the cork. This is great for those who have 1 or 2 glasses of wine a day, or a couple of times a week.
Pros:
-The needle allows you to simply pierce the cork, and is removable, leaving the cork intact. It even re-seals, so there is no fear of the wine tasting bad. The gas fills the bottle, and keeps it fresh.
-Easy to use and clean.
-Keeps wine tasting like a freshly opened bottle of wine, every time. Can't stress this enough. The next couple of days, the wine tasted like we just popped the cork.
Cons: The gas capsules appear to be proprietary. They cost around $20 for a pack of two. We noticed that after about 10-12 glasses of wine, the gas capsule needed to be replaced. This can start to get pricey, but if you love wine, this may not be too much of an issue. Just be prepared to stock up.
Overall, I'm fairly impressed with the concept. It's great if you have a glass a day, but may not be the best for those who go through a bottle in one sitting.

I debated on 4 or 5 starts but decided on 5 starts. I decided on 5 stars after determine the item does exactly what it is stated and has a bigger purpose than being a cork screw. This product is ideal for those who want a glass of wine but don't intend on finishing the bottle for several days or more. It does exactly as stated. once you attach/insert the device, wine is dispensed. When you remove the Coravin, the remaining wine left in the bottle does not leak out, even if you tip the bottle upside down. I would not use this to replace a corkscrew ( you can) or if you plan to finish the bottle of wine. It does require a cartridge of argon gas (included) to operate. Where it is helpful if you want the occasional glass or you finish a bottle and want a little more. The Coravin is easy and simple to use. It is small and comes with a storage bag.
