Customers frequently mention how the Model Two Wine System preserves wine's freshness and is easy to use and clean. They appreciate the specially designed needle that is gentle on corks. However, some customers find the system to be expensive, and a few have noted that it pours wine slowly. There are also concerns about the cost of Argon gas tubes.

This is cool! Although the instructions were a little vague, I managed to get this working within just a few minutes. I typically drink white wine so this is perfect for red that I only want an occasional taste of. It works just as it says it will and I love being able to put the bottle back in my wine cooler knowing it will be just as good the next time I want a sip. The only issue I had is that one of my bottles had an artificial cork and when I removed the device I had some dripping from the hole. I went to their site and discovered: "While a synthetic cork closure will not damage your Coravin Needle, the closure will not reseal, and thus permit oxidation after some time. If you access a bottle with a synthetic closure, store it upright to ensure that it does not leak." As suggested, I put he bottle upright and put a piece of tape over the hole. I am willing to put up with this for the other conveniences. Perhaps this is my excuse to get better wine with a natural cork as waste will never be an issue. For natural cork it is perfect!! Happy drinking.

Great investment, that will pay for it's self time and time again. Works as advertised. This truly is a game changer in wine drinking. Have a special bottle you have been saving for the right occasion? Well guess what, today is that day have a glass with out fear of the whole bottle going bad. Opens up options, makes it more feasible to pair with your appetizer, main meal and dessert. The first glass taste the same as the last with coravin. And it's a lot easier to use then I though it would be. Doesn't take very much effort to push the needle through the cork at all. If you like fine wines and can't always finish the whole bottle in one night this will pay for it's self very fast. A must have for wine enthusiast.

What a great looking product with quality packaging. But what!! No longer opening a bottle of wine, now removing wine from the bottle and being able to enjoy the wine later is fantastic. Has a great look and solid feel to it as well. So far five out of five bottles have re sealed themselves (the cork) with zero oxidation. No more pooring wine down the sink or drinking the rest of the bottle because you feel bad pooring it down the sink haha. If you enjoy wine on a daily or every other day basis, or shoot even here and there then you need this Corvain model 2 for your home.

This is a great product for those who spend $$$ on wine! or even when you don't!! It allows you to drink 1 glass at a time if you want without worrying that the wine will go bad before you can finish the bottle. Set up was easy and instructions are easy to understand as well. Insert a needle into the "cork" - not the synthetic type, and you are able to pour a glass at a time. Argon gas replaces the air that fills the bottle when wine is poured. It is an amazing concept someone should have thought of years ago! The gas cartridges are on the expensive side when you need to purchase more.

The device while high end in price, the build and accessories do not seem to reflect high end material but the overall finish is still very good. The concept of sampling your wine and coming back weeks later or more to resample and hoping to experience the same tasting as the first is seriously hampered by oxidation. The Coravin elimates this issue and does so admirably. The reason for the four stars is that it work very well on natural cork but much less so or not at all on synthetic corks. I myself am the only constant wine drinker in my house averaging a glass or two a day, by the end of the week, the taste even from my measly 20-40 dollar bottle is dramatically different. This device is simple to use, pours at a decent rate and preserves the taste from the first glass to last glass poured to be highly identical in tasting. An ingenious product, I just wished it worked on synthetic corks and that the price of the capsules will hopefully get lower. But all in all, still cost effective even for some one whose wines average about twent to forty dollars a bottle, to savor the taste of opening a bottle for the first time weeks or even months later after it was first sampled from is fantastic.

I am in love with my Model Two Coravin system! It is absolutely amazing and has been one of the best purchases I've made this year. It has been worth the investment as I have been able to have the wine I love whenever I want, and I can drink anything I want at any time. I am even loving the complements my guests have been giving me from my parties and BBQs since I bring out multiple wines and the Corvain allowing them to try so many new wines in one night. This product is seriously a game changer if you enjoy wine!

This is absolutely incredible, Drink wine WITHOUT REMOVING THE ORIGINAL CORK!! It's almost like magic. The unit has a thin needle that goes all the way through the cork and allows you to pressurize the bottle with pure Argon Gas, And that pressure allows you to decant the amount of wine you want while preserving the remaining for what they say is up to 90 days, But I don't see any reason it wouldn't last longer. This is perfect if you wish to taste test a number of bottles without having to worry about them all going to waste because you can't drink them all before the go bad. While it does take a bit longer to dispense since it has to travel through such a small opening to go through I think that is a small price to pay for being able to save it for much longer times. I did have one cork that lost it's seal I think it was mainly due to it being such a old cork and it wasn't in the best condition to begin with, So that may be something to look out for but I can't be sure since it was only one time. The only other negative thing is the cost of the Argon Gas Tubes. Since Argon Gas isn't regularly sold in these small tubes like CO2 is (but we don't want sparkling wine) until they become more available we are at the mercy of the only supplier for refill bottles, But luckily a tube does last pretty long.

Coravin keeps the taste of my wine intact

The Coravin is a product designed to draw wine from the bottle, and keeping the remainder instact so you can save the bottle for another ocasion. For this purpose it uses a needle that puncture the cork and once is done, it pressures the bottle with inert argon gas. Taking advatage of the pressurizing, the wine is pour through the same hole using the needle that goes into the cork. It is simple process, but it is designed to keep the taste of the wine intact. To assembly the unit is very simple, there is a instructions single page that explains easily what to do. I did some test, carefully tasting the wine using the Coravin product to extracted of the bottle, and then after a while I opened the bottle with the regular corkscrew. And the taste was preserved intact. This product convinced me, It is worth it for the wine lovers who really appreciate the the taste of a good wine.

Wow. Where has this been all my life. I hesitate to open a bottle of wine if I know it won’t be finished within a few days. No longer is that an issue. This is genius. It uses a tiny needle to pierce the cork and allows you to extract a glass at a time and then reseals when you pull the needle out. Can’t say enough good things about this. Only drawback I suppose is you have to keep a supply of the gas tubes on hand as it uses that to pressurize the bottle to help you extract the wine. I would give this as a gift to any wine lover. A must have.

System actually works, and changes drinking habits

The Coravin Model Two Wine System purports to give wine lovers the freedom to pour any wine, in any amount, without removing the cork. It is able to do this by using a thin needle to puncture the cork and draw wine, that when removed allows the cork to naturally reseal itself. It also leverages argon gas to reduce the chances of oxygen entering the bottle during use, which would lead to oxidation. I've been using the Model Two for close to a month now, and it does seem to work as expected. In the past, I would use different wine stoppers when a whole bottle is not consumed, and while it did help, there was a change in taste days or a week after opening. With the Model Two, I have been moving between 5 bottles and the taste seems the same in the month since starting. The Model Two is relatively easy to use, especially since you no longer need to use a corkscrew to remove the cork. Supposedly it isn't expected to work well with synthetic corks, but a few of the bottles I've used it on have synthetic corks and seem to be fine. I believe each argon gas capsules is supposed to be good for 15 glasses each, but I'm still on my first capsule. I don't drink a full glass of wine each time, so that could be the reason. Replacement capsules are a little under $20 for a pair, which doesn't seem too bad. Overall, the Coravin Model Two delivers on its promises, and really has changed the way we enjoy our wine collection.

    For That Special Bottle

My taste (and budget) really don’t require having a lot of expensive bottles of wine on hand at any given time. Nor do bottles often remain unfinished at the end of the night. That said, we do have some special occasion bottles that we save for…special occasions. These are often shared with friends around holidays, birthdays, Fridays or any other excuse to have a nice bottle of wine. There’s something to be said though for wanting to sample a glass without worrying about the bottle going bad. You can have a glass without needing to finish off the bottle in a couple days (or hours if that’s your thing). With the Coravin, that special bottle can now be that special glass. How does it work? The Coravin clamps around the neck of the bottle. A long needle (you wouldn’t want to see this in the doctor’s office) pierces the cork. A quick hit of the trigger injects argon gas to displace the liquid coming out as you pour. This keeps any oxygen away from the wine which will help keep it fresh until the next time you want a glass. The first pour was pretty slow as there wasn’t much room for the argon to displace. The second pour was actually a bit faster than I expected given the size of the hole in the needle. On our test bottle, the cork took a bit to seal back up, but eventually it did. I chatted with our bartender friend about the Coravin and she uses it in the bar in her restaurant for nicer bottles. A lot of places will require you to buy the bottle once you get to a certain price point, but this allows them to sell by the glass. Needless to say, it’s been a good investment for them. If it can withstand daily use in a bar, there's no reason to think it wouldn't last in your home. Would I recommend this to a friend? That’s a tough call. Most of my friends are too broke to afford nice bottles of wine. If you can afford it, this is a great addition to your bar.

Can't Believe Something Like This is Possible

Wow, My expectations for this were high to begin with, as it had the lofty claim of making wine drinkable for an unlimited amount of time, "wine by the glass, without uncorking it." Crazily enough, this thing works, and works very well. My wife and I tried it with 5 different bottles of wine, over the course of three weeks, and the results were fairly shocking. Long story short: every bottle, save for one that was a half-carbonated red wine (don't use sparkling, as advised), was perfect every night we drank them. All uses were spread out over the three weeks, using the same bottles. All tasted exactly the same, if not very very close to it (I'm no expert, but I can recognize once wine has turned). The device uses a gas that essentially keeps the wine's properties intact while slowing pouring a liquid from a small incision in the cork. Sure, the thing pours slow (about 4 squirts to actually obtain a glass), but the process is worth it. Extra cartridges are roughly $20 for two, and each one is quoted at 30 glasses of a 5 oz pour, which is good value in my opinion. The only con? Looks sort of weird, and can take up space. But if you're like my wife and I who don't necessarily want to finish a whole bottle in one night, this is an amazing device. The cost should surely outweigh any over-drinking nights, or wasted wine. Bravo, Coravin.

Just got this product and it works as advertised. It is fairly simple to use once you figure out what the instructions are telling you. The instructions are only pictures with no description so we were scratching our heads a bit on what the drawings were trying to imply. We eventually figured it out and were able to use the system. Works as advertised, but we had questions since we have never used a product like this and eventually found FAQ's on the manufacturer's website. For example, we were not sure if we should leave the opener on the bottle or not since there was no explanation in the instructions. According to their website, the cork in the wine bottle will reseal itself which makes sense since that is the whole point of the system, but it would be nice if the instructions included FAQ's. Once you pierce a bottle with the needle, it pours rather slowly since its a very small hole into the cork, so be aware of that. We were also curious about how much replacement gas canisters are once we run out of them, they are about $20 for a pair so that will be an on-going cost. But overall the system worked well and it did preserve our wine, at least for a week which is as long as we tested it. Its fairly expensive but a good solution for those wanting to enjoy a good glass of wine without drinking the whole bottle.

First, check out Coravin's website to get useful information. The instructions included with the product are not the easiest to understand and much information is missing (do you leave the needle in the cork after pouring, do you turn wine on it's side or leave it standing, etc). Luckily I spoke to a wine maker who uses this system and he shared some great tips and tricks (extract the needle when done pouring and keep the bottle upright (less gas on surface of wine). As for the use, it works as advertised. It's easy to use and cleans easily. The wine does pour out slower, as expected, and sometimes will "sputter" spraying a little wine from the nozzle. I learned to ensure the nozzle is below the rim of the glass and it works fine with no mess. There is to be expected an occurring cost on the gas cartridges (please recycle them and don't throw in a landfill), but the system should just be used on a bottle you just want one glass from every once in a while. No need to use the system if the bottle will be emptied within a day or two. As for preserving the wine, I poured a glass 2 weeks after using the system for the first time on the bottle and the taste of the wine was preserved.

The Coravin Model 2 is easy to use, and works great. I drink wine on occasion so it is great to have a glass and be able to put the bottle back for a few weeks to drink later while preserving the freshness. I wish it could pour a little quicker, but not a huge deal considering the size of the needle and the resealing capability of the cork. It comes in the most handy if you don't intend to finish the bottle. It is also very sleek and easy to clean. Just don't lose the needle cap. Overall as I mentioned I would recommend this for those who are enthusiast that like to hold wine tastings, or those who only want a glass or two out of a bottle with longer amounts of time until the next glass.

I cant say as I'd ever considered getting something like this, but now that I have it, I'm not sure how I enjoyed my wine without it. It makes enjoying the glass or the bottle so much easier, and I dont have to worry about whether it will keep if I dont drink it in time. It's very easy to use and people ask about it when I use it to poor, so it makes for an interesting conversation starter, especially when it comes to the argon gas used to keep the wine preserved. It's really quite ingenious the way it works. The only down side to this is that the argon canisters are quite a lot more expensive than I would have hoped, especially for the limited use they provide. Were they more affordable (or rechargeable) it would easily be a 5 star item. But really, by the glass or by the bottle, this is something every wine lover should consider.

The Coravin Model Two Wine System setup was easy breezy. All I needed to do was to insert the canister of gas and tighten its holder to pressurize the device. It easily pushed through the wine cork multiple times without any cork damage. I did notice that one out of two bottle’s dripped, when I turned them upside down to check if they were still vacuum tight. I cannot say if that is a failure or not for the Coravin Model Two Wine System. It does allow me the opportunity to taste my wine without removing the cork and without causing any cork damage. It is a great device for wine tasters that wish to preserve the aging process of their wine.
