    Great looks, average results

Fit into the shape of this round orb like design is really an amplified HDTV indoor antenna. The style is very nice and would fit into just about any decor without being unsightly. LED display ring on the front shows when you have a strong or weak connection to a signal, so it's helpful to visually see that in order to ensure you're getting a strong signal for maximum Over The Air channels. The amplified signal helps to boost signal reception. In the box you get the antenna, COAX cable and electrical plug. Amplifier is built in and this antenna states it has a 3G/4G/5G LTE Filter that potentially helps to keep your signal distortion free. My results with this antenna were just so so. I live about 30 miles outside of a major metropolitan city and couldn't get a solid signal. Was able to pick up 1 FOX station, but the other major networks only would come in distorted or not at all. Tried various locations on my TV stand and nearby, but couldn't achieve a strong signal. Maybe if I could mount it higher or onto a window or wall it would get a stronger signal, but that's where the design was limiting me from being able to place it elsewhere. Unfortunately it wasn't the solution I was hoping for in order to obtain OTA signals as needed. Was hoping for a strong signal within 80 miles as the box states, but maybe I would achieve better results if I lived within 15 miles of a TV tower. The design is nice and it looks like a smart speaker from various other brands, so it's a great design for most.

Hi JKinSYR, channel reception will vary depending on what’s broadcasting in your area, how far you are from broadcast towers, and your surroundings (i.e. obstructions between you and the towers). Move or rotate your antenna and re-run a channel scan. You may receive more channels by moving your antenna to another location. Average Indoor Antenna

    Posted .

Unfortunately, like many indoor antenna’s , this one is not much better. The look is good, but it’s a bit awkward to put on a table or up high like on a mantle but it is doable. Installation is straight forward, you screw in the coax cable from the antenna into your tv and use the power plug to provide power. Once powered on, there are 3 lights that can illuminate on the front based on the signal strength it is receiving. You then go into your tv settings and do a scan for channels. The antenna boasts an 80 mile range which is quite large for an indoor antenna. I am only about 25 miles (air wise) from most all the major local providers antenna signals. I was still only able to get 1 out of 3 bars lighted on the unit. Despite that, I was still able to get 40 digital channels. Unfortunately, only NBC and Fox were available consistently, CBS and ABC would not stay and were pixilated. Part of my issue too is that I live in a lower area and not elevated enough to break through the dense tree lines in our area. Overall, I would find this useful in those times where my internet is out and I don’t have access to streaming services and would need to rely on an antenna to get local channels. I cannot recommend it as a full replacement for getting a solid set of your locals unless your physical and location supported that.

    Nice little antenna

    Posted .

I decided to test this antenna to see if it would pull in more channels than the one I'm currently using. I'm in a rather mountainous area, so most of the indoor antennas I've tried have reliably picked up about 20 channels. Setup took about 5 minutes. The antenna is a round plastic base about 6" in diameter, with a cloth covering on the top; it looks more like a speaker than an antenna. It has a small footprint which is nice since it's on my office desk. There are three white LEDs in middle of the cloth covered area which show signal strength as the base is rotated. Once I had the antenna hooked to the TV and plugged it, it was just a matter of turning the base so the three signal strength indicators were solid white. The antenna worked great; it wound up pulling in 22 channels. It pulled in one additional channel compared to the other antenna, but it also allowed access to six channels that the other antenna had to be moved/turned to actually view, and sometimes even then they weren't watchable. All in all, I'm very pleased with this antenna. Setup is super easy, it doesn't take up much space, and it works.

Picks up the channels I was missing!

    Posted .

This is one good-looking antenna. The plastic white casing, together with the grey fabric makes it look like an indoor speaker. The signal indicator shows up nicely through the cloth without being overly bright. It simply looks classy in my opinion. Hooking it up is rather easy -just plug the included power pack into an outlet and connect the coax RF connector to the TV’s input. Then, run the TV’s channel scanning. I am glad that the coax cable is almost 10ft, as I have a 75” TV. I do wish the power cord was a bit longer, though. Now, I did have to mess around with distance, angling, and positioning, but I was able to get at least one strength indicator to stay solid. I already had a pretty good antenna before, so I was happy to see that the Core added 4 more channels when the scanning was finished. I especially had problems with the lower frequencies (horrible where I live), where I was not able to pick up the lowest channel (2), and had major breakup with the other lower channels (5-7). Even though I was never able to get all three indicators, I experienced minimal disruptions. One can always get an extension coaxial cable for best placement, but that goes for any other antenna I have tried. In the end, I am satisfied with the Core Innovations antenna. It looks good, is easy to set up, works better than my last one, and does not break the bank.

    Game changing indoor antenna

    Posted .

I have tried so many antennas and I could never bring all of my local channels in. I tried various locations to gain a missing channel, just to lose another one. This changed everything. I can bring in all of my local channels, plus some that I didn’t even know were available. The reception and picture quality is very good. I found that a local channel had changed its frequency, so remember to rescan for channels when you install this. I have so many channel choices now and will finally be able to cut the cable. The device has a great lit up signal indicator, making it easy to determine the optimal location for the best signal strength. It takes the guesswork out of finding the right place to set it. Finally, it looks nice in the room. No more extending antenna wands pointing in various directions. I have it set up on top of a speaker and it works great.

    Reliable TV Antenna

    Posted .

I’ve had this antenna hooked up to my bedroom TV for about a week now and it’s been reliable for picking up over the air channels on my TV. I don’t pay for cable so I rely on the local air channels for news and TV. This antenna is a great option for those who don’t want to pay for an expensive cable plan. The antenna is small and looks nice on any tv stand or furniture. It is small enough so it isn’t an eyesore and the built in light is a great way to know if you have a good signal. When all 3 lights are on you have an excellent signal. It also has its own power supply to boost antenna strength. Would I recommend this antenna? Yep! If all you want is your local channels and a few basic network channels to compliment your streaming plans. Channels come in clear and even support full HD on some networks.

Core Innovations indoor antenna gets the job done

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.

The Core Innovations indoor tv antenna has performed as expected. The Fox affiliate in our has a poor signal and our prior antenna had stopped picking up the signal. Bought our new antenna and hooked it up to our tv. Installation was easy and after rescanning channels, the Fox affiliate came through clearly. Good thing is rather than having to hang on a window, the antenna sits comfortably on top of a bookcase near the window. All in all, a good buy.

Surprisingly good, and great customer service!

    Posted .

I will begin by saying that I received this product as part of the Tech Insider Network. I chose this item because I am looking into all of my options when I drop cable TV at the end of my contract (very soon), as I am tired of paying for over 100 channels I don't watch anyway. I have been doing a lot of research and educating myself on antenna technology. I have even purchased a completely different antenna many months ago to see what channels I could pick up. My journey did not start well. When the product was shipped to me, it go lost in a FedEx black hole and was not delivered after 2 weeks. This issue eventually got resolved after another one was sent. Read on about further troubles! I chose this specific model because I really liked the aesthetic of it. I looks like a modern smart speaker and it seems like it would actually look good on a shelf as an accent. However, I was curious as to whether a device shaped like this could actually receive very good reception. DO YOUR RESEARCH This is where doing your homework pays off. I understand a lot about the distance from a broadcast station, line-of-sight, and the difference in VHF and UHF signals. I have been learning about the structure of an antenna and optimal placement in the building. I looked up my zip code at www.AntennasDirect.com and learned that a large number of the stations available to me are right about 25 miles away. A few more were slightly more. I also learned that most of the stations, especially the ones I was most concerned about like ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC were all on the UHF band, so I should hopefully have a better chance of picking them up. I live in a town house that has another home on either side, so the front and back of my house are the only places in my house I can test. Most of the broadcast towers in my area are to the southeast, so I tested the device in both the front and back of my house, but as the front of my house faces due west, I knew that the back of the house would have a better shot of picking up the signals. I was absolutely correct. I could not pick up much of anything in the west-facing front part of my house, but the east-facing back side was much better. CUSTOMER SERVICE I tested the device in the front first, as I had low expectations. Not surprisingly, I did not pick up almost anything. I unplugged it and moved the device to the back of the house. to position the antenna as optimally as possible, I sat it on a chair in front of the bedroom window, which is also on the second floor, placing it a bit higher off the ground. I was surprised at the number of channels I received, and so decided to actually position it on the table where the bedroom TV sits. It's not far from the window, but I wanted to see if that degraded any of the signal and caused me to lose channels. I unplugged the device and heard something rattling inside, which I did not remember hearing previously. As I continued to move it, suddenly the rattle inside became something heavy inside. I plugged the device in, the signal meter lit up for only a moment, then went out. The unit was dead. I no longer had any reception at all. As mentioned, I was provided this device for review purposes, and having already been impressed, was determined to fully test it. I reached out to Core Innovations and they quickly responded and sent me a new one. They were extremely friendly and professional in their response and made sure I was taken care of quickly. It's taken me a long time to be able to write this review, but read on to see why I felt it was worth it. Two thumbs-up for their customer service! PERFORMANCE I have to say that I was impressed and a little surprised by the performance of this device. The shape is aesthetically pleasing, but seems to defy the rules when it comes to antenna. I was disappointed at first by the use of an RG6 coax cable instead of an RG11. If you don't know what that means, physically the RG11 coax cable is thicker than the RG6, which means it can provide better reception in less than ideal settings, such as a longer distance from the broadcast tower or numerous obstacles in your path, such as trees, buildings, mountains, etc. However, this device does include a signal booster in it, and I think that makes a big difference. I was able to pick up around 30 different channels. Not surprisingly, I was not able to pick up any VHF channels, as that requires as that requires the long "stem" on the antenna due to the nature of VHF radio waves. For me, this wasn't a a problem as the key channels I was looking for all broadcast on UHF frequencies. I had trouble with the local NBC station, as it went in and out, but ABC, FOX, and CBS all came in clearly, along with many more. I should also mention that I was getting these results with only one of the three signal meter lights lit up. Most of the stations that I was able to pick up were 25-30 miles away. I have additional stations that are 43 miles away, but they all broadcast on VHF signals, so I was not able to pick up any of those. I cannot verify the claim of an 80 mile range, as I don't have any broadcasting stations near that distance. I live in the suburbs, and I was able to pick up almost all of stations broadcasting from the major city I am near. RECOMMENDATIONS This is strictly an indoor antenna. If you live in an area where the broadcast towers are rather far away, you are in an area of dense trees, or have high geography between you and the broadcast towers, you may not have much luck with ANY indoor antenna. An outdoor or at least an attic model will likely perform better for you. However, if you are closer to the towers (say, 50 miles or less) and especially if you don't have the option for an outdoor antenna (such as an apartment or an HOA that prevents such contraptions!), this antenna is worth a try! However, take the time to do a little research about the channels in your area so you have at least some idea of how many you can potentially receive and you can set your expectations. This is the perfect little antenna to pick up free local broadcasts while looking really cool on your table/shelf!

    Reasonable antenna

    Posted .

I received this item at no cost through the best buy tech insider network to test and give my unbiased opinion. I elected to test this antenna not because I thought it would give me an advantage over other antenna, but because of the design. It is a ball a bit larger a softball that can sit In my window sill or on my dresser top without having to be hung up or lay flat awkwardly as my other flat antenna panels I have are. The signal on those are rated at 80 miles like this, but they were about half the cost of this, and that is why I have purchased those first, affordable and available. Additionally something like this I have not seen before, other than some soundbar like rectangle ones. This connects easy and sit nice and stable on my window sill. It has an indicator circle that is up to 3 white bars (forming a circle) telling me I have it at optimal placement. That being said at my primary residence this got none of the 3 PBS stations I can get on good nights, but neither did my old antenna. I live about 90 miles from other network towers in all directions, so the digital upgrade in 2008 made free air TV difficult for people in my area. At my secondary residence that is within about 50 miles of major network signals, I have gotten up to 49 channels with my old antenna on a clear winter day in late December last year. So far this has only matched the signal of my old ones on the days I tested, which is no signal, no channels. That us why I do have cable in my main rooms, but in my bedrooms and guest rooms we do not In all of them. All in all, the extra cost i would say is justified if you like the design and ability to place this differently, but not necessarily as much as thus is different. I want to note that this does have a heck of a rattle in it, like a flat piece of metal flips around inside when it tilts, I'm not sure if that is normal and it effects performance. But i see other reviews that mention the same thing and they they returned it. I do have an email into the testing contacts so see if they can find out if effects performance, and they have contacted the company, but I have not heard back yet. From what I can see it does not compared to my old antenna, but not sure if it could do more. But again, no signals on either antenna these nights. The guidelines for my review were to try and post my review within 3 days of receiving the item, and I did test on all 3 nights, no gains, but no losses from my old units.I wish my testing time was longer so I could update you on the rattle and if that means this is broken. I give this a neutral 3 stars, would be 2.5 if I could, not good nor bad, just the same reception wise (possibly). Cost only partially justified because of design, it should be picked up at current sale price instead of msrp.

    Good, but pricey

    Posted .

The Core Innovations Indoor Antenna is a sleek and surprisingly serviceable indoor antenna. It features a LED reception strength indicator, an internal signal amplifier and a design that would make you think it's a smart speaker. It looks well-constructed, with a fabric mesh sort of cover, detachable power adapter and a lengthy (non-detachable) coaxial cable. For all of this though, it's price point seems a little steep for what's in the box. I am using this antenna as a replacement for a flat "leaf" style antenna. While the flat antenna gave me access to more channels, the Core Innovations antenna gives me stronger signals to all the main channels. This antenna doesn't pick up the multiple HSN, QVC and Spanish language channels that the other one did, but instead provides a much more stable connection to the major broadcast networks, as well as PBS and the CW, which I could rarely tune into previously. For me, this tradeoff in channels is perfect, as I have no use for HSN, QVC or Spanish language stations. The main reason I chose this antenna was its physical appearance. My flat antenna was always kind of an eyesore, but this smart speaker look blends in well with our decor. To get a decent signal we had to place the old antenna in our front window, which looked silly. The Core Innovations antenna sits right on our tv stand and almost disappears, as if it's just another piece of audio equipment. Luckily (and unluckily) for me, the strongest signal is with the antenna facing forward. If my tv were on the other side of the room, I'd have to place the antenna with its back facing out, which looks a bit messy with cords. I say unluckily too, because the LED signal strength indicator lights cannot be turned off. The lights are not terribly bright, but they're also not terribly subtle. I would be especially annoyed if I didn't have a strong enough signal to light up all three lights, which show as sort of an incomplete circle. Unfortunately, antennas being as they are, every living space offers unique challenges. I live within 15 miles from all the major network broadcast towers in my region and I don't have a lot of the things that could disrupt signals in my neighborhood, like tall trees or cellphone towers. So, while this antenna does the job for me, you may struggle to get any signal at all. I feel like indoor antennas are great examples of what exchange policies are for. If this one doesn't work for you, take it back and try another.

    Looks better than most antennas

    Posted .

The antenna looks much more modern than most antennas, although I would say that the range is not as good as a wall mounted one unless you have ideal conditions. My existing flat wall mounted antenna was picking up 45 channels, this picked up 37. HOWEVER, the caveat to that is that of the 45 channels, probably 15 were duplicates coming in from other cities and they were poor signal quality so I didn't use them. Of the 37, there are still some duplicates that I don't use. So is the 80 mile range accurate? I guess that depends on the geography and terrain around you. I use the antenna because we cut the cord 2 years ago and just do streaming. We have an AirTV and Sling so the antenna feed puts the over the air channels right in our guide and allows for DVR recording. The signal comes in well with this antenna and it looks a lot better sitting on a shelf than having a black square on the wall. The LED indicators are a nice touch to see if you've placed it in a spot with a good signal. Mine has all 3 lit up so it's getting good reception. Overall, this is a good solution if you live in an area with decent reception already. If you're struggling with other indoor antennas, this isn't going to help you. You probably need an external antenna or one mounted in the attic. If you're getting good reception with an indoor unit already and want something that looks modern and less intrusive than a square hanging on the wall, this is a good solution. If they could make it a little smaller in size and also have a way to turn off the indicator lights, that would be 5 stars. Overall, it's worked well in my application so I would recommend it depending on the situations I mentioned above.

a good looking antenna for free TV

    Posted .

This is the first TV antenna I have ever owned that doesn't look like an antenna. It's white, round, a little smaller than a volleyball, and thanks to the front mesh layer. With the blue lights, it almost looks like a smart home device. Setup is easy, plug in the antenna to your TV, connect the included power supply (9V) to it, and position it to what will get you the best result. This is where the blue lights on the front do help. They're actually signal strength indicators, saving some of the guesswork in how to orientate and put the antenna. The power is because this is an amplified antenna, which is useful if you live somewhere with a weak signal. Although there is a slight miss, the included power adapter has a 6-foot cable and the antenna coaxial cable is 9 feet. This means you can't use the maximum length and get the height/distance you need if you need an amplified signal. A small oversight. I connected this to my Hisense TV and tested and was able to pick up all of the free TV channels in my area. I would encourage you to make sure you test this on channels that broadcast in HD. HD offers much better quality. I live in a part of the state with a reasonably good TV signal and found that this gave me better results than what I was using previously (one of those flat paper-thin unamplified antennas). Always remember the quality of your picture is a factor of the broadcast transmission, your antenna, and TV. So a better antenna can help but if your local broadcast isn't HD, your picture quality will look so-so. Overall, it's a good unit and does what it says and looks great. It's close to being Excellent, just needs a longer power cord that matches the coaxial cable length so I could position it on the highest shelf next to my TV.

    Nice picture quality, but...

    Posted .

The core innovations indoor antennae is a very attractive indoor antennae. The core product provides a nice clear picture and excellent sound from the channels it is able to tune in. The reason for only 3 stars is this. Connected to my Sony Bravia 65 inch tv, with what I believe is a good quality tuner, I was only able to tune in about half of the stations that I expected to be able to tune. I am located 35 miles from 4 major stations. My house is located on a high spot with a clear path in the direction of these stations. I am able to tune in as many stations with some other flat indoor antennaes as I have been able to with this one. I have tried different locations, but the built in signal strength indicator still only shows 1 out of 3 bars. I have not been able to improve reception or tune in additional channels with this unit. Core innovations claims an 80 mile range, but I assume conditions must be much different than what I have at my house. If you are in range of your local stations, the quality of the picture and sound from this antennae is really good and it is a nice looking piece of tech, but for me, it just didn't tune in the number of stations that I feel it should have been able to pick up. If you are in an area close enough to the stations, it is worth giving a try.

Hi Beefrob, the number of channels will vary from location to location. Generally, if you live in or near a metropolitan area, you will receive more channels than if you live outside a metropolitan area. Keep in mind that antenna reception may vary based on terrain (including trees, buildings, hills and mountains). The fewer the obstructions, the better your chance of receiving strong digital signals. Please connect your antenna to the power supply. Make sure the indicator light turns on. The LED lights indicate the signal strength – with one light indicating a weaker signal and three lights indicating a strong signal. Please test your antenna in different locations or at different angles, making sure to run a channel scan every time you move your antenna. Sometimes moving a few feet can make a big difference. At your earliest convenience, would you please email us at support@dpaudiovideo.zendesk.com or give us a call at 1-833-909-2673 to discuss. We hope to hear from you soon.

Does a good job for the size

    Posted .

The Core Innovations HD TV indoor antenna has good strength, doesn’t take up much space, and looks good on the shelf. The first one I had didn’t work well and sounded like it was broken inside. I was able to get a replacement quickly and got it up and running right away. Using the coax connection on the back of my plasma TV, I plugged it in ran the antenna set up so that it could go out and search for stations. With the exception of CBS, which is known to be a weaker signal in my area, everything I was expecting was programmed in. There are multiple stations within each of the big networks which allow for alternate programming which is a nice bonus. The signal indicator on the front of the device helps you position it in the most appropriate place for the best result. The cords are very long and make it convenient to place it further from the TV if necessary. Overall, it works as expected and looks good. If you are in need of making sure you get every possible station, you may need to look at larger or external antennas, for me, this is perfect.

    great inside antenna

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.

I returned the first one because something was rattling inside so it was already broken. my second one: This is the best inside Antenna I ever had but if you are expecting to get channel like the one you mount outside, then no. you need to get a outside antenna. my original amplified antenna was only able to get 2 channels but once i purchased this, I was able to get 25 channels. I would like to say it also depends on your tv. my upstairs tv with this antenna gets 60 channels and my living room tv gets only 25 and of course position makes a difference. You need to put this on different tv's to really give it a real review. It's worth $40 but not $60

Not working that great due to my location

    Posted .

First off it does work, I went from zero channels in my room to 3. I guess I was expecting better results but my bars (goes from 1-3 with one being good and 2 and 3 being better mine is at 1 the whole time). So this is maybe a problem of having way too many large trees (cypress, pine etc) in my yard. Installation was a breeze, you give it power by plugging it in and and connect the coaxial cable and bam! It searches for channels. Hopefully others will have a good experience and this might be a fluke thing caused by my location. Either way I am now able to watch channel 44 28 and 32 which are the closest to the Pinellas County Florida area that I live in. It’s an awesome design, just wish it worked better for me.

    Core Innovations Indoor TV Antenna

    Posted .

So I received my Core Innovations Indoor TV Antenna a few days ago and have been testing it out. First off I would like to say that the design is very sleek and nice. Most old style antennas are either the rabbit style or flat wide sheet. This is more of a circular design that can sit on a desk or tv stand. Basically connecting the antenna is easy as pie. Simply connecting the coax end to the back of you TV or digital converter box and plug the power adapter into the back of the antenna and then into a wall socket. Upon my initial testing of the it had trouble finding channels, however, readjusting the antenna, basically just moving it to a different area of my TV stand area, it was able to pull in 11 digital/analog broadcast channels. This would be a great antenna for those that have cut the cord for streaming services which don't have local broadcast networks.

Super easy to setup and it really does a great job at pulling in channels. I am currently using it in El Paso and it connected 56 channels. I have 3 bars on the antenna and it is doing a fantastic job. Picked it up on sale and it is worth every penny.

    cool looking

    Posted .

This antenna is really cool looking, it looks like a bluetooth speaker and much better then those flat panel square antennas that take up a lot of wall space. It seems to work just as well as the other antennas but you can place this on a counter or bookshelf and it just looks like some other modern tech product. Its also easy to just move around to get the best reception. What's neat is that it has 3 led bars which are signal strength indicators to help you point it in the right direction for best reception. Good compact antenna if you decent signals. It does not seem to pick up weak/distant ones for me though.

Hi HDCrocks, we highly appreciate your feedback. Glad to know that you are satisfied with our product. Thank you for sharing this to us and to the community. Please note that channel reception will vary depending on what’s broadcasting in your area, how far you are from broadcast towers, and your surroundings (i.e. obstructions between you and the towers). Move or rotate your antenna and re-run a channel scan. You may receive more channels by moving your antenna to another location. Not Sure

    Posted .

I chose this for its aesthetics. The antenna found 30 digital channels with the channel scan. Two of the three signal bars continued to flash. The lower channels came in very clear. As I moved to the higher channels, they began to fade out or freeze. I tried different locations for the antenna with no improvement. I live in the city, so not sure if maybe too much possible interference around me. I would definitely prefer the bars to light or not light rather than the constant flashing which I found to be irritating after a while. This antenna may still work for someone else depending on available signal strength and location
